Kim is an excellent dog trainer and has helped us significantly over the years with issues with our rescue dogs She can read the dog and situation so well and provides an excellent programme of changed behaviours (mainly by us) to help our dogs have their best life I can’t recommend her highly enough

Kim is absolutely fantastic! She really understands your dog. Kim noticed the problem straight away and was open and honest with us about what causes Roxie's reactions. We gave the new routine 100%, and within 48 hours, we already saw a change in our girl. Not only is Kim a fantastic dog trainer, but she is also easy to get along with, and you know you are getting the truth from her. We are so looking forward to continuing our training with her, and we know she really has our dogs' best interests at heart.

Absolutely thrilled with the service from Kim . She came to me for a 3 hour session ( which lasted 4) to help with my recently acquired 2 1/2 year old sibling Poodles. The main problem , which started to develop after 6 weeks with me , was reactivity to others dogs. We still have a way to go but I’m amazed at the progress so far , sound, sensible advice from a clearly very knowledgeable lady . So happy I found her 👍

Kim clearly understands dog behaviour and is very effective at diagnosing specific issues. Our 2 dogs are very different and Kim tailors strategies to their individual needs. We highly recommend Kim who goes above and beyond what is expected of her, taking extra time if needed and making follow up calls/texts to check on progress, such is her passion for finding a solution. We are really pleased that we found Kim to help us out and have seen much improvement because of her advice.

Kim came to see us and our young cockerpoo for 1-2-1 training recently to advise on lead training and general obedience. We are very pleased with the results and know that it is up to us to keep going with the ‘homework’ she gave us! Thank you Kim!

Had a really good session with Jon for Ted's issues with bins and neighbours dogs. Jon was very thorough, explained things clearly and, although it's going to take some hard work, I feel I now have the tools to make good progress. His techniques are kind, and aim to get to the root of the issue rather than quick temporary fixes - just what I want to make a genuinely happy dog.

Had a session with Jon for our dog, who has been struggling with visitors coming around. Jon was fantastic at describing and demonstrating a variety of different techniques suited to our dogs needs and preferences using only positive reenforcement and attention breaks. Within that one session the change in behaviour was obvious and we have been able to calm him down ourselves with the application of what we've been taught. We also have access to a lot of post-session support (which is great because Jon is a lovely man and nice to talk to). Very pleased and would highly recommend!

We never thought we’d be able to open our door without having a Weimaraner bark and jump at the door. Having Jon round today has proven us wrong. Jon is an incredible trainer with such knowledge and passion in his work. He shows a genuine interest in his clients though his pleasant and kind nature. Highly recommended to anyone who is struggling with heir dog. Thanks Jon you’ve given us a fresh start 😊

Jon came to my house to help me with my Dog attention barking and barking in the garden excessively. Jon’s knowledge was next to none! I saw a huge difference in Rumble within 2 hours of training. Jon was super patient and explained the knowledge behind everything he was teaching us.

Would recommend Jon, Canine Assist. I had 30 minutes discussion and was able to arrange a training session. Very happy with Jon’s approach to training. He quickly understood my dogs behaviour and the best way to encourage good behaviour. We are working through a training programme which is already seeing improvements.

I cannot recommend Tom and Sharne highly enough. I have two Dobermans (aged 4 and 6) who, due to a change in my personal circumstances, had not received the training or boundaries they needed. When they came to live with me in March this year, I was unable to take them out at all — they were extremely reactive to other dogs, constantly barking and trying to get to them, even when walking in a secure field. My 6-year-old girl in particular is very sensitive and anxious, and I really wanted to give them the best chance of becoming part of the family. I found Tom and Sharne and decided to send both dogs to their four-week boot camp — and I can honestly say they have worked miracles. Both dogs are now so much more relaxed, especially my girl. They can walk calmly next to other dogs without reacting, and they are able to settle and relax even when dogs are nearby. For the first time, I can confidently take them out myself and continue the great work Tom and Sharne have done. The support didn’t end at the boot camp either. They gave us a detailed handover, were incredibly helpful and adaptable throughout, and reassured me that they are there if I need any guidance going forward. My Dobermans are not only calmer and happier, but they also look fantastic — they were overweight before, and now they’ve toned up and look exactly as a healthy Doberman should. It’s clear how much care and love Tom and Sharne gave them — I can see the bond they built, and I know my dogs were very well looked after. I will definitely be booking with them again whenever I need to go away.

