Our rescue puppy Olive has attended Puppy Life Skills,Puppy Conversations and Bronze Life Skills. The training we received was fantastic, everyone at Goodall Dog Training is so passionate about ensuring you and your dog learn the skills needed to go out in the big wide world confidently and safely. Both courses included follow up notes which are great for referring back to especially when you have a head like a sieve and a fruit loop for a puppy. The skills are easy to learn and you can work at your dog’s pace. Olive loved the mental stimulation. We will be returning soon for our next course. Blue, our border terrier puppy, has recently completed the puppy course and now about to complete the Bronze Award class. So many useful training techniques that really work!! Very helpful mid week support when you need that extra bit of advice! The classes are great fun, really enjoyable! Highly recommend!!

As first dog owners who had barely stroked a dog before picking up our pup, Goodall Dog Training courses have been a lifesaver! Rachael and the team are knowledgeable, supportive and encouraging. Course content is well thought through, manageable and progressive. Great venue at the Hamble Country Park. Rachael’s “Puppy Preparation” talk was a game changer. We went on to complete “Puppy Lifeskills”, “Puppy Conversations” and now “Bronze”. Our pup is now 7 months old and we can see the progress we’ve all made. We always come away from sessions feeling positive. We haven’t always arrived in that mindset!

This is the first time I have ever encountered a dog with separation anxiety. Dinky just barked and barked when we left her, upsetting us, her and our neighbours. We reached out to Jan, who put a training plan together for us. Jan sent us a different plan daily to follow. We did this 5 times a week, and put the work into Dinky and fed-back after each session. After 8 weeks we were leaving Dinky up to 2 hours. With the help from Jan, Dinky is now much more settled when we go out and we are able to continue the training on our own.

In the space of a few months , my puppy cavapoo went from barking and howling even if I left her for a minute, to being comfortable on her own for 2hrs plus. Jan has been excellent throughout and has been there every step of the way. Now I feel like I have my life back!

Jan's training was brilliant. She was honest from the start saying that there was no quick fix for a dog with separation anxiety but she could help. She was right and I now have a dog I can leave for well over 2 hours when before it was 2 mins. Jan is vastly knowledgeable of dogs and supportive of their humans. I'm still training but without Jan but may return. I can't recommend her highly enough.

We reached out to Jan in desperate need of help with our nearly 2 year old cockapoo Norris who has never been able to be left home alone since we brought him home at 8 weeks old due to constant barking and howling until we returned. We were at complete breaking point when Jan first came on board. Jan worked closely (and patiently!) with us and gave us the knowledge and motivation to keep going when we needed it. We are now at over an hour with Norris where he can sleep soundly at home whilst me and my partner are out of the house.. something we thought we would never achieve. Jan, I don’t even know how to thank you for the great job you did with my Sky. I never thought Sky would allow me to pop outside without him for 1 minute without crying but he managed to do 1 hour without even whining. It has been a journey! When we started, I was skeptical and never thought we would get there but your reassurance and the way you tailored the training to suit Sky was incredible. You understood his behaviours and made sure he was settled throughout. You truly are exceptional in what you do. Sky’s wellbeing was your priority throughout and I highly appreciate this, Jan. I worked with Karen for 9months, since we got my GSP Wilf at 8weeks old. We started with weekly zooms, and then moved to Whatsapp coaching, and I honestly couldn't recommend Karen enough. Her approach is positive, calm, and understanding. She quickly understands the individual dog and their needs, this really helped us with Wilf, ensuring we're motivating and fulfilling his needs in a way that he loves. She is also brilliant with the humans ;) and her advice is given without judgement and always made me feel empowered and that I could manage and work through any situation. I would have no hesitation working with Karen in the future and honestly can't thank her enough for getting us on the right path! If you want a positive dog trainer, who understands dogs and is just a lovely person to work Karen is the person for you!

