Michael was fantastic with our Yorkshire Terrier. She was extremely troublesome but he assured me she would make a cracking wee dog. He was dead right! She's 10 years old now and an absolute darling! We couldn't have got through it without him, can't reccomend highly enough x

We actually attend two separate classes with My Dogs Best Friend - that's how much we and our dogs enjoy it! Crumble goes to continuation classes with Hugh (we think of it as dog youth club 🤣) and she's coming on in leaps and bounds. Hugh is so so patient with us and her and he's really motivating, always full of praise for us and her so we leave on a high every week. Unlike other trainers he never gets frustrated and he makes each week different and fun. Thursdays are the highlight of her week and I think we'll still be attending when she's old and grey! Eric goes to agility with Karen every Saturday and he's bouncing to get in the car about half an hour before we actually set off! Even though we had no agility experience at all, within 4 weeks he was running full courses and having a blast. It's been so good that the minute the first set of classes finished, we signed up for the next set. Karen is a brilliant teacher and makes everything so clear and easy to understand.

The small groups helped it nearly feel like 1-1 trianing. Lots of simple things that helped my GSD Marshalls training get much more consistent. It was also good to see all the other dogs progressing and a tired dog after this is great bonus too.

My Dog Best Friend taught my puppy and I how everything we needed to know to get started together. Very skilled trainer that helped us learn skills and have fun doing so! Highly recommend doing their classes from puppy and up.

I highly recommend Joanne as a dog trainer, she is so patient with the dogs and made such a difference with my 10 month old puppy and my 3 year old. She takes her time to ensure that we understand the correct approach when carrying on her good work at home. I’m going to be booking the intermediate classes also. Her boarding kennels are second to none and the dogs are definitely treated like VIP’s. My dogs go nowhere else.

Highly, highly recommend Joanne for all things dogs. A gentle, kind, passionate lady with incredible knowledge and expertise. An in depth session with my puppy that has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to adequately train going forward. Will be recommending to everyone!!

I cannot recommend Joanne highly enough, not only was she amazing at training Ralph, but much recently took Ralph on very short notice when me and my partner were struggling with his health issues and had to go to a hospital in England urgently. Not only that but as we were unsure about how long we would be away she extended his stay for as long as she could and it gave me the peace of mind I needed at a very stressful time! I knew Ralph was in the best hands possible and it was a big worry lifted off my shoulders. Joanne sent me regular updates on Ralph and about how some of his reactiveness to other dogs had well settled as she knows how to socialise dogs properly and knows how to look after each dog’s individual needs! Having Ralph at Paws for thought has been such a comfort and I am so thankful. An amazing place, forever grateful ❤️

Professional Dog Trainers in Armagh City Centre: Expert Canine Behaviour Training

Finding skilled dog trainers in Armagh City Centre connects you with professionals who understand the unique aspects of dog ownership in Northern Ireland's ecclesiastical capital. From training puppies near the historic Mall to managing reactive dogs along the Callan River Walk, our certified trainers deliver personalised obedience training, behaviour modification, and socialisation programmes tailored to city living.

Serving the BT60 and BT61 postcode areas including Cathedral Quarter, English Street, and the surrounding residential neighbourhoods, we've successfully trained over 850 dogs in Armagh and the wider district. Our expertise addresses local challenges from navigating Market Square crowds to enjoying off-lead exercise at the Palace Demesne Public Park.

Why Professional Dog Training Matters in Armagh City Centre

Armagh City Centre presents specific training needs shaped by its compact historic layout, busy pedestrian areas, and blend of residential and commercial spaces. Dogs must learn to walk calmly past Saint Patrick's Cathedral visitors, remain composed during market days on Market Street, and navigate the narrow Georgian streets with confidence. The city's proximity to countryside walking routes means dogs need reliable recall for transitioning between urban and rural environments.

Our trainers specialise in addressing Armagh-specific challenges including desensitisation to church bells, adapting to terraced housing with limited garden space, and managing encounters with other dogs in popular spots like the Palace Demesne. We understand local requirements for responsible dog ownership in this close-knit community where good canine manners strengthen neighbourly relationships.

Dog Training Solutions for Armagh City Centre Residents

Puppy Training and Foundation Skills

Our puppy programmes build essential foundations during the critical 8-16 week socialisation period. We introduce young dogs to Armagh's urban environment including traffic along College Hill, crowds near the Gaol and Armagh County Museum, and various surfaces throughout the city centre, ensuring confident, well-adjusted adults.

Reactive Dog and Behaviour Modification

We address leash reactivity, fear-based responses, and aggression through positive reinforcement techniques. Training in controlled environments around the Mall and quieter residential streets builds tolerance gradually, helping dogs remain calm when encountering triggers on busy Scotch Street or during walks through the city centre.

Recall and Off-Lead Training

Advanced training develops reliable off-lead control essential for enjoying Armagh's surrounding countryside and the Palace Demesne. We build bombproof recall despite distractions, ensuring dogs respond consistently whether in the formal gardens or exploring nearby rural walking routes accessible from the city centre.
