Barney had a session with Edee to work on recall and it was amazing. Edee is a great trainer and gave us lots to work from I would 100% recommend CDTA and will definitely use Edee again.
Today we attended the Sit, Stay, Find it training, run by Edee. Such a great session, Huck loved it, and now we have new games and training to keep our border terrier busy! Thank you!
Alessia was fantastic. Took time to understand the requirements and very attentive with my pooch! I found the first session very insightful and extremely beneficial and will be booking more in the coming weeks. Overall fantastic experience and already seeing the benefits at home! Thanks Alessia
PENARTH DOCK railway station served the docks area of Penarth. The Taff Vale Railway built its line to Penarth in 1865, later extending it to Lavernock, Sully & Cadoxton. Penarth Dock & Harbour station opened in 1878. The name was changed to Penarth Dock in 1928. The station was staffed & had 2 platforms with substantial buildings, linked by a footbridge. Despite this, it was very quiet during the day, & received almost all its revenue from morning & evening rush hour trains. It was closed on Sundays. The station closed in January 1962. Most of the buildings are still present, & have been used by a range of businesses, including a shooting range, a garden centre, a 2nd-hand car lot and a marine chandlers. The line is still open as far as Penarth, though it has been single track since 1967.
Edee was awesome with our dog! She gave us some really helpful things to try moving forward with his training. I really recommend working with her!

Serving all areas including Penarth town centre, Stanwell Road, Cogan, and the Marina, we've successfully trained over 850 dogs throughout the Vale of Glamorgan in recent years. Penarth presents distinct training requirements shaped by its coastal location and close-knit community atmosphere. The town's stunning seafront, extensive cliff walks, and proximity to Cardiff Bay create excellent training environments but also mean dogs encounter wildlife, cyclists, and fellow walkers daily. Our trainers specialise in building reliable recall essential for enjoying Cosmeston Lakes Country Park and the Wales Coast Path safely.
The town's Victorian and Edwardian housing, alongside modern Marina developments, creates varied living situations requiring dogs comfortable with stairs, shared pathways, and community spaces. We understand local dynamics including busy summer tourism periods, the vibrant Penarth Pier Pavilion events, and train travel on the Penarth to Cardiff line, ensuring your dog remains calm and well-mannered throughout all situations.
Our puppy programmes focus on early development during the critical 8-16 week period, introducing young dogs to Penarth's coastal environment including beach sounds, seabirds, coastal paths, and the diverse surfaces around Windsor Road and Plymouth Road. Training covers house training, crate training, basic commands, and controlled socialisation sessions in locations like Alexandra Park, building confident, adaptable town residents.
We develop reliable off-lead control essential for enjoying Penarth's extensive walking routes safely. Training builds bombproof recall despite distractions including other dogs on the cliff paths, wildlife at Cosmeston Lakes, and activity around the Cardiff Bay Barrage. Sessions in varied locations ensure dogs respond reliably whether walking through quiet residential streets near St Augustine's Church or amid the bustle of Penarth Marina.
Dog training in Penarth typically ranges from £35-65 per hour for private sessions, with package deals offering better value at £250-450 for 6-8 week programmes. Many local trainers offer initial consultations to discuss your dog's specific needs before committing to a training programme.
Puppy training should begin immediately when bringing your dog home, typically around 8 weeks old. The critical socialisation window between 8-16 weeks makes early exposure to Penarth's coastal environment essential. Puppies can join group classes after initial vaccinations at approximately 10-12 weeks, though dogs of any age benefit from professional training.
Yes, dogs can be trained for excellent beach behaviour essential for enjoying Penarth's seafront and nearby coastal areas.
