Caroline has been fantastic in helping us with Dennis. He'd had long-standing reactivity to dogs, people and bikes but working with Caroline provided an incremental approach to help Dennis be less anxious and reactive. We still have work to do but he is such a calmer boy now than ever before. Thanks Caroline for all of your help. We coildnt have done it without you.
This is the second time I’ve used Caroline, with different dogs. Her advice & expertise is amazing. Very free & easy to talk to, with lots of great advice. Highly recommend 😇
Caroline has been incredibly helpful for me and my partner helping to settle our 1.5 year old Mini Schnauzer. We were having issues with stressful walks and separation anxiety whilst leaving the house, and a massive uncertainty around conflicting information online on how to deal with it. Caroline was amazing at helping us learn how to understand our dog's behavior and how best to deal with it, and giving us useful tools on training. Caroline gave clear, judgement free advice and followed strictly humane and ethical training advice. We'd happily recommend her service to anyone needing a little help with their dogs!
Caroline (from Gooddoggie Canine Behaviour Specialist and Educator) was brought in to help with our reactive foster dog Lucy and we have just finished our fourth session over a period of three months. Caroline spent time getting to know Lucy and accompanying us on walks to see how she could best help. She was quickly able to identify and explain Lucy's behaviours around other dogs and recommend techniques and training we could use on a daily basis to improve this. Understanding Lucy better gave us more confidence taking her out. We learned about reading her body language and how to build up her confidence. Seeing Caroline for a few sessions allowed her to see how Lucy was progressing and offer help for any problems that had come up since the last visit. Caroline was also happy to be contacted any time if we had a question and was delighted to receive updates on Lucy's progress. Lucy's reactivity has definitely improved and she is becoming much calmer near other dogs most of the time. We have even had a couple of happy accidents when off-lead dogs ran up to her and she responded well to them. The training will take time and patience but we recognise the small steps in progress she is making along the way. Not every encounter with a dog will be calm, but it is getting better and we are feeling more confident in these situations. Caroline's calm and friendly personality, along with her extensive knowledge and experience make her a fantastic behaviour specialist and educator and we would highly recommend her to other dog owners. She has greatly improved Lucy's behaviour (and enhanced her quality of life) as well as giving us the confidence and strategies to keep moving us both in the right direction.
Thank you Caroline Our rescue patterdale jock is now able to approach other dogs to socialise. This has only happened with your help over 6 sessions, something we thought could never happen

This man is a miracle worker. I took my 9 month old wcs to Mick to help with basic training , the dog’s worst problem was pulling on lead, Within 10 minutes Mick had him walking to heel. Training me took a wee bit longer but got there eventually. I still have a lot of work to do but now know what to do. I cannot praise Mick enough and would recommend him for all sorts of training and behavioural issues.
Mick was a god send for my 7 month old retriever puppy with the problems i am having with recall. First lesson sorted me out as it seemed i was letting dog away with few things second lesson fingers crossed been solved. Its also great that i can text or call him for help. Money and time well spent would highly recommended he has patients of a saint . Thank you
We have a very energetic 9 month old WCS called Rip. He was pulling on the lead, making walking a challenge rather than a pleasurable experience for us! Recall was at the early stages. Two sessions with Mick with some homework tasks and it’s like having a different dog. He now walks to heel when required and is great off lead, returning when whistled. We can now confidently say that our dog is “trained to the whistle”. Mick has a firm but fair teaching style(for both pup and human😂). I enjoyed the training tips Mick shared as well as the practical walking sessions we did. I have already recommended Mick to others and will continue to do so. Top quality service producing great results!!
We went to see Mick with our 3 year old boistorous springer spaniel who pulled on the lead and had zero recall. We'd seen a few trainers before Mick with no luck in these areas, so had given up hope. It's night and day after seeing Mick and we just took our dog out off lead for the first time with confidence today thanks to the guidance he gave us. He is also walking nicely on lead now which we didn't think was possible. This will really be life changing for us and our dog, who will definitely have a much happier life running around off lead. Thanks so much again. Suzie & Chris
I contacted Working Canines as I was having issues with my 4 month old WCS. She’s a sweet girl with a great energy but she pulled on the lead so much I was worried I was going to end up causing her damage. I went for my first session with Mick, who taught me how to correct my pup properly and had her walking to heel within one session. After being back for my second session, she’s almost foot perfect with me on my own. I’m now able to have her off lead and staying close to me and even walking to heel when I need her to. Mick’s knowledge and experience makes him the perfect trainer for gun dog breeds and their owners. As Wren is my first gun dog, I wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing by her and Mick has, without doubt, given me the confidence I needed. I now have a lovely, energetic but engaging pup who is biddable and well behaved. Cannot recommend Working Canines enough!!

