Karen has been incredibly helpful with our reactive Cockapoo. She’s supported us through the ups and downs with practical, thoughtful advice, and always takes the time to understand what’s really going on. We’ve seen real progress, and it’s made such a difference. Highly recommend!
It has been wonderful working with Karen. She has really supported us during this training. She is understanding and empathetic of the issues involved. As well as the zoom calls, the continual support through what’s app has helped immensely and I’m able to fire off a quick question or query to Karen and she will get back to me. We are making such good progress with leaving our dog and it’s so nice to know he is coping well with the small but steady increases in time. Leaving our dog comfortably alone was a stage I was unsure we would ever get to! It’s wonderful to feel both our dog and my own confidence has grown in this area. We have all worked hard during this training but could not have done it without Karen’s guidance and support. I would highly recommend Karen if you are struggling with your pet and I wouldn’t hesitate to seek her advice again should we need it in the future.
Karen was the second behaviourist that we worked with for our fear-reactive dog, and she really helped us turn a corner with his training. We'd been following the initial management advice for a while, but felt stuck with how to progress to training that might improve his fear and behaviour rather than just make it safer. Her service is excellent at all levels, from the videos showing training techniques to the insights and observations about our and our dog's behaviour in the house and out for walks - then combining it all into a tailored training programme that's understandable and achievable even by dog beginners. I can't recommend her enough for reactivity; her intervention has really made a practical difference to our lives and was extremely good value. If we ever get another pup - I'll be going straight to her to improve my training skills before any puppy school!
Quite simply outstanding. Knowledgeable, supportive, friendly, so very patient and encouraging with Tate and his owner. Our little pup’s behaviour is unrecognisable and walks have become the pleasure we always wanted them to be. The continued support and contact is so helpful. Don’t waste time thinking about a dog behaviourist. Do it. Karen has been incredible. Thank you !
We started working with Karen to help our rescue dog, Mylo, who we adopted when he was around two. He had some behavioural challenges, particularly around other dogs, and we weren’t sure how to approach things in a way that would actually help him. From the beginning, Karen has been fantastic – incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and really easy to work with. Even after just one session, we started noticing improvements. Mylo has been much calmer in certain situations, especially when we’re out in new environments where things aren’t too intense. There’s definitely still work to do, but we now feel like we have the tools – and the confidence – to keep moving in the right direction. Karen’s focus on building long-term, sustainable change has been exactly what we needed. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and she’s made that process feel manageable. Her follow-up support has been excellent – knowing we can reach out with questions as things come up has been so reassuring, and the additional resources she’s shared have helped us stay on track between sessions. We’re really grateful for the help so far and would absolutely recommend Karen to anyone looking for thoughtful, effective behavioural support.

Caroline has been fantastic in helping us with Dennis. He'd had long-standing reactivity to dogs, people and bikes but working with Caroline provided an incremental approach to help Dennis be less anxious and reactive. We still have work to do but he is such a calmer boy now than ever before. Thanks Caroline for all of your help. We coildnt have done it without you.
This is the second time I’ve used Caroline, with different dogs. Her advice & expertise is amazing. Very free & easy to talk to, with lots of great advice. Highly recommend 😇
Caroline has been incredibly helpful for me and my partner helping to settle our 1.5 year old Mini Schnauzer. We were having issues with stressful walks and separation anxiety whilst leaving the house, and a massive uncertainty around conflicting information online on how to deal with it. Caroline was amazing at helping us learn how to understand our dog's behavior and how best to deal with it, and giving us useful tools on training. Caroline gave clear, judgement free advice and followed strictly humane and ethical training advice. We'd happily recommend her service to anyone needing a little help with their dogs!
Caroline (from Gooddoggie Canine Behaviour Specialist and Educator) was brought in to help with our reactive foster dog Lucy and we have just finished our fourth session over a period of three months. Caroline spent time getting to know Lucy and accompanying us on walks to see how she could best help. She was quickly able to identify and explain Lucy's behaviours around other dogs and recommend techniques and training we could use on a daily basis to improve this. Understanding Lucy better gave us more confidence taking her out. We learned about reading her body language and how to build up her confidence. Seeing Caroline for a few sessions allowed her to see how Lucy was progressing and offer help for any problems that had come up since the last visit. Caroline was also happy to be contacted any time if we had a question and was delighted to receive updates on Lucy's progress. Lucy's reactivity has definitely improved and she is becoming much calmer near other dogs most of the time. We have even had a couple of happy accidents when off-lead dogs ran up to her and she responded well to them. The training will take time and patience but we recognise the small steps in progress she is making along the way. Not every encounter with a dog will be calm, but it is getting better and we are feeling more confident in these situations. Caroline's calm and friendly personality, along with her extensive knowledge and experience make her a fantastic behaviour specialist and educator and we would highly recommend her to other dog owners. She has greatly improved Lucy's behaviour (and enhanced her quality of life) as well as giving us the confidence and strategies to keep moving us both in the right direction.
