We first contacted Roger approximately 18 months ago to help us with our crazy Chocolate Labrador puppy, Bear. Fast forward to the current day and Roger has helped us transform Bear into the perfect pup! He is so obedient and well behaved that we often get compliments from people when we are out and about with him. The only problem is that Roger has helped us so much that we thought it would be a good idea to challenge ourselves with another Chocolate Labrador Puppy, Rolo! He has just started his training journey with Roger and we are already starting to see positive progress. We cannot recommend Roger aka Dovesflight Dog Training enough!
We called Roger because we were at our wits end and with a baby on the way needed help quickly. Our 2.5 year old GSD is a super sweet soft boy but when out his heel work was not perfect and we found ourselves constantly having to correct him, he would also lunge, bark, growl etc at pretty much every dog we passed and it's safe to say walks were not becoming enjoyable. Despite having tried 2 trainers in the past we felt like we weren't getting anywhere and the training methods just didn't work for him or us. We also couldn't trust him around other dogs off lead his drive just had him ignoring us completely (no matter what we did) and running towards other dogs. In just 3 sessions with Roger the change in Max and us (because it's all about training the human) is almost unrecognisable & even after the first session several family members commented on the noticeable difference already. We are still at the early stages of our training but with Roger's help we have all the tools we now need to get the best out of Max and have Max get the best out of us. If you are considering Roger, don't think just go for it! Our only regret is that we didn't get in touch with him sooner.
Roger has helped us so much to be able to have a calm and well behaved dog . We are know able to enjoy walks and days out with no trouble. Before going to Doveflight are wired haired vizsla was a thief for food , very high energy and had pick up bad habits from running off and not listening to commands. We have enjoyed every training sessions with Roger learning so much and being able to come away with a well behaved dog. Highly recommend
Thanks Roger for all you have done with scooby. You have helped us make a ex hunting working resuce dog which couldn't be walked off led or near any game animals with out being reactive. To now he can be let off In appropriate places and now responding to commands.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Game-Changer for Us and Our Working Cocker Spaniel We took our 18 month old Working Cocker Spaniel, Bailey, to Doves Flight Gundog Training after realising we’d hit a bit of a wall. He is a lovely dog, full of energy and affection, but also a real handful. Pulling on the lead, jumping up, no recall, and even barking for attention... walks weren’t relaxing, and cafés or pubs were off-limits unless we fancied chaos with our coffee. From the very first session, Roger’s approach stood out. Calm, experienced, and straight-talking. What became clear very quickly was that this wasn’t just about training Bailey, it was about educating us. We'd been far too soft with Bailey, treating him more like a 'mate' than a dog who needed guidance and clear boundaries. And because of that, Bailey simply didn’t see us as ‘leaders’ worth listening to. From the first session, the difference has been remarkable. Bailey now walks beautifully on a loose lead, and we’re well on the way to reliable off-lead heel work. He comes back when called, even when there’s something far more exciting going on, and he settles down quietly in the house. No more climbing on furniture, owning the couch or ruling the roost! He’s back to sleeping in his crate, which he now clearly sees as his safe and calm space. One of the biggest changes is how much more enjoyable life is with him. We can now take him out to a café or pub, and he settles without needing constant reassurance or fuss. He’s still very much a ‘work in progress’, but we’re on the right path—and both enjoying the journey. If you’re struggling with a gundog who’s running rings around you, or just want a better relationship with your dog based on mutual respect rather than chaos, I can’t recommend Roger highly enough. His knowledge, support, and down-to-earth teaching style have transformed things for us and made Bailey a much happier, more balanced dog.

Joyful Dogs' puppy life skills course with Helen was excellent. We looked forward to the class each week and learned so much. Helen is great at helping you understand your puppy and was very patient and encouraging, treating each dog as an individual, taking into account their breed and personality so that no one was left behind. In between classes the WhatsApp group was also a really valuable - a place to exchange tips, challenges and achievements, and get midweek advice for various puppy life skills. We and our pup Robin thoroughly recommend Puppy Life Skills with Helen.
I’d highly recommend Helen at Joyful Dogs for puppy training! She was recommended to me by another local trainer and I’m so glad that happened. We have learned so much and over the 6 weeks encountered a few challenging behaviours at home that Helen really helped me work through and make a difference to. Honey has come on so much, she is focused and engaged and really enjoyed the sessions and the practice we have done at home. Helen is calm yet assertive and creates the perfect environment for people and their puppies to learn. I’m so grateful to have found her course and Honey is very proud of her rosette!
After not having a puppy for a number of years, Helen eased all of our worries and got us on the right track with training. Classes are chilled but teach all the initial tips and pointers to continue training once the sessions sadly end!
A brilliant puppy class course covering a range of skills to make being a puppy parent so much smoother. We also opted for a 121 session at home before the classes commenced which was invaluable. Thanks Helen for a great introduction to puppy life!

