Olivia provides a great service, tips and advice for training young puppies (and their owners!) during their formative years. She showcases knowledge and expertise when it comes to dog training. Would recommend her services.

Our family took home our dog for the first time a few months ago. We really didn’t quite know what we were doing. Preparing ourselves by reading books and showing lots of love wasn’t quite all the ingredients required foe a successful introductions to dogs…. Olivia is calm, takes everything in her stride. Although an expert, very able to answer all questions and was even able to bring my 9 year old out her shell to ask very intelligent questions I may add. I think overall it is her demeanour that I would highly commend. It appears some dog trainers do tend to try and show who’s boss but with Olivia the outcome of training is the same but with complete and utter gentleness.

Olivia is a fantastic dog trainer! We have a rescue dog with very specific needs and she approached each issue sensitively and thoughtfully with our dog’s best interests at heart. She equipped us with an amazing set of skills to create a loving and respectful relationship with our pup. The entire experience has been hugely positive for both us and our dog who has connected with her in a very special way. Would highly recommend!

Professional Dog Trainers in Corstorphine: Expert Canine Training Services

Finding experienced dog trainers in Corstorphine connects you with professionals who understand the specific needs of this established Edinburgh suburb. From training puppies near Corstorphine Hill to managing reactive dogs along the Water of Leith walkways, our certified trainers deliver personalised obedience training, behaviour modification, and puppy socialisation programmes tailored to local conditions.

Serving all areas including Corstorphine village, Featherhall, Clermiston, and South Gyle, we've successfully trained over 1,800 dogs across the EH12 and surrounding postcodes. Our expertise addresses the unique challenges of dog ownership in this area, from navigating busy St John's Road to enjoying off-lead exercise in Corstorphine Hill Nature Reserve.

Why Choose Professional Dog Training in Corstorphine

Corstorphine presents distinct training requirements shaped by its mix of residential streets, excellent green spaces, and proximity to Edinburgh Zoo. The area's network of parks including Corstorphine Hill, Saughton Park, and Forrester High School playing fields provides excellent training environments, but also means dogs encounter numerous other canines daily, making proper socialisation essential.

Our trainers specialise in addressing local challenges including traffic desensitisation along busy Glasgow Road, adapting to the varied terrain of Corstorphine Hill's woodland paths, and managing distraction training near Edinburgh Zoo where exotic animal sounds can excite sensitive dogs. We understand local transport links including frequent bus services and tram connections at Edinburgh Gateway, ensuring your dog travels confidently throughout the city.

Dog Training Solutions for Corstorphine Residents

Puppy Foundation and Socialisation Programmes

Our puppy training focuses on the critical 8-16 week socialisation window, introducing young dogs to Corstorphine's environment including residential streets, park paths, and the unique sounds from nearby Edinburgh Zoo. Training covers house training, crate training, bite inhibition, and essential commands. Controlled socialisation sessions at locations like Ravelston Woods help puppies develop confidence around other dogs, children, and cyclists.

Reactive Dog and Behaviour Modification

Corstorphine's popular walking routes can reveal reactivity issues. Our programmes address leash reactivity on narrow paths, barrier frustration, and fear-based responses using positive reinforcement techniques. Training in controlled environments along the Water of Leith or quieter sections of Corstorphine Hill builds tolerance gradually, replacing problem behaviours with calm focus.

Advanced Recall and Off-Lead Training

For dogs progressing beyond basics, we develop reliable off-lead control essential for safely enjoying Corstorphine Hill's extensive woodland trails. Training incorporates distance commands, emergency stops, and advanced lead work, ensuring dogs respond reliably whether on quiet Clermiston paths or busier routes near Gyle Shopping Centre.
