We visited Max Canine a few days ago for a 1-2-1 assessment with Emily. Our dog is nearly 5 years of age and suffers from anxiety when first meeting other dogs and strangers. She was a ‘lockdown’ puppy and we did not get the opportunity to socialise her. We were very impressed with the way Emily understood our concerns and the excellent advice and tips we received which are already having a positive effect on our dog when going for walks. We now plan to participate in future group training sessions at Max Canine and would highly recommend Emily.
We approached Emily after a friend recommendation and we were not disappointed. As first time dog owners to a lovely staffy, we did need some guidance to start off at the right foot. If you have a puppy and just want to start things right before developing any/too many issues Emily's help is so valuable. We have had a 1:1 session and attended a lot of the socialisation groups last summer which helped so much. Everything we've learnt we have continuously put into practice and we now have a lovely 2 yr old happy dog that we can take anywhere with us, even a successful holiday to France walking the busy streets of Bordeaux with the most calm and happy boy. To add to that, the confidence you gave me with off lead walking was massive and we enjoy off lead walks daily and I have peace of mind with our dogs recall being brilliant. Thank you! 10000% recommend - worth the time, trust and money (very reasonably priced too). Definitely worth it and your dog will thank you❤️
After struggling with DIY/online training with our very fearful, Romanian rescue, Finlay, we saw Max Canine on Facebook and thought it was time to see a proper behaviourist and the reviews helped us to decide on Max Canine. Emily's set-up in Carrog was ideal for the one-to-one assessment session. The session was great. Emily is really friendly and clearly knows what she's doing with anxious dogs, and explained the psychology really well. We covered basic tweaks like how we hold the lead and control the pace on walks to help Finlay ignore his triggers. Finlay's biggest fear is bicycles on walks - but by the end of the session, Finlay was completely ignoring Emily's bike and just admiring the nearby sheep. We've got a long way to go with Finlay but from taking on Emily's advice, we're noticing improvements already after just two days. We're looking forward to working with Emily and her team going forward!
Highly recommend Emily and Max Canine. My 16 month old dog has responded so well to the advice given by Emily having completed a 1-2-1 session. Focused around what I want for my dog, recall and reduced reactivity, Emily has been able to give some brilliant training to build on. He has already shown such a brilliant improvement after one session which gave me the confidence to take him along to a group session which was great.
I cannot recommend Emily enough. Ori is a collie cross from Croatia. I had been told by multiple trainers he was never able to go off lead and his prey drive had been ‘activated’ and wouldn’t get better. I put him in residential training for around 9 days as his main issue was chasing sheep. ALWAYS chasing sheep. I was kept up to date sent pics and vids showing him to me and what was being taught etc so felt super at ease. Not only that day 2 she was sat with Ori in a field off lead surrounded by sheep. She explained his main focus being around our relationship and took time to show me and explain why and how things work. Absolutely amazing! and Ori is so much more settled as a dog. Listens more and I understand him more. Our walks are more relaxed and I’m no longer terrified of seeing a sheep or anything that moves on a walk. Recommend!!!!

Vicki has been absolutely incredible with our dog bruno. He takes some time to get comfortable with new people but he created a bond with Vicki on our first walk together as she just understood him so well and gained his trust! She’s helping us get Bruno more comfortable with the vets as well as walking Bruno when we go away. I’m so glad I found Vicki as I never have to worry. Her knowledge about dog behaviour and working with nervous dogs has been an enormous help in Bruno’s progress, we don’t know what we’d do without her anymore 🫶
Ever since Vicky came out with my German Shepherd Axel and myself, our daily walks have become really chilled out and enjoyable thanks to Vickys de-escalation techniques and enforcement of positive behaviour, I would recommend Vicky to any dog owner with a challenging best friend. Thankyou Vicky from Axel and myself, Marc
I had a very nervous Jack Russell who was so frightened to go to the vet that he used to dig his heels in once we reached the car park and had to be carried in and restrained for any treatment. That was until we met Vicki. She has worked so hard to turn this around by using sessions within the vet surgery to reduce his fear. He now willingly walks in to the vets, and we recently had a successful vaccination session with no fear, no stress, and no need for restraint. I know this would never have been the case if it wasn’t for Vicki. Her sessions are always so well structured, but delivered with an element of fun that allows her to engage with the dog to achieve the desired results. We are now working on desensitising him to other interventions: stethoscopes, dental checks and eye checks. If you want to desensitise your dog to vet visits, I can’t recommend Vicki highly enough. Thank you Vicki, I don’t know what me and Hooper would do without you :)
Absolutely incredible behaviourist and dog trainer. I have had the privilege of working with Vicki in a clinical setting and she has literally transformed so many frightened pets who were scared to come into the vets - kindness, gentle training and encouragement are her trademarks. If you have any challenging issues hindering your pets life, give Vicki a call!
Vicki spent over an hour with my German Shepherd Axel and myself recently, Vicki,s behavioural knowledge and ability to compare animal behaviour to human behaviour has really helped me correct how I reacted to Axel's behaviour and him to mine. I would recommend this amazing lady to any dog owner, Thank you Vicki, Marc and Axel

