Nelly is an absolutely fantastic dog trainer. She has a great knowledge and understanding of the needs and struggles of our Vizsla puppy. Nelly thinks on the spot and adjusts to the situation really quickly. After addressing some of our initial challenges, she often changes up her plan for the session depending on the bits that Marvin is struggling at the time. Marvin still has its challanges, but we can definitely see a big improvement since we started training with Nelly. We're confident he'll become a great dog with Nelly's help and we can't recommend her enough
Had a few Agility lessons with Nikki and find her to be very knowledgeable and patient.
Our trainer Nelly was absolutely amazing, very knowledgeable and our puppy loved her. The advice she gave was targeted to our individual needs and we have started our training journey. We will be returning and highly recommend.
Nikki is a fantastic dog trainer and also organises additional guest training sessions. The recent training with Emma Pullen was fab picked up some very useful tips on trust building with my cocker spaniel Maverick!

We signed up to the 6 weeks 1-1 training with our dog shadow and wow what a fantastic experience. He went from being anxious, nervous around other dogs, over stimulated with other humans and very excited on the lead. He struggled to settle and struggled in day to day life. Flash forward 6 weeks with Lauren and he is a happy doggy who is more settled, has a much improved recall, is comfortable in new situations and all together less anxious. He has progressed so much in 6 weeks and we cant’t wait to continue his training. Lauren made learning with shadow so easy, personalising the training to his needs and adapting it to his reactions. We have loved the sessions and I know shadow has too. It has helped him become so much more relaxed and has learned some amazing new skills to help with life when it gets too loud. Thank you so much Lauren we are very excited to come to group classes now and continue to progress with our training 😊
Just completed a 6 week private package with focus dog training. Lauren has been amazing with my French bulldog silva and we have all learned so much! I did not think it would be possible to see a difference in her such as pulling on walks or reactive to other dogs but she has. We still have a way to go but all the tips and tricks will definitely help us keep building on enjoyable walks together. Thank you!
We’ve had a really good experience with Focus from the start. Both Rach and Lauren have been super flexible with us which has been great and very much appreciated! You can tell just how much they actually care about the dogs too. Lauren has been a fantastic trainer. We’ve gradually built upon foundational skills over time. After each session she provides feedback and some homework which is great. We’ve seen a HUGE improvement in Cooper’s lead walking, and his engagement with us on walks. We’ve learned what does and doesn’t work for Cooper, and my confidence with knowing how to deal with tricky situations on walks has definitely grown. I’ve gone from not wanting to walk him on my own through fear of him being reactive, to being able to walk him on lead in public spaces and getting him to engage with me. We use the techniques taught by Focus daily and we’re happy with Coopers progress so far. We’re hoping with consistency he continues in the right direction 😊
Lauren has been amazing. We went into this process a bit sceptical but we have learnt things we never could have done reading articles on the internet. We have a deeper understanding as Lauren is full of knowledge and is super efficient during her sessions. They were also really understanding and flexible as we had a few personal issues so had to change a few sessions. Maggie (our 9 month old Cavapoo) has really enjoyed the sessions, and when Lauren was here was the perfect dog! We will continue to put in the hard work as can see the potential and changes in Maggie already.
Wonderful trainers. Really good and helpful advice about dealing with my reactive terrier Jeff. Could not recommend them highly enough.

Sally is great at building confidence, not just mine, but also my dogs confidence has improved and his behaviour is now much calmer. Lots of tools to help manage different dog behaviour problems tailored to each dog. Sally makes you feel so comfortable even when you think your dog is the worst ever, I come away from her sessions feeling much more at ease and able to deal with my dogs issues. A really good dog trainer, I can highly recommend.
Sally has helped me with both my Spanish rescue dogs. My eldest had a recall issue and sally gave me the tools to help, and a valuable insight that I needed to make my walks 50/50 lead and off lead to create interaction and a bond out on walks other than him satisfying his hunting instinct. My youngest dog is quite nervy and skittish. With sallys help, we’ve walked Leeds city centre, travelled on a train & a very busy bus station. 100% recommend 🧡
We contacted Sally to help with one to one training of our staffy, as he was always very keen to pull on the lead and reactive to a selective number of dogs. Sally showed us ways to help in a constructive way, giving advice on changing from a harness to a lead and collar (which made a huge difference). She explains things from a dogs prospective, which makes sense to humans! This shows its mainly the human that needs the training! 😂 A variety of training sessions are available, next up for us is a group social walk and maybe a pub meet up. For anyone looking for help with their dog, I would thoroughly recommend Sally. Thanks Sally!
Had amazing results with our dog from one session - worked on anxious barking and behaviour when guests come to the home. Really happy and would (& have) recommended sally to friends.

I would definitely recommend Dawn. We have a Tibetan Terrier, who can be unpredictably reactive and we have worked with Dawn during the past few months. Dawn has given me lots of really useful strategies and has been unfailingly supportive and positive. Nessa is much improved and I now know what to do when she takes the odd backward step. There has been no pressure to book lots of sessions, but Dawn has always made herself available when needed. Thank you 🐶🐾
No longer in the doghouse has been fabulous in helping get our Sprollie Alora from lead walking nightmare to a happy pup walking off lead with great recall. no longer in the doghouse have been professional throughout spending lots of time observing and advising in the best ways to get Alora to walk nicely. Also great alternative courses for keeping your dog tired out with home activities when the weather's less than ideal for outdoor walks.
Would definitely recommend Dawn to anyone who needs to work through problems with their doggos. She is very calm and professional and follows the appointments up with advice which is helpful.
Excellent support and advice for both us and our puppy, can’t thank or recommend Dawn enough
Dawn was great really helped us get through a few tricky situations with our dog. Couldn't recommend her highly enough!

