Normans Dog Day Care, Unit 17 Norman Way, Over, Cambridge CB24 5QE
What an absolute golden gem this is to have on our doorstep. Ahead of getting a rescue pup, a neighbour recommended this place to us and couldn’t sing them enough praises. Admittedly, I had my reservations as I felt slightly out of control leaving our rescue pup in the hands of strangers - however, I have felt nothing but pure adoration for this place. Tamsin, is a rare find I feel. She’s incredibly knowledgeable but also so is her team and they are a credit to her and this set up, proven by their transparency with their training sessions and everything they do. I really don’t think there is anywhere even relatively comparable to this set up. You can see the excitement in all of the dogs faces when they arrive and it’s a real luxury to drop your dog off and have zero concern about their welfare and wellbeing. I had my concerns socialising our rescue pup with so many dogs, who was once very nervous, but actually it’s taught him how to positively interact with other dogs. It’s amazing to see him become such a well rounded, respectful, trained pup and that’s a real combined effort of us continuing his work at home and them also helping support us with what we are doing with him at home. We once had a very anxious pup and as Tamsin once told me, doggy day care will become his release and make managing him in the home environment much easier and it really has done just that. Thank you so much. We owe you so much. 🩷🩷🩷🩷
We can’t say enough great things about Norman’s Doggy Daycare! From the moment we were able to start training our puppy, TJ and the utterly brilliant training team have been an incredible source of support and guidance. Under their care, our girl has improved in leaps and bounds — not just in obedience but in overall confidence and behaviour. They’ve equipped us with the tools and knowledge to teach her the basics to build on and they’ve always been ready to think outside the box whenever we’ve faced challenges with trickier behaviours. As we’ve entered the “teenage stage,” the behaviourist coaching has been invaluable in helping us navigate this new phase helping us to understand what bits we need to get on top of and which bits we just need to ride out. What really sets Norman’s apart is their dependability, flexibility, and consistent enthusiasm to help you dog have the best day it can. We always know our pup is in safe, experienced hands and genuinely wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for quality care and expert guidance for their dog.
Pepper loves going to Youth Club and gets so excited in the car when we approach Norman’s. She loves playing with all her friends
My puppy has been going to Normans since November and he absolutely loves it. He gets so excited when we arrive in the car park and he doesn’t look back at me for a second as he goes inside. He started attending the puppy club sessions which are brilliant as they do training with the puppies and film this which you have access to. The trainers are always happy to work on any areas that I raise and are very friendly. More recently we have had some behavioural help from TJ as my puppy and older dog were not getting on. TJ has worked miracles! She listens to you and at no point makes you feel silly or judged. She genuinely cares about helping us and the dogs and we have gone from having 2 dogs who wanted to fight and couldn’t be in the same room to 2 dogs who are comfortable around each other and happy. We will be forever grateful to TJ for her support with the boys. I would highly recommend her to anyone having issues with their dog and would recommend Normans to anyone looking for daycare!

I have done Lucy's puppy class with both my labs and find her methods very clever and technical. Lucy gives valuable breed-specific and individual-specific advice. She provides excellent follow through on how to improve each command , and regularly checks on your progress.
My rescue Dalmatian was anxious, reactive and intent on escape when we first met Lucy. With her one-two-one guidance and lots of time and patience I now have a dog ready to start and explore the life he deserves. She has boosted my confidence and with just a few lessons over the last 9 months, given me the tools to make the best of our lad. Looking forward to be able to start group classes. Thanks Lucy from me and the spotty beast.
Thankyou Lucy we thought our puppy would be clueless (and us) but your classes were easy to follow and very informative. We have definitely learnt alot and will keep working with Ebony. Highly recommend all puppy owners to do this training.
Lucy was great, we found her beginners training classes so helpful for our cavapoochon puppy. He's come on leaps and bounds over the course of the weeks, settling down and focusing so much better. Would highly recommend!!
Lucy taught us so much in the six weeks program, connecting with my Golden Retriever in a way I didn't think possible. Good job Lucy Excellent training.

Charlotte's work in the 121 intensive recall with our 3yr old springer has made a massive difference to his recall when we are out. He stays closer to me, is more engaged along the walk and comes back when I call him! It has made a such a difference to our outings. I am so grateful for her expertise. She is a brilliant trainer and I highly recommend her. Thanks Charlotte for making such a difference.
First class training and understanding of my Dogs needs
Charlotte is lovely. Very attentive, patient and knowledgeable. My Lab loves her and is doing so well as a result of the training. Would happily recommend ’Tails Trails’ to anyone.
Our cocker spaniel puppy Elsa learnt a lot - as did we! Charlotte ensured that training was always enjoyable for Elsa and for us - everything was made upbeat and positive, with the emphasis on fun and rewarding good behaviour. We have now started our other dog Maisie on a Life Skills course to hopefully address one or two behavioural issues, and have every confidence that it will go well!
Great course of puppy classes, enjoyable for young dogs & new owners alike. I especially enjoyed the small friendly group and being in the safe field felt less overwhelming & noisy than a village hall setting.

