I can not fault the puppy classes as I have a German shepherd puppy who is a handful. After doing a 4 wk coarse here I have learnt so much on dog phycology and how to use the reward base training correctly. We started with a introduction on how not to put in bad behaviour as a puppy. Also not to use there name with every command which we seem to do as humans. We covered training techniques all this took a while to explain which was fabulous to understand how a dog things. We used place boards which fit a large gsd on they are fabulous to teach sit, down, stand and a stay . Hayley got her dog out leah to do a demonstration of using a ball . She showed us the difference between a blackmail dog and a dog that drives the production of the reward Which I never knew . Her dog gives her focus at all times and is glued to her leg and wherever she moves the dog does it through motivation absolutely wonderful to see. I found the focus and engment techniques very useful. I think hayley is a dog whisper and dogs love her she's had dogs for 40 yrs and what she does say is a little bit of the old in with the new you have a well balanced happy dog. Love this place and I would most definitely say take your puppy or older dog here if you won't a well mannered dog with recall etc .
I can not praise Hayley and her staff enough I am on my 7th puppy training session and have one more to go. I then intend to do a 121 followed by some gun dog training. The care and thought that goes into the training shows from the moment you arrive. Puppies separated on week 1 so they are not overwhelmed.etc You are taught from the offset that you need high reward treats and to keep giving them for the correct response and whilst training is on going everything explained and why we are doing it in detail. 100% recommend I also use Hayley’s doggy daycare and again, my 7 month old pup has the time of his life and certainly sleeps when he gets home he’s had so much fun Again 100% recommended
I enrolled my puppy in this training class primarily because the cost seemed affordable. Upon arrival, we received a warm welcome, but it quickly became apparent that my puppy was uncomfortable and withdrawn around the staff — which was highly unusual for him. The session began with a lengthy 20-minute lecture from the trainer before any hands-on training took place. During this introduction, the trainer explicitly stated, “I do things the old-fashioned way, not the new namby-pamby treat-giving method,” a statement I found concerning and outdated. When practical training finally started, I was advised not to use the harness I had with my puppy, as it allegedly wouldn’t align with the trainer’s methods. Instead, I was told to purchase a choker-style lead — a device I consider archaic and unethical, and which I refused to use. The initial exercise involved having my puppy stay on a small podium roughly 30cm square, without calling him by name, as the trainer claimed that was “pointless.” My puppy, just a few months old, struggled to stay on the platform and repeatedly stepped off towards me. In response, the trainer pushed him off the podium with enough force to cause him to yelp in distress. After this, my puppy was visibly frightened and stayed close between my legs for the rest of the session. While this might be an isolated incident, I cannot risk subjecting my puppy — a cherished family member — to such outdated and harsh training methods. For anyone considering this school, I strongly urge you to think carefully about the potential impact on your pet’s wellbeing.
Love this place, for the school and the daycare, take fantastic care of my boy and hayley and the team are great, cant praise this place enough
