I can’t thank Brian enough for his guidance, patience, and expertise. He has helped us build Buddy’s obedience and turned our walks into something we both love. Before starting the 12-week program, my golden retriever was extremely reactive, and pulled on the lead. I struggled to walk him, and it was a daily challenge. Now, after completing the program, he heels beautifully by my side, and doesn’t react to other dog. We enjoy peaceful, stress-free walks together. The transformation has been incredible.
I would highly recommend this training service. I feel like I am seeing the light after a struggle with my reactive dog thanks to the help and support from Brian and the team. Very approachable trainers.
Where to begin??? My big (and he's huge) black lab Baxter couldn't set sight on any other dog without reacting. LOUD barking and lunging to the point where I would drive miles to the middle of nowhere to walk him as my anxiety was through the roof and I didn't want to risk meeting another dog. Then I got in touch with T.P.K.T. They tailored a block of sessions to our needs which we are just over half way through. The difference in Baxter is unreal, today for example, at a session, we were in the park with 2 other dogs and he was lying down just watching them do their thing!!!! At an earlier session we actually walked alongside another dog!!!! We still have wee blips but like I said we are only half way through. The big difference is I now have more confidence to walk him in well known dog walking areas. Brian's knowledge and understanding of dogs is quite incredible and I can't thank him enough for the progress so far!!! Long story short..... don't think twice about booking T.P.K.T
We started working with Teachers Pet when our puppy was about 6 months old. We have a Great Dane puppy who can certainly be a handful and Brian has been excellent to work with. As well as training our dog it is training us as owners so we can achieve our ideal results. They have access to great facilities and the training has been very clear and we have seen great progress almost instantly. We're very excited to reach the end of our course and believe that we will have a well mannered and obedient dog.
We’re almost half way through our training plan at the moment and we are already impressed with the progress we have made in such a small amount of time. Brian’s knowledge and expertise are first class, his advice and guidance has really helped not just train buddy, but train us as his owners. We’re very grateful we came across Teachers Pet K9 Training and would highly recommend the company to anyone looking for help with training their dogs.

This morning I took my husky Casper to Unleashed park for the 1st time and to say he had a field day would be a unstatement, it was great to be able to let him off lead without worrying he would take off, coz he is still young but fast 🤣 and I don't fancy running a marathon to catch him lol, would highly recommend fabulous place to all dog owners and we will definitely be back 🐺🐾
Lovely place

Fantastic training and behaviour advice from Raymond. Would highly recommend.
We had several training sessions with Ray for my dogs lead walking issues and he improved massively with the help and tips from Ray! Would highly recommend!
I had a session with Mike today and all i can say is amazing. He was brilliant at listening to my issues with my dog and has given me the confidence to continue with the training and i mean training in the right way. No more apps, you tubes videos or other trainers. He really listened and he was very honest with me about my relationship with my dog. The practical work we did was daunting to start with but he showed me how easy it can be if i am shown the correct skills for a very knowledgeable, experienced trainer. I also have the safety net if rrquiwred ro be able to contact hom in the future if i am struggling with any of it. I definitely do not feel left alone after the session like i have done from previous trainers. I wish i had contacted him a very long time ago. 100% would recommend contacting him for any problems or training issues
We have had 2 sessions with Ray and the improvement in our pups behaviour is huge . As well as general training ,Ray was able to demonstrate how to improve specific problem behaviours we had In the house. We were able to practice these activities with Ray present to ensure we responded correctly .

Serving Nairn, Auldearn, Cawdor, and surrounding Highland communities, we've successfully trained over 450 dogs in the past eight years. Our expertise addresses local challenges from beach distractions to Highland weather conditions, ensuring your dog thrives in Nairn's unique environment.
Nairn presents distinctive training requirements shaped by its coastal location and outdoor lifestyle. The town's extensive beach stretches, Culbin Forest trails, and River Nairn paths provide excellent exercise opportunities but demand reliable recall skills, especially with wildlife, seabirds, and other dogs frequently encountered. Our trainers specialise in beach-specific training, helping dogs master sandy terrain, resist distractions from seaweed and debris, and respond reliably despite strong sea breezes that carry competing scents.
Highland weather conditions require dogs comfortable in wind, rain, and occasional snow, while the town's tourist season brings increased foot traffic along the promenade and High Street. We prepare dogs for Nairn's community atmosphere, from navigating busy periods at the harbour to maintaining composure during Highland Games events and the popular Book and Arts Festival.
Our puppy programmes focus on early socialisation within Nairn's coastal environment, introducing young dogs to beach surfaces, waves, seabirds, and the unique sounds of the shoreline. Training covers essential commands, house training, and building confidence around other dogs at popular locations like Nairn East Beach and the links. This foundation creates adaptable Highland dogs ready for active outdoor lifestyles.
We develop bombproof recall essential for safely enjoying Nairn's beaches, forests, and countryside. Training addresses common distractions including seabirds, rabbits in Culbin Forest, and other dogs, ensuring reliable responses whether on Nairn Beach or woodland trails. Advanced programmes include emergency stops and distance commands for confident off-lead exercise throughout Highland landscapes.
Dog training in Nairn typically ranges from £35-60 per hour for private sessions, with six-week puppy programmes averaging £180-320. Group classes cost £10-18 per session. Many trainers offer package deals and free initial consultations to discuss your dog's specific needs and training goals.
Absolutely. Beach recall training is one of our specialities in Nairn. We systematically build reliable responses despite beach distractions including birds, other dogs, and interesting smells. Most dogs achieve solid beach recall within 8-12 weeks of consistent training, allowing safe off-lead exercise along Nairn's beautiful coastline.
