Took our 1 year old female french bulldog to see Mudge and Beast to address her reactivity to dogs (mainly, but any moving creature!) and get our life back! Mudge was extremely patient with our dog as she is nervous/anxious and her reactivity was mainly driven by fear. He took the time to explain his theories and techniques in easy ways anyone could understand. Although our pup took a bit longer to 'get it'...she is very stubborn! Mudge didnt rush us and spent the time she and i both needed. He trained me as much as the dog. After working with another trainer for 3 months prior with little success, Mudge got our dog walking beautifully on leash, paying no attention to distractions or Beast! And addressed her demand jumping as a bonus too! We left with homework and we are yet to test her in our real life situations (real dogs, cafes, pubs etc), hence 4 starsat the min (will update to 5 once we've tried!), but am confident if we follow what Mudge told us she'll be okay. Thank you, Mudge 🙏🙏
Awful
We spent half a day with Mudge and the rapid results with Joey were epic! I’m almost still shook about how fast! We’ve continued what we learnt and not only does he now walk like an angel he’s also much calmer at home. We’re excited to continue the methods to help him further!
I brought my wife's German Shepherd in who is human friendly but was very reactive to other dogs, very anxious and wouldn't sit still. Mudge helped me understand why he was behaving this way, how to bring the dog to a heel, and how to correct behaviour which has helped my dog tremendously to not react to other dogs. Walking him is now a joy as he isn't on 100mph all the time reacting to everything and he respects the "mode" he is in. When he's on heel he stays by my side like he is holding my hand metaphorically, and when he's on free mode he knows he can sniff around have fun and be a dog. Very happy with the results and would highly recommend to any dog owners having trouble with anxious or reactive dogs.
We have a very reactive 2 year old Olde English Bulldoggie and Mudge (Big Dog Fellas) put him through his paces today. He worked on getting him to walk by our side, not react to door bells, post men etc… and then when beast came out…: well I have no words!! It wasn’t all plain sailing because of his level of reactivity but all I can say is I could have cried at the difference Mudge has made! We will be keeping up with the training 💯 can’t thank him enough. Plus we understand more about why a dog shouldn’t be treated like a human baby 🤣

Paul is very knowledgeable and offers practical straight forward assistance and advice. My rescue dog boarded with Paul for 2 weeks, during which time Paul undertook an assessment of all her behavioural traits and offered practical and honest solutions and advice. Each dog is unique and its clear Paul understands that and doesn't just offer generic, off the shelf advice, it is tailored to the dog and the owner's own personal circumstances with the end goal of enhancing the dog/owner relationship. I would certainly recommend Paul.
Paul has been fantastic in training us to train our dog. we recently rescued a 1 year old rescue boxer who had very little training, pulled like a train and is lead reactive. We have done 121 sessions that have helped give us the tools (and timings!) we and Gus need to manage this and really seeing progress now, which in turn is building our confidence. Paul’s approach is kind and no nonsense and in a real life setting. Would definitely recommend any humans needing help training themselves and their dog!
Our rescue English Setter (who has a high prey drive, pulls strongly on the lead and is nervous of large noisy vehicles) has come on leaps and bounds since we started training sessions with Paul. Would highly recommend.
Found the classes useful for helping with recall and on lead behaviour.
I’m a first time dog owner. Lessons have been very reassuring, and I like the fact they are all outside.

We signed up to the 6 weeks 1-1 training with our dog shadow and wow what a fantastic experience. He went from being anxious, nervous around other dogs, over stimulated with other humans and very excited on the lead. He struggled to settle and struggled in day to day life. Flash forward 6 weeks with Lauren and he is a happy doggy who is more settled, has a much improved recall, is comfortable in new situations and all together less anxious. He has progressed so much in 6 weeks and we cant’t wait to continue his training. Lauren made learning with shadow so easy, personalising the training to his needs and adapting it to his reactions. We have loved the sessions and I know shadow has too. It has helped him become so much more relaxed and has learned some amazing new skills to help with life when it gets too loud. Thank you so much Lauren we are very excited to come to group classes now and continue to progress with our training 😊
Just completed a 6 week private package with focus dog training. Lauren has been amazing with my French bulldog silva and we have all learned so much! I did not think it would be possible to see a difference in her such as pulling on walks or reactive to other dogs but she has. We still have a way to go but all the tips and tricks will definitely help us keep building on enjoyable walks together. Thank you!
We’ve had a really good experience with Focus from the start. Both Rach and Lauren have been super flexible with us which has been great and very much appreciated! You can tell just how much they actually care about the dogs too. Lauren has been a fantastic trainer. We’ve gradually built upon foundational skills over time. After each session she provides feedback and some homework which is great. We’ve seen a HUGE improvement in Cooper’s lead walking, and his engagement with us on walks. We’ve learned what does and doesn’t work for Cooper, and my confidence with knowing how to deal with tricky situations on walks has definitely grown. I’ve gone from not wanting to walk him on my own through fear of him being reactive, to being able to walk him on lead in public spaces and getting him to engage with me. We use the techniques taught by Focus daily and we’re happy with Coopers progress so far. We’re hoping with consistency he continues in the right direction 😊
Lauren has been amazing. We went into this process a bit sceptical but we have learnt things we never could have done reading articles on the internet. We have a deeper understanding as Lauren is full of knowledge and is super efficient during her sessions. They were also really understanding and flexible as we had a few personal issues so had to change a few sessions. Maggie (our 9 month old Cavapoo) has really enjoyed the sessions, and when Lauren was here was the perfect dog! We will continue to put in the hard work as can see the potential and changes in Maggie already.
Wonderful trainers. Really good and helpful advice about dealing with my reactive terrier Jeff. Could not recommend them highly enough.