Thank you Caroline Our rescue patterdale jock is now able to approach other dogs to socialise. This has only happened with your help over 6 sessions, something we thought could never happen

This man is a miracle worker. I took my 9 month old wcs to Mick to help with basic training , the dog’s worst problem was pulling on lead, Within 10 minutes Mick had him walking to heel. Training me took a wee bit longer but got there eventually. I still have a lot of work to do but now know what to do. I cannot praise Mick enough and would recommend him for all sorts of training and behavioural issues.
Mick was a god send for my 7 month old retriever puppy with the problems i am having with recall. First lesson sorted me out as it seemed i was letting dog away with few things second lesson fingers crossed been solved. Its also great that i can text or call him for help. Money and time well spent would highly recommended he has patients of a saint . Thank you
We have a very energetic 9 month old WCS called Rip. He was pulling on the lead, making walking a challenge rather than a pleasurable experience for us! Recall was at the early stages. Two sessions with Mick with some homework tasks and it’s like having a different dog. He now walks to heel when required and is great off lead, returning when whistled. We can now confidently say that our dog is “trained to the whistle”. Mick has a firm but fair teaching style(for both pup and human😂). I enjoyed the training tips Mick shared as well as the practical walking sessions we did. I have already recommended Mick to others and will continue to do so. Top quality service producing great results!!
We went to see Mick with our 3 year old boistorous springer spaniel who pulled on the lead and had zero recall. We'd seen a few trainers before Mick with no luck in these areas, so had given up hope. It's night and day after seeing Mick and we just took our dog out off lead for the first time with confidence today thanks to the guidance he gave us. He is also walking nicely on lead now which we didn't think was possible. This will really be life changing for us and our dog, who will definitely have a much happier life running around off lead. Thanks so much again. Suzie & Chris
I contacted Working Canines as I was having issues with my 4 month old WCS. She’s a sweet girl with a great energy but she pulled on the lead so much I was worried I was going to end up causing her damage. I went for my first session with Mick, who taught me how to correct my pup properly and had her walking to heel within one session. After being back for my second session, she’s almost foot perfect with me on my own. I’m now able to have her off lead and staying close to me and even walking to heel when I need her to. Mick’s knowledge and experience makes him the perfect trainer for gun dog breeds and their owners. As Wren is my first gun dog, I wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing by her and Mick has, without doubt, given me the confidence I needed. I now have a lovely, energetic but engaging pup who is biddable and well behaved. Cannot recommend Working Canines enough!!

I enlisted the help of Brodie’s K9 training after one of my dogs (previously my mums dog but now with me full time) starting exhibiting some signs of anxiety & fear when outside which was resulting in him being “aggressive” and a bit unpredictable. After one session I felt immediately calmer & better equipped to deal with the behaviour. Ultimately he’s a dog, he’s being a dog and it’s my responsibility as his owner to make him feel safe and calm, with the tools provided during the session I feel much more relaxed which in turn makes my dog calmer. Id highly recommend Lewis if you need help.
We had Lewis visit us at home to train our wee dogs, and also attended a weekly training class for adult dogs. We were super impressed from the start. Lewis is friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable. Our dogs responded quickly to Lewis and their new commands. It’s been so worthwhile to work with Lewis, we’ve all benefited; dogs and humans 😊 Thanks Lewis!
Contacted Brodie's K9 Training to help with my dog barking at people going past my house Lewis came for my Dog Dusty we had 2 sessions and what an improvement in my dog i tend to keep up training my dog so it's OK for people to walk by without excess barking.Thank you for all your help much appreciated.