I dropped my beagle off to Vislor kennels when we went away on holiday and they were fabulous. Sharne was very professional, good communication and sent me some updates too when I was on holiday. Milo seemed to of have the best time and he’s been knackered since he’s been home too so they’ve well and truly spoilt him and kept him very busy! I will 100% be using these guys again very shortly whenever I need overnight care again! So easy and so chill throughout the whole process! Thanks guys xx

We sent Max (pur 10 month old Patterjack) to Tom and Sharne after several other trainers struggled to help him. Max was incredibly reactive to everything when out on walks, barking at most things and pulling hard on the lead. Tom and Sharne had Max for 3 weeks and the we cannot believe the difference in Max since collecting him. He walks by our side now, no barking and we can take him to busy areas without any concern or worry. We had regular updates throughout the 3 weeks from them both including photos and videos of Max and he was clearly well looked after and has formed a strong bond with Tom after his time there. They also offering boarding so if we ever need to board Max we will 100% be sending him here as they were absolutely brilliant with him. Thanks so much Tom & Sharne!

Approached Sharne and Tom for support for our boy Murphy to help better manage his anxiety which made him reactive and lack of attention in his walks. 3 weeks in residential training and the effect has been huge. First walk back with him today after getting him home, walks to heel and past dogs running up to him with no bother - now is the time for us to put their hard work into more practice but it’s made walking him so much more enjoyable and he is far more relaxed. Couldn’t recommend highly enough and worth every penny!

Professional Dog Trainers in Chellaston: Expert Canine Training Services

Finding qualified dog trainers in Chellaston means connecting with professionals who understand the unique character of this thriving South Derby suburb. From training puppies near the scenic Chellaston Park to managing reactive dogs along the Trent and Mersey Canal towpath, our certified trainers deliver personalised obedience training, behaviour modification, and puppy socialisation programmes designed for village life on Derby's southern edge.

Serving Chellaston, Shelton Lock, Aston-on-Trent, and surrounding DE73 postcode areas, we've successfully trained over 850 dogs in the past eight years. Our expertise addresses the specific needs of this semi-rural community, from navigating the busy High Street to enjoying off-lead exercise at Melbourne Road Recreation Ground.

Why Choose Professional Dog Training in Chellaston

Chellaston presents distinct training opportunities shaped by its blend of established residential areas, new housing developments, and excellent access to countryside walks. The village's proximity to Elvaston Castle Country Park and multiple canal paths provides superb training environments, though proper recall and lead manners remain essential for safe enjoyment of these popular spaces where dogs frequently encounter cyclists, walkers, and wildlife.

Our trainers specialise in addressing challenges specific to Chellaston living, including desensitising dogs to traffic along Swarkestone Road, preparing them for the bustling atmosphere during community events at Chellaston Academy, and ensuring good behaviour in local dog-friendly establishments. We understand that many Chellaston residents enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle, requiring dogs with reliable recall for countryside rambles and confidence around livestock on nearby footpaths.

Dog Training Solutions for Chellaston Residents

Puppy Foundation Training and Early Socialisation

Our puppy programmes focus on the critical 8-16 week socialisation period, systematically introducing young dogs to Chellaston's environment including residential streets, the recreation ground, and canal paths. Training covers house training, crate training for modern homes, basic commands, and controlled socialisation sessions that build confidence around other dogs, children, and the diverse scenarios encountered in this active community.

Recall Training and Off-Lead Reliability

With excellent access to open spaces like Elvaston Castle Country Park just minutes away, reliable recall training proves essential for Chellaston dog owners. We develop bombproof recall despite distractions including deer, other dogs, and picnickers, incorporating distance commands and emergency stops. Training in varied locations ensures dogs respond reliably whether on quiet village streets or amid the activity of popular weekend walking destinations.

Reactive Dog Rehabilitation

Our behaviour modification programmes address leash reactivity on village pavements, fear-based responses, and barrier frustration common in family homes. Using positive reinforcement and systematic desensitisation, we help dogs develop calm responses to triggers encountered along the canal or in residential areas, replacing unwanted behaviours with focus and self-control.