Karen has been amazing to work with through her WhatsApp training. I had been looking around for a trainer and had been following Karen for a few months because I loved the knowledge, insight and tips she gave working with spaniels. Having a spaniel/Shepherd cross I found I could relate to a lot of her content! From the start, it felt like she took the time to really learn about my dog (Leo) properly, asking me questions about him and feeding back on the initial videos I sent over. Karen gave us tailored advice and training with plenty of help and guidance to put everything into practise. Doing the training was so much fun! Leo loved doing it and as such I feel like it hugely strengthened and developed our bond. From walking nicely on lead to managing his arousal levels, we have learnt so much. Karen also helped me to really tap into the spaniel side of Leo which really was a game changer. Introducing the whistle was something that he LOVED, zooming back or stopping on command. Working with Karen has given us the confidence to go out on lovely walks which gives Leo the outlet to the sniffs (and water!) that he so loves. I know that when I need him to stop or recall that he will come flying back but often now, his eyes are on me, checking in and waiting because he knows good things happen by me. Karen has been amazing to work with, always positive with constructive feedback that has helped us navigate the initial stages of adolescence. I would highly recommend anybody to Karen - thank you Karen for all the amazing work you put in with us both 😊

We did a four week course of training with Karen to focus on some basic gundog principles to complement our 14 month old dog's current training and day to day activities. We would have happily done longer, but some circumstances have meant we couldn't commit for longer right now. Despite the short time, we have learned so much. Karen is knowledgeable, encouraging, and crucially only uses positive reinforcement which was very important for us - our dog is an adolescent and can be prone to "big feelings", and some gundog training we had tried previously hadn't been as positive as we had hoped. We were offered lots of helpful guidance, and supportively advised, without judgement, if our approach needed to change. Karen is very big on breed fulfilment and dogs using natural outlets. While it was encouraging to know we were already doing many right things, her advice has enabled us to further elevate our dog's day to day happiness and make our walks even more enriching and enjoyable. When we can, we will definitely be trying to work with her again and would highly recommend.

My shelter puppy (6months) arrived from Cyprus and I thought repeatedly "what have I done", I was in tears, I thought I was destroying the puppies life, it was so hard. O had a session with Karen and her advice and knowledge was incredible. She has such an amazing way of understanding dogs and explaining their experience to humans. She helped me understand him, helped me see there was a way forward and gave me the tools to move forward and build a relationship. Even after 1 session I felt confident, motivated and less stressed. Her practical advice really helped and at the next session we could build on what comes after settling. I learnt so much not just about my doggo but about practical steps in training and food to use. I couldn't recommend Karen at Maher and Hound more. I have been working with Karen for over 6 months via Whatsapp coaching for my springer spaniel Obi. I came across Karen on Instagram and immediately loved the way she spoke to and about her spaniel Bonzo. She makes it very much about meeting the dogs needs rather than simply teaching the dog to do what we want. I only wanted to work with someone who was completely positive reinforcement based, Karen is positive reinforcement +++. She has helped Obi and I create a lovely partnership. We have now moved onto Bonzo's Happy Gundog Club - Karen's training videos are excellent and her passion for what she does is palpable in her live q&a sessions. The only negative is that we are not located close enough to join her in person pet Gundog workshops which look fabulous.

I thoroughly enjoyed attending Leah’s puppy class last year. We have since joined the adolescence membership group, a recall training session and fun agility.

Fantastic puppy classes lots of great advise. Leah responds to any questions you have and sends out lots of really good info especially as this is our first dog.

Leah is so friendly and makes you feel at ease. We took our spaniel and she helped improve his skills, socialising and also tips and hints for at home! Highly recommend.

Cannot recommend Leah and Positive Training for Canines enough!! I first met Leah I think almost 12 years ago when I attended classes with my mum and our family dog Murphy. We did all the classes including her summer agility, which was great fun! I have now returned with my husband and our black lab Buddy.Buddy is a bundle of energy and has a lot of character but with the the help of Leah and her classes Buddy will settle happily in any situation with attention fully on either me or my husband! We have completed loose lead, puppy and junior training classes and can’t wait to continue with our recall in the summer!