Took Barney along to group training as he was not a pleasure to walk, pulling, jumping etc. Lewis was first class and with one class done Barney was walking good 👍 exc trainer and would highly recommend 👌🐩😊
Great guy Great advice. He doesn’t just train the dogs, he shows you how to do it yourself. And there for you in a pinch! 11/10
I cannot recommend Mhairi enough, she looked after our 2 springers on our wedding day. This was their first time being looked after by someone other than family and I honestly didn’t worry one tiny bit. The dogs were so well looked after and Mhairi was a total pro bringing them down the aisle and especially getting photos, we probably wouldn’t have managed to get any with two crazy spaniels if it wasn’t for her. I got updates throughout the day and both dogs were so relaxed and happy. We knew they were in safe and loving hands all day long and we couldn’t have been more thankful💖
Mhari is amazing at what she does! I have never met someone so in love with dogs… all dogs. We asked Mhari for a full day and over night package which she tailored to our needs. She arrived at our venue the morning of our wedding at 9am and took our pup away on a big walk then got him all groomed for his all important walk down the aloes. Our pup had just turned one the week before so we were a bit concerned on how he would do, but she reassured us and made sure our pup was looked after and most importantly his needs were met. Mhari stayed until we got pictures then headed back to our house with pup, who loved all the extra attention he was getting. I got updated on how he was thoughout the evening, which was amazing for peace of mind. We were due home around 1400 the next day and Mhari had walked our pup for us arriving home. Mhari would be the top supplier I would recommend having at for your wedding! Thankfully we were also fortunate to secure a place with her weekly walks, so our ADHD pup still gets to see her! 🩵
Mhari was our dog chaperone for our wedding. She was just fantastic! Mhari Kept in touch in the months leading up to our wedding and made sure she met up with our dogs so they were comfortable with her. Mhari has a depth of knowledge of dogs and dog behaviours and has an amazing amount of experience behind her. I have never met anyone who is as dog obsessed as me! Mhari really treats your dogs like her own. 🫶🏻
Could not recommend Mhairi high enough, we felt so at ease leaving our dog with her on our wedding day and knew she would be so well looked after. Our dog was our ring bearer and Mhairi ensured everything went to plan, she also helped get the BEST photos ever with our pup. Thank you for everything, we couldn't have had our special day without you!
We would highly recommend Mhairi to anyone who would like their dog looked after during their wedding! Mhairi looked after our golden retriever Pablo in March during our wedding and she was just incredible! She provided us with updates during the day and Pablo just loved her! Having Mhairi for our dog meant we could relax and enjoy our wedding as we knew he was well looked after! I would say anyone who wants their dog involved in their wedding should book Mhairi as I couldn’t have thought of anyone better to put our trust in! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

From training energetic puppies near Magdalen Green to managing reactive dogs along the esplanade at West Ferry, our certified trainers deliver personalised obedience training, behaviour modification, and socialisation programmes tailored to West End living.
Serving all areas including Riverside Drive, Perth Road, and the leafy streets around Blackness, we've successfully trained over 850 dogs across Dundee's DD1 and DD2 postcodes in the past eight years. Our expertise addresses the specific challenges of dog ownership in this vibrant area, from navigating busy Perth Road to enjoying off-lead exercise at Magdalen Green and Riverside Nature Park.
Dundee's West End presents distinct training requirements shaped by its mix of historic properties, university campus areas, and extensive riverside access. The neighbourhood's proximity to the Tay waterfront provides excellent walking routes, but the combination of cyclists, joggers, and other dogs along the esplanade demands solid recall and lead manners for safe, enjoyable outdoor time.
The area's character as home to both families and students creates varied environments dogs must navigate confidently. Our trainers specialise in desensitising dogs to the bustling atmosphere near Dundee University campus, traffic along Perth Road, and the wildlife encountered at Magdalen Green. With housing ranging from converted flats in grand Victorian buildings to modern riverside apartments, many West End residents need dogs with excellent indoor manners and the ability to settle in properties with shared entrances and limited garden space.
Our puppy programmes focus on critical early development, systematically introducing young dogs to West End environments including traffic noise, riverside paths, and the diverse activity around Seabraes and Blackness Library. Training covers flat-appropriate house training, basic commands, and controlled socialisation at Magdalen Green, building confidence that prevents future behavioural issues.
We develop reliable recall essential for safely enjoying the West End's riverside walks and Magdalen Green. Training builds responsiveness despite distractions including wildlife, other dogs, and waterfront activity, ensuring your dog can exercise properly while you maintain complete control along the Tay Path and throughout local green spaces.
Dog training in the West End typically ranges from £35-65 per hour for private sessions, with 6-week programmes averaging £220-400. Group classes cost £10-18 per session, reflecting Dundee's competitive pricing while maintaining professional standards.
Magdalen Green offers excellent open space for recall training, while the riverside esplanade provides real-world distraction training with cyclists and joggers. Riverside Nature Park works well for off-lead practice, and quieter streets around Blackness suit lead-walking training.
Professional dog training in Dundee's West End creates confident, well-mannered companions perfectly suited to this distinctive neighbourhood's lifestyle. Our proven methods combine expert techniques with intimate knowledge of local environments, from Perth Road's cafés to Magdalen Green's open spaces.