We left our dog coco with Mandy at active paws for 5 weeks to work on some problem behaviours such as pulling on lead, dog reactivity and being unable to settle in her crate. Having her back home after her time with Mandy has been great. We can now enjoy calm walks with coco walking by our side. She is also now fully crate trained and sleeps silently in her crate every night. Mandy also continues to provide support should we need it even now that coco is home. Can’t recommend active paws enough!
Mandy is fantastic and exceptionally well informed/knowledgeable. Her onboarding and information sharing is amazing.
We have used Active Paws for over 7 years now and cannot rate Mandy & Kim highly enough - very professional, caring & I trust kim implicitly with the care of our 2 pugs.
Mr B : 'I haz the bestest time when we go in da van for walks wiv me chums (I find it hard to make chums) but I know Kim keeps me safe and we had allll the fun. Merlyn : 'Ballll...did someone say ball...they definitely did say ball....where ball...gimme'
We were lucky enough to find Mandy when we were looking for a trainer/dog walker for our first puppy in 2018, she now looks after both our dogs every day and we know we can always rely on her and the rest of the Active Paws team. We would be lost with Active Paws, they have never let us down (even on the worst weather days) and they do everything they can to make sure our boys are looked after. Our boys love their walks and we love seeing the photos of them out with all their doggy friends. I would recommend Active Paws to anyone looking for a dog walker in the Laurencekirk area 🐕🦮🐾🐩

I took my rescue dog for a snuffle spot at Laura's facility recently and I think it's a fabulous initiative. I think my dog was a little unsure but he definitely appreciated the chicken treats. I'm definitely going back for more sessions because it will help build up my dog's confidence. He's a sniffer dog, so I've booked him in for a scent work session as well which sounds like a lot of fun. Laura is a lovely person and very easy to talk to so I highly recommend her facilities.
We have 2 goldies. One is 4 weeks post-op from a cruciate ligament operation and he is only allowed walk leads for 6-10 weeks. He was getting very fed up. My daughter found out about Laura and the Snuffle sessions, and it has been a absolute dog saver, and us! One very happy dog, who thoroughly enjoys snuffling, and has also dramatically increased their sniffing when out for lead walks. Our other dog is a nervous rescue and she loved going in. Both dogs took to Laura straight away and went for cuddles. We are going twice a week at the moment, but will continue to go weekly when our goldie has recovered from his op. She is also so knowledgeable about dogs and is going to help with his "lunging" forwards on a lead, due to his excitement in meeting people and dogs. Highly recommend taking your dogs to a Snuffle session, or one of her other sessions.
Tiggy and I learnt so much from Laura's brilliant sessions. We attended Reliable Recall and got lots of great training tips which really do work. Laura level of support is incredible- at the sessions, her written material, and the clips we had access to. Laura's venue is also brilliant. Would highly recommend going to this professional, experienced, and lovely trainer!
Laura was very accommodating and fitted us into her schedule that was suitable for myself which I am grateful for. Laura was aware that my collie can be reactive to humans and Laura worked so well around him that he never even noticed her. We had a great time doing scentwork and we will be back for more 121 and group working. I would recommend Laura.
We had an amazing time at a snuffle spot session with Laura. So much for Kara my puppy to investigate and play with. She really got a lot out of it - she was asleep within minutes of leaving! Really great idea! Thanks Laura 🐶

Kay is absolutely amazing at what she does. Great advice and the patients of a saint! Can't thank her enough 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
My dog Saskia was a street dog from Romania. As such she had had several years of being autonomous - but also suffering violence at the hands of humans. Her pack held Bucharest city dump as their area to pick for food - which as you can imagine probably meant that they fought off other street dogs. Since Sassy first arrived here I have become more and more disabled - so I think she thought she needed to become pack leader again. I asked Kay to come and work with her because I really needed her to wind her neck in and be more obedient! Kay came and worked with me, Sassy and one of my carers. Kay recommended that I should work with Sas on a regular basis to get her to become more obedient - however I then had a really bad fall and I haven't been able to work with her anywhere near as much as I would have wanted to. Despite that Saskia is now significantly more obedient but not only that she actually seems much happier and more affectionite. It's like a pressure has been taken off her shoulders. I cannot recommend Kay highly enough. She really knows what she is doing.
Kay was everything we were looking for when we decided to get some help with our greyhound. She was very relaxed and approachable and our dog took to her straight away. She has some good training techniques and is very knowledgeable about what she teaches. We would absolutely recommend her to other who are looking for help with their dog.
I can’t say enough good things about Kay. We have two very reactive Yorkies who react to noises, are a challenge on walks and around other dogs. Kay has been incredibly patient and knowledgeable, tailoring the training to fit each of our dogs' specific needs. There is still a lot of work we need to do as their behaviour is very ingrained, but Kay has provided us with lots of advice, useful tips and resources to support the training, and we are already starting to see a difference. If you’re looking for a professional, compassionate, calm and effective dog trainer who really does have your dog's best interest at heart, we highly recommend Kay.
I couldn't recommend Kay enough. She is very calm, listens to your issues and gives excellent support/guidance. She provided practical demonstrations to show what to do which were very helpful. I had several issues with my puppy and Kay was able to help with these. She spent a lot of time with me and did not rush the session. Overall excellent service.