Nice open dog field that's well kept
First visit today. Loved it! Lots of things to keep the dog interested and plenty of space to run around. Liked the owners shelter for wet/windy days. Easy booking and parking system. Will be back.
Safe, clean and great fun!! Good value, what more could you ask for!!
Brilliant dog park. Would highly recommend
Brilliant dog park. As a dog boarder I bring a group for a play every Wednesday morning and they love it so much. It’s the best dog park we have been to locally. There’s a range of toys, balls, games, treats, puzzles, sand pit, water play and a shelter for humans! And best of all great washing facilities after in the secure car park. I also love the Astro turf round the edge for when it’s muddy with the bad weather, it means I can stay upright unlike some muddy parks! It’s a really spacious park, with just so much to do. Both me and the dogs absolutely love it here 😍 🐶 we always have a great time whatever the weather when we come to Pool Dog Park

Highly reccomend Pippa to anyone. Our spaniel was having some seperation issues which meant she wasn't coping being left home alone. Pippa took the time to look at her whole routine and come up with a plan to make alone time a less anxious experience but in the most fun and rewarding way. We have seen so much progress because of her advice and have a much happier dog now who has gone from howling to happily settling on the sofa. Can't thank her enough.
Pippa has very effectively and enjoyably 'trained the trainer' and transformed my relationship with a very lively new puppy from a war of attrition to a source of great joy and pleasure. She has a real understanding of doggy mentality and my pup gets so excited when she arrives for training. She's helped me understand that this young pup is just a toddler and like a toddler he needs stimulus, rest and reward. I actually enjoy training the pup now and we have a lot of fun together. Before Pippa I was actually becoming exhausted (I'm 72 with back trouble in fairness!). Now puppy time is pleasure time. Thanks Pippa!
I found Pippa by reading previous reviews when I was searching for a dog trainer. Pippa has supported me and my dog, Milo with his training. In January 2024, Milo started to become reactive to traffic, sirens, sounds of the road crossing and to other dogs. I couldn’t understand why suddenly he had changed when we went on walks and it became stressful for both of us. Milo would lunge at cars while we waited to cross the road, swinging himself into the road when cars went by and if he was off lead on the stray, run after motorbikes or the sound of cars that made loud noises. I just had to watch him run towards the vehicles because he would not listen to his recall and I had to wait for him to realise he had gone too far then come back to me. Pippa explained why Milo was reacting the way he was. He was so stressed by the traffic that putting other factors in, like dogs walking past was too much and it was an overload for him. Through lots of training and practicing techniques between sessions Milo is like a different dog. We have had to put him on anti anxiety medication because he was so wired that he couldn’t concentrate on the training. But with medication and the training Milo has become calmer and happier on our walks and more focused on his training. We don’t have to avoid traffic too much now as he knows his commands and is more relaxed. We still have plenty to work on but Pippa is worth every penny.
My mum and I needed help with our little terrier mix Rafa (rescued street dog from Gran Canaria). He was very anxious on walks and was terrified of strange dogs which led to a lot of lunging, barking and growling in order to make sure any dog that came close would go away asap. These problems were exacerbated by my mum getting anxious when taking him out as she walks with a stick and he had pulled her over a couple of times. I've known Pippa for years but now was the time we needed her professionally and she was fantastic. We booked 3 sessions, the first at home so she could get to know Rafa and show us some training methods to start practising. The second 2 were out on walks to implement our new techniques and make any necessary adjustments. She was especially good at giving mum alternatives to 'standard' training that took into consideration her mobility issues. The improvements have been immense. It's unlikely that Rafa will ever be able to greet strange dogs but he is now happy to watch them pass without becoming terrified and his walks are more enjoyable for him (and us) thanks to his reduced anxiety levels. I can't recommend Pippa enough, she's everything you could want from a dog trainer.
Pippa is a brilliant trainer. She has helped me when I had two whippets and still helps me now when I have just one. The remaining dog is quite unique and had become very reactive to most dogs. With her help, guidance, skill and support my dog has gone from being a dog I just didn’t want to walk because of how reactive she was to now being off the lead, waiting to be told to go and meet other dogs and allowing those dogs to get close and play with her. My dog is still a work in progress but having her is an absolute pleasure now thanks to Pippa.