My Lab loves going to see Jen. She usually boards with Jen one to two days a week and she always comes back very happy. She has also just spent a week with Jen when we were away on holiday and she loved her holiday too. I cant recommend Jen highly enough.
Jen is always a pleasure to deal with and we wouldn’t trust anyone else to look after our dogs. Jen welcomes them into her home as if one of her own. She is very responsive to messages and will do her absolute best to help and accommodate you. If you are looking for a highly knowledgable dog trainer look no further than Jen. Highly recommend!
Jen is an effective, kind, experienced dog trainer who only uses reward based methods. She has helped me enormously with my difficult labradoodle, with weekly training days and a training/boarding stay he has improved hugely. I thoroughly recommend her. Jen will help you get the best from your dog.
Jen from A'paw'lling Behaviour was brilliant. Had a home visit providing guidance and tips to a complete novice owner with a new large 5yr rescue hound/lab crossbreed. Max loved her from the first moment. Very experienced, explains and teaches the owner and the dog. We had now mastered sitting :)
Harley (10 year old Lab) and Ralph (4 year old Cavachon) stayed with Jen for 8 nights as boarders. She is amazing! Harley came back having experienced Reiki and hot pads on his limping leg; Ralph came back with a gold star for 'being calm around small animals' (apparently he helped clean out guinea pigs without shouting!!!). I cannot recommend Jen highly enough. Although I don't want her to become too popular as she won't have room for my pooches :-)

Chaotic dog training
Finding qualified dog trainers in Chesterton means connecting with professionals who understand this historic Cambridgeshire neighbourhood's unique character. Whether you're training a new puppy near the River Cam, managing reactivity along Green End Road, or teaching recall in Chesterton Recreation Ground, our certified trainers deliver personalised obedience training and behaviour modification programmes tailored to this vibrant community north of Cambridge city centre.
Serving all Chesterton areas including Arbury, King's Hedges, and Milton Road, we've successfully trained over 850 dogs in the past eight years, helping local families create well-mannered companions suited to Chesterton's mix of Victorian terraces, modern developments, and excellent green spaces.
Chesterton presents specific training needs shaped by its position as a busy residential area with cycling culture, riverside paths, and proximity to Cambridge's academic environment. Dogs here must navigate the constant bicycle traffic along Milton Road and Chesterton Road, remain calm around the diverse activity near Mitcham's Corner, and master recall in popular spaces like Stourbridge Common where distractions abound.
Our trainers understand local challenges including adapting to Victorian terraced housing with limited gardens, managing dogs around the busy Cambridge Regional College campus, and ensuring safe behaviour along the Cam riverside path frequented by joggers, cyclists, and rowers. We specialise in creating urban dogs comfortable with Chesterton's dynamic environment while maintaining excellent public manners essential for this close-knit community.
Our puppy programmes build essential foundations during the critical 8-16 week period, introducing young dogs to Chesterton's urban environment including bicycle traffic, riverside activity, and the sounds around busy junctions like Elizabeth Way Bridge. Training covers house training for terraced properties, basic commands, and controlled socialisation sessions in local green spaces.
We address leash reactivity, fear-based responses, and aggression through systematic desensitisation programmes. Training focuses on real-world scenarios including passing dogs on narrow pavements near Chesterton High Street and remaining calm in busy areas like the Co-op car park or along Ferry Path.
For dogs ready to progress, we develop reliable off-lead control essential for safely enjoying Stourbridge Common, Jesus Green, and local recreation grounds. Training includes emergency stops, distance commands, and advanced lead work suitable for Chesterton's busy streets and cycling infrastructure.
Dog training in Chesterton typically costs £45-80 per hour for private sessions, with 6-week packages ranging from £300-550. Group classes cost £15-25 per session. Prices reflect Cambridge area rates while offering excellent value for professional, qualified training services.
Popular training locations include Chesterton Recreation Ground, Stourbridge Common, and quieter residential streets off Chesterton Road. We also utilise Jesus Green and areas along the River Cam for distraction training, helping dogs adapt to Chesterton's busy, urban environment with cycling traffic and riverside activity.
Yes, bicycle desensitisation is one of our specialities given Chesterton's heavy cycling traffic. We use systematic exposure therapy starting at distances where your dog remains calm, gradually decreasing distance while building positive associations. Most dogs show significant improvement within 6-8 weeks of consistent training.