Chelsea has made such a difference to the behaviour of our rescue dogs - calmer, better able to handle different situations and generally happier, and so are we
Absolutely amazing!! Took my 11 month old cocker spaniel and got some fantastic tips on how to overcome his social anxiety! Would definitely recommend!
Chelsea is so knowledgable about dogs and their behaviour. I was so worried taking my reactive dog to training but Chelsea made me feel comfortable, she explained my dogs behaviours to me and showed me dogs she had worked with who were no longer reactive giving me hope. She offers a wide range of fun and interesting classes, I wish I could attend them all 😂
Chelsea has, and continues to help our yellow dog who is scared of other dogs, lorries and bikes. She has regular sessions for training, either multi dog or 121 as well has hosting some great activity classes. Highly recommend, her work and training has and continues to help our us and our dog.
Chelsea is amazing. We attended a scent work session which kept our old boy busy. She was so patient with him. She will always put our furry friends welfare first. Highly recommend and trust Chelsea 100%

Madoc and I had a fantastic time doing the puppy class. Marta is very welcoming friendly and professional .I would highly recommend her classes to anyone with a puppy.
We were made to feel really welcome and was able to accommodate my mum as well who struggles to stand for too long. My puppy, that I was seriously struggling with basic recall with, managed to improve on that from the first lesson. The lessons were fun and interactive and informative. I would come back and would recommend Marta every time.

Finding qualified dog trainers in Conwy means connecting with professionals who understand the unique challenges of dog ownership in this historic North Wales town. From training puppies along the scenic Conwy Marina to managing reactive dogs near the iconic Conwy Castle, our certified trainers deliver personalised obedience training, behaviour modification, and puppy socialisation programmes tailored to coastal living.
Serving Conwy town centre, Deganwy, Llandudno Junction, and surrounding areas, we've successfully trained over 1,800 dogs across the region. Our expertise addresses local challenges from beach training to mountain path recall, ensuring your dog thrives in this beautiful Welsh environment.
Conwy presents distinctive training opportunities shaped by its coastal location, medieval heritage sites, and proximity to Snowdonia National Park. Dogs require excellent recall for exploring Conwy Mountain trails and beach areas like Morfa Beach, while also needing calm behaviour when navigating the narrow streets of the historic walled town and busy tourist areas around Conwy Quay.
Local challenges include desensitising dogs to seagulls, training appropriate beach behaviour, and managing encounters with livestock on surrounding farmland. Our trainers understand seasonal variations, from summer tourist crowds at Conwy Castle to quieter winter walks along the coastal path, ensuring year-round training effectiveness.
Our puppy programmes introduce young dogs to Conwy's unique environment including beach surfaces, coastal wildlife, tourist activity, and varying terrain from flat marina walks to hillside paths. Training covers essential commands, lead walking, and confidence building in diverse settings from Bodlondeb Park to the Conwy Estuary foreshore.
We specialise in developing reliable recall essential for safely enjoying Conwy's beaches, countryside walks, and mountain trails. Training progresses from controlled environments to high-distraction areas including wildlife encounters, other dogs, and the temptations of beach exploration, ensuring your dog responds consistently whether at Conwy RSPB Nature Reserve or on Sychnant Pass.
Dog training in Conwy typically costs £35-65 per hour for private sessions, with 6-week group classes ranging from £120-200. Specialist behaviour consultations for issues like recall or reactivity usually cost £50-80 for initial assessments. Many trainers offer package deals and mobile services throughout the LL31, LL32, and surrounding areas.
Absolutely. We specialise in training dogs for Conwy's diverse environments including beach etiquette, wildlife distraction management, and mountain path safety. Training covers recall around seabirds, appropriate behaviour near livestock, and confident navigation of varied terrain. Most dogs achieve reliable off-lead control within 8-12 weeks of consistent training.
Begin training immediately when you bring your puppy home, typically around 8 weeks old. Early exposure to Conwy's coastal environment, tourist activity, and varied terrain during the critical 8-16 week socialisation period creates confident, well-adjusted dogs. Structured classes can begin after initial vaccinations at approximately 10-12 weeks.
Expert dog training in Conwy creates confident companions ready to enjoy everything this stunning Welsh town offers, from beach walks to mountain adventures. Our proven methods combine professional expertise with deep local knowledge, ensuring your dog thrives whether exploring the historic town walls or running freely on Conwy Morfa Beach.
