I recently did some further Emmi-Pet training with Antonia and I cannot recommend her highly enough. It is 1:1 so a comfortable learning pace with time to make notes and opportunities to ask questions. Antonia is extremely knowledgeable and thorough. She is good at explaining how the system works, it's importance and how to spot warning signs that may need a vet referral. Antonia will also hold your hand whilst you put your new knowledge to practice and is happy to answer any questions you have after the course too. I feel so much more confident in offering this service now - thank you so much!
After completing a webinar training session with another company, I still didn't feel confident using the emmi pet tooth brush and my own dogs wouldn't let me do it either. So I decided to complete 1-2-1 training with Antonia, The Canine Queen. She organised a practice dog and showed me that I was applying too much pressure to the tooth and thats why my dogs were playing up, which you can't teach over a webinar. She also assured me that even though you dont really see any bubbles that it is working. She had loads of info on dog teeth and the stages of periodontal disease and when we should be referring to a vet. I'm still a little unsure but my own dogs are letting me practice now because I'm doing it right, so hopefully I'll have some new tooth clients soon and my own doggies teeth will be gleaming :). I've also recieved a certificate of completion of training which will be nice addition to my salon wall. Thankyou Antonia!

Finding qualified dog trainers in Mickleover means connecting with professionals who understand the unique character of this popular Derby suburb. From training puppies in the residential streets near Mickleover Golf Course to managing reactive dogs along the popular walking routes through Mickleover Sports Centre grounds, our certified trainers deliver personalised obedience training, behaviour modification, and puppy socialisation programmes designed for suburban living.
Serving all areas including Mickleover village centre, Uttoxeter Road, and the surrounding estates, we've successfully trained over 800 dogs in the local area during the past eight years. Our expertise addresses the specific needs of Mickleover dog owners, from navigating busy Uttoxeter New Road to enjoying off-lead exercise at nearby Markeaton Park.
Mickleover presents distinct training requirements shaped by its mix of residential estates, local parks, and proximity to Derby's green spaces. The area's family-friendly atmosphere means dogs regularly encounter children, cyclists, and other pets on daily walks through streets like Station Road and Etwall Road. Proper socialisation and lead manners prove essential for harmonious community living in this close-knit suburb.
Local residents benefit from excellent access to training environments including nearby Markeaton Park, which provides ideal opportunities for distraction training and recall work. Our trainers understand the challenges of suburban dog ownership, from managing behaviour in homes with neighbouring properties to ensuring dogs remain calm during the school run along Ladybank Road. We also prepare dogs for visits to Mickleover's dog-friendly establishments and local community events throughout the year.
Our puppy programmes focus on establishing essential skills during the critical 8-16 week socialisation period. We introduce young dogs to Mickleover's suburban environment including traffic noise, doorbell responses, garden boundaries, and appropriate behaviour around children and visitors. Training covers house training, crate training, bite inhibition, and basic commands, ensuring puppies develop into well-adjusted family companions.
Many Mickleover dogs encounter reactivity challenges when meeting other dogs on residential streets or in nearby parks. Our behaviour modification programmes address leash reactivity, fear-based responses, and barrier frustration using positive reinforcement techniques. We help dogs learn calm responses to triggers, making walks through the neighbourhood enjoyable rather than stressful for both dogs and owners.
For dogs ready to enjoy off-lead freedom at locations like Markeaton Park, our advanced training develops reliable recall despite distractions including wildlife, other dogs, and picnickers. This training gives owners confidence to provide proper exercise while maintaining complete control in open spaces.
Dog training in Mickleover typically ranges from £35-65 per hour for private sessions, with 6-week packages averaging £220-400. Group classes cost approximately £10-18 per session, offering excellent value for basic obedience training in a social environment.
Popular training locations include the open spaces at Markeaton Park, quieter residential streets throughout Mickleover, and your own home or garden. Many trainers offer mobile services, bringing professional expertise directly to your doorstep for convenience.
Begin training immediately when you bring your puppy home, typically around 8 weeks old. The critical socialisation window between 8-16 weeks makes early training essential for developing a confident, well-adjusted dog suited to Mickleover's community environment.