What can we say! If Bailey (our 7 month old Golden Doodle) could speak, I know he would express how much he loved the puppy training. Yes it was challenging at times when that leaf was blowing in the wind and the wonderful wet grass was just there to be rolled in! but it has to be said that we all took a lot away from it. Exceptional trainer (Nelly) who made everything simple (for us owners most certainly).
Nicky is a wonderful dog trainer highly recommended
We went to the agility classes, and it was so much fun! Our little dog loved it, it wore her out and gave her the opportunity to focus some of her energy. Lots of homework to do, and we hope to be back again soon
Nikki has been brilliant and so supportive in helping me train my 10 month old very boisterous puppy. We love coming to classes and would recommend her to anyone.
Our border collie Milo loves his puppy obedience class, basic agility lessons and Nikki! Nikki is knowledgeable, patient, professional and kind. She always has clear and easy-to-follow strategies and tips that as a first-time dog owner have been invaluable. She is great and I have already recommended her classes to other dog owners.
Finding qualified dog trainers in Headingley means connecting with professionals who understand the unique character of this vibrant Leeds suburb where student life meets family residential areas and expansive green spaces. From training energetic puppies near Beckett Park to managing reactive dogs along Meanwood Beck, our certified trainers deliver personalised obedience training, behaviour modification, and puppy socialisation programmes designed for Headingley's distinctive environment.
Serving all areas including Headingley village, Weetwood, West Park, and North Hyde Park, we've successfully trained over 1,800 dogs across the LS6 postcode area in the past eight years. Our expertise addresses local challenges from navigating busy Otley Road to enjoying off-lead exercise in Woodhouse Moor and Beckett Park.
Headingley presents unique training requirements shaped by its diverse population, mixture of housing types, and excellent park access. The area's bustling commercial district along Otley Road, combined with quieter residential streets, means dogs must adapt to varying stimulation levels throughout daily walks. Popular green spaces including Headingley Stadium surroundings, Beckett Park, and nearby Meanwood Valley Urban Farm provide ideal training environments but require solid recall and socialisation skills.
The suburb's large student population creates dynamic street activity, particularly around Hyde Park Corner and Headingley village centre, requiring dogs to remain calm amid crowds, takeaway food smells, and frequent movement. Our trainers specialise in preparing dogs for Headingley's specific challenges including match day crowds near Headingley Cricket Ground and Rugby Stadium, navigating shared pavements on Cardigan Road, and maintaining composure in dog-friendly pubs and cafés throughout the area. With predominantly terraced Victorian housing and conversion flats, many Headingley residents need dogs with excellent neighbour-friendly manners and adaptability to urban living with limited private garden space.
We provide comprehensive dog training services throughout Headingley and surrounding areas, covering the entire LS6 postcode district. Our trainers regularly work near key locations including St Michael's Church, Headingley Library, the Arndale Centre, and throughout residential streets between Otley Road and Queenswood Drive. We serve communities from Shaw Lane in the north to the border with Hyde Park, across neighbourhoods surrounding Weetwood Lane and throughout areas near Headingley Station. Whether you live in a converted flat on Brudenell Road or a family home near West Park, we bring professional training directly to you, with appointments typically available within 48 hours.
Our puppy programmes build crucial foundations during the 8-16 week socialisation period. We introduce young dogs to Headingley's urban environment including traffic on busy Otley Road, crowds outside Tesco and Sainsbury's, and diverse activities in local parks. Training covers house training for flats, crate training, bite inhibition, and essential commands, with controlled socialisation sessions in Beckett Park helping puppies develop confidence around other dogs, joggers, and cyclists.
Headingley's narrow terraced streets and popular walking routes often reveal reactivity challenges. Our programmes address leash reactivity, barrier frustration in ground-floor flats, and fear-based responses. Using positive reinforcement and desensitisation, we help dogs remain calm when encountering triggers on residential streets or busy footpaths near Beckett Park, progressively building tolerance and replacing reactive behaviours with focus and self-control.
For dogs progressing beyond basics, we develop reliable off-lead control for safely enjoying Woodhouse Moor and nearby Meanwood Park. Training includes distance commands, emergency stops, and advanced lead work suitable for navigating Headingley's busy shopping areas. We also specialise in urban manners essential for community living, teaching dogs appropriate behaviour in shared spaces, calm responses to neighbours, and composure in Headingley's numerous dog-friendly establishments.
Dog training in Headingley typically costs £45-70 per hour for private sessions, with 6-8 week packages ranging from £300-480. Group classes cost £15-25 per session, while puppy courses average £180-300. Many trainers offer free initial consultations.
Beckett Park offers excellent open space for recall training, while quieter residential streets around Weetwood provide ideal environments for lead walking practice. Woodhouse Moor is perfect for distraction training, and early morning sessions at Meanwood Valley offer controlled environments for reactive dogs.
