Have used Emma on a 1-1 basis on a couple of occasions and also attended her classes. Her knowledge is amazing and her help with some issues have been invaluable . Highly recommend to anyone looking for help with training or behaviours that need addressing Emma is that person 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Attending the practical puppy course. The course was informative and fun for both us and the pippy. Emma is really supportive and always happy to answer any questions or concerns. Would highly recommend for first time puppy owners who want a little head start on getting the basics cemented early.
Emma has been a life saver today. I found a stray dog and brought him home to try and track down the owners. After no joy on the Facebook groups or with the Council, I found Emma on a website for scanning microchips. She came to the house straight away and got on with helping. The pup was taken to the dogs home and registered as missing with the dog warden. Emma was comfortable with the dog, clearly knew what she was doing. I'd recommend her services to all! Thanks again.

Barney had a session with Edee to work on recall and it was amazing. Edee is a great trainer and gave us lots to work from I would 100% recommend CDTA and will definitely use Edee again.
Today we attended the Sit, Stay, Find it training, run by Edee. Such a great session, Huck loved it, and now we have new games and training to keep our border terrier busy! Thank you!
Alessia was fantastic. Took time to understand the requirements and very attentive with my pooch! I found the first session very insightful and extremely beneficial and will be booking more in the coming weeks. Overall fantastic experience and already seeing the benefits at home! Thanks Alessia
PENARTH DOCK railway station served the docks area of Penarth. The Taff Vale Railway built its line to Penarth in 1865, later extending it to Lavernock, Sully & Cadoxton. Penarth Dock & Harbour station opened in 1878. The name was changed to Penarth Dock in 1928. The station was staffed & had 2 platforms with substantial buildings, linked by a footbridge. Despite this, it was very quiet during the day, & received almost all its revenue from morning & evening rush hour trains. It was closed on Sundays. The station closed in January 1962. Most of the buildings are still present, & have been used by a range of businesses, including a shooting range, a garden centre, a 2nd-hand car lot and a marine chandlers. The line is still open as far as Penarth, though it has been single track since 1967.
Edee was awesome with our dog! She gave us some really helpful things to try moving forward with his training. I really recommend working with her!

Helen always turns up with a smile on her face and big shout for taking Oggy out in the pouring rain today and Tuesday. Always on time Oggy enjoys his walks and has a good time exploring and sniffing. Overall excellent service
Helen offers a fantastic service - can’t recommend her enough! We adopted two kittens 3 years ago, after they were found (with their mum and siblings) abandoned in the building where I work. Patch and Tabby are VERY cautious of people, and so when we decided to take our first family holiday we are worried about who we would get to feed them for a week. I found Helen’s business online and decided to get in touch! So glad I did! Helen did an initial free consultation visit where she took down every bit of information relating to P&T’s needs and routine. Then whilst we were away Helen gave me twice daily text updates, including photos and videos, of our fur babies, to reassure us that they were doing well! A truly lovely lady and excellent service! Would defo use again 👍🏻😊 x
Helen was incredible! She came at short notice and looked after my boy for 4 days. Pictures and updates were sent to me all the way through. I adore her and wouldn't hesitate to use her again. She is just fantastic and Kiba has decided she's family now. The house was exactly the same as when we left and my ratties were also lovingly cared for too. There's no body else I would want to care for my pets.
Helen is one of the warmest, most genuine and honest people I’ve ever met. Animals also have a great instinct and intuition about people and dogs certainly do. My Barney is no exception. He literally adores Helen. He has had some bad experiences in the past and is a great judge of character. His response to her tells me all I need to know . Nothing is too much trouble for Helen either. She is always prepared to walk the extra mile. I highly recommend her.
Excellent, professional service. Came back to happy and tired dogs who had obviously loved their day of fun, adventures and cuddles! Thank you!

April ‘21 update: so I had that dog emergency and as expected David was brilliant, came to my aide, took charge, calm and reassuring. You get more than a dog walking service, your beloved dogs get a pack! Thank you David!! 2020 post; I’ve been using Leader of the Pack since June 19. I have puppies and a rescue dog and they all have different behaviours and needs and I know they get this on their walks with David. They adore him!!! they are literally jumping and squealing in excitement when the van pulls up. 100% reliable, always willing to give advice and I know I could trust him in a doggie emergency. I can’t recommend David and this business highly enough.
David is brilliant with my border collie. Always collects her on time and she has become so much more responsive to commands when out and around other dogs since walking with him.