Our reactive dog greatly benefited from the four week adolescent antics course. The course notes provided explained the games we would be using with our dogs which made an immense improvement to his behaviou
Very easy to say, that I highly recommend Dog-in-a-Box Training , I wished I had found you before when I had other dogs in the past... it would safe me a lot of money. The facilities are five stars also the instructors, very patience with your dog and very knowledgeable. Our dog Pelé did the adolescent training and everything we/ him learnt was great help and we use everyday -It changed his behaviour for better. We will come back soon!!!
Was a brilliant way of training and enjoyable for both of us. Lots of useful tips to keep us going forward. Would definitely recommend this way of training, get results straight away.
I can not thank Dog-in-a-box enough for all the help with my Weineramer puppy, Blanche. I initially did the 4wk puppy training course which was superb and so helpful. It was fun, and so good for socialising a young puppy. Pa was fantastic, so knowledgeable and calming. A few months later I was struggling with house training, recall and had lost my confidence. I organised two sessions at my home with Pa. She is a fairy godmother. I have my confidence back and a happy puppy. I also know she will be there if I need support again.
Our training sessions with Dog-in-a-Box were most beneficial. We now have the foundation skills to practice and build on. My dog has improved considerably, thank you, I would thoroughly recommend the commitment.

Vinny is an incredible trainer, can not praise him enough
Vinny is just an incredible dog trainer, he makes it seem so simple and it was such a shock to see how well our stubborn dog just picked everything up. Vinny clearly understands completely how dogs think and act and teaches you so well all the techniques to help your dog in a way that the dog actually enjoys being trained and responds really well to it. I’m amazed at what our dog is now disciplined with, we could never distract him from food or barking at other dogs and now we can easily make him wait for food and stop barking at dogs. Highly recommended!
I take my dog Fennec to Agility with Vinny at Cotswold Dog Training and highly recommend it. Great fun, good exercise for you and your dog. Vinny is very knowledgeable and patient.
Vinny has trained my dog since he was a puppy. We now go to agility classes where we have great fun in a friendly, supportive environment. Vinny is fantastic at what he does.
I have attended agility sessions run by Vinnie. Not only is he patient with dogs, but also with humans. His expertise shines through. I can tell he really understands dogs; what they might be thinking, and why the behave in a certain way. He instructs how to correct something in an accessible and understandable way.

The Responsive Recall class has given me more confidence in managing my dog around other dogs as well as some fun games and ways to keep my dog engaged and listening to me. All of these techniques will also be really useful when I work with foster dogs in future.
Amy was brilliant always helping with any concerns with puppy training. She puts a huge amount of effort into her work and it shows. Thank you
Amy has been wonderful helping my little rescue dog settle and become more confident. She's calm, gentle and knowledgeable - I've learnt so much from her about what his behaviour means (fear based rather than aggression) and how to respond in ways that are helpful to him. My dog absolutely loves her, it's all those treats she gives him! Post script - having had a series of one to one lessons with Amy initially to help manage my dogs behaviour outside (barking and lunging/ reacting to anything and everybody/ pulling me over on his lead) we had a break for a few months so I could gently work on her advice. We then did 2 lessons in Cirencester Park to try him off the lead to be confident of his recall and interactions with other people and dogs. He's gone from being a fearful reactive dog that I was anxious taking outside to being happy, confident and friendly - walks are a real pleasure as opposed to an ordeal. Amy has transformed my dogs behaviour.
Very professional giving good advice which has been a great help, Amy has a very pleasant attitude and is easy to talk things through with.
Amy has supported me and my dog with our training for a long time now, absolutely incredible trainer and I couldn't recommend her more!