Just superb. The knowledge, professionalism and personal touch with Blue Ridge is fantastic. Our dog was reactive and anxious and we have made huge progress with Joe and Stuart. I cannot recommend the team enough. From difficult dogs to specialist advanced training, they can guide you to exactly where you want to be with your dog. They also do weekend Sniffer Clubs for the more adventurous dog. Every base covered. Well done Blue ridge
Can not recommend this place enough only been going a few months and have learnt loads
We as a family highly recommend blue ridge canine academy. We started our journey a little while ago with a very nervous reactive dog who we never thought we would be able to train. We even dreaded going on daily walks but that has now all changed thanks to Joe who has gone above and beyond to help us we started off 1-1 but are now able to attend classes we can’t thank Joe and the blue ridge academy team enough. Nothing is ever to much for these guys. If you are looking for any assistance with your fur baby pleas don’t hesitate to contact the staff at blue ridge canine academy you won’t find a better service any where else.. xx xx
Just started puppy classes and found them very informative and Stuart and Joe, welcoming.... experienced not just in training but also first aid for dogs. Would recommend
Finding qualified dog trainers in Barry means connecting with professionals who understand the unique coastal lifestyle of this vibrant South Wales town. From training puppies to enjoy Barry Island's beaches to managing reactive dogs along the Wales Coast Path, our certified trainers deliver personalised obedience training, behaviour modification, and puppy socialisation programmes tailored to Barry's seaside environment.
Serving all areas including Barry town centre, Barry Island, Cadoxton, and Gibbonsdown, we've successfully trained over 1,800 dogs across the Vale of Glamorgan in recent years. Our expertise addresses local challenges from beach recall training to navigating busy Holton Road and ensuring well-mannered behaviour in Barry's dog-friendly cafés and pubs.
Barry presents unique training opportunities shaped by its coastal location and mix of residential areas, beaches, and parks. The town's popular locations including Porthkerry Country Park, Jackson's Bay, and Whitmore Bay provide excellent training environments, but also mean dogs encounter beach distractions, other canines, and wildlife daily, making proper socialisation and recall training essential.
Our trainers specialise in coastal-specific challenges including teaching reliable recall near water, desensitising dogs to seagulls and waves, and managing behaviour on busy summer beach days. We understand Barry's strong community spirit and ensure dogs are well-mannered in local parks, along the promenade, and throughout residential streets in areas like Highlight Park and Colcot.
Our puppy programmes build essential foundations during the critical 8-16 week period, introducing young dogs to Barry's unique environment including beach sounds, coastal paths, and local parks. Training covers house training, recall, lead walking, and socialisation in locations like Porthkerry Park, creating confident dogs ready for Barry's active outdoor lifestyle.
Barry's expansive beaches and country parks require excellent recall skills. We develop reliable off-lead control despite distractions including other dogs, wildlife in Porthkerry Woods, and beach activities. This training ensures safe exercise whether at Whitmore Bay, along the coastal path, or in Romilly Park.
We address leash reactivity, fear-based behaviours, and aggression using positive reinforcement techniques. Working in real-world locations throughout Barry, we help dogs learn calm responses to triggers, making walks along Friars Road or through Barry town centre enjoyable for both dogs and owners.
Dog training in Barry typically costs £35-65 per hour for private sessions, with 6-week puppy courses ranging from £120-240. Group classes average £10-18 per session, offering affordable options for basic obedience and socialisation training throughout the Vale of Glamorgan area.
Yes, though seasonal restrictions apply on some beaches from May to September. Whitmore Bay and Jackson's Bay have designated dog-friendly areas year-round, providing excellent training environments. Porthkerry Beach and Cold Knap offer winter training opportunities with fewer restrictions, ideal for developing reliable recall near water.
Begin training immediately when bringing your puppy home around 8 weeks old. The critical socialisation period between 8-16 weeks is essential for exposure to Barry's beaches, town centre, and parks. Puppies can join group classes after first vaccinations at approximately 10-12 weeks, though dogs of any age benefit from professional training.
Professional dog training in Barry creates well-adjusted companions ready to enjoy everything this coastal town offers. From beach walks to town centre visits, our proven methods combine positive reinforcement with local knowledge of Barry's unique environment. Whether you live near Barry Island, in Cadoxton, or surrounding villages, expert training ensures your dog becomes a confident, well-mannered member of your family and the wider community.
