Tom & Victoria have been absolutely amazing at helping us with our cavapoo puppy ‘Freddie’ since we got him. They gave us a detailed, personalised plan for Freddie after a very thorough assessment which has helped us greatly. The follow up videos from Tom have been invaluable and we will continue to refer back to these for a long time!! They are extremely knowledgeable, always at the end of the phone if you need any help/tips and deeply care about their clients/dogs. Thank you so much Uncle Tom and Victoria!!! Would recommend to anyone

I contacted Pooch on a Pedestal after our rescue puppy started to develop some challenging behaviours at home and outside. Victoria has been so helpful in helping us identify triggers and appropriate interventions and activities for Jimmy to help get him back on track. They have helped us manage doggy sibling relationships, socialisation, fear barking/reactivity, separation and more. I couldn’t be more pleased with the constant support we’ve had at all times and will continue to work with Pooch on a Pedestal moving forward.

We had a fantastic experience with Victoria and Tom! They were absolutely brilliant with our golden retriever—so patient, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. They provided us with a really detailed training plan and even sent over a video to help guide us at home, which made a huge difference. They were also incredibly friendly and easy to talk to, which put us (and our dog!) at ease right away. Thanks to their support, he’s doing so well with his training. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for expert, caring trainers!

Tom and Victoria are the Pooch on a Pedestal dream team! When we adopted our working cocker spaniel puppy we were at a loss as how to best train her and meet her insatiable energy levels! After an initial assessment and intense training sessions with Victoria, Sadie has been going on regular socialization walks with Tom and has recently graduated to ‘cocker club’ 😂 we are so grateful to Tom and Victoria for their expert knowledge and genuine affection for the dogs they work with. Their advice and support guided us through the early stages, helping us to understand Sadie and facilitating her smooth transition into our family. Thank you! 🐶🐾

We took our black Labrador puppy to Propups puppy classes. We not only thoroughly enjoyed the classes but felt they gave us the tools we need to raise Rosie correctly. It was also great to be able to get advice and support from the trainers during the class on other issues we were experiencing. We will be signing up for graduate classes to continue the learning!

Attending the practical puppy course. The course was informative and fun for both us and the pippy. Emma is really supportive and always happy to answer any questions or concerns. Would highly recommend for first time puppy owners who want a little head start on getting the basics cemented early.

Emma has been a life saver today. I found a stray dog and brought him home to try and track down the owners. After no joy on the Facebook groups or with the Council, I found Emma on a website for scanning microchips. She came to the house straight away and got on with helping. The pup was taken to the dogs home and registered as missing with the dog warden. Emma was comfortable with the dog, clearly knew what she was doing. I'd recommend her services to all! Thanks again.

These guys are great - Mabels has a particularly soft spot for Ben and has been loving going out with him once a week for a couple of years now - it’s great socialising for her (plus a bit of free training) Would highly recommend even if your dog gets other regular walks.. they also do really fun training events and one on one - thanks guys!

We have used Walk Wag Play for both training and walking since getting our rescue pup! They have been really helpful in supporting our understanding of our dogs reactivity and the 1to1 session was amazing. They are totally reliable and have our nervous dog walking with others which is so nice to see on the photos they share after each walk. 100% recommend and shout out to Edee for app your help 🤩.

WalkWagPlay trained and looked after my golden retriever Archie for the best part of 1 year - until we sadly had to move away from the area! Archie will definitely miss his weekly playgroup fun and pup-friends. I always felt he was in the best of hands with the team and couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Our dog (Big Mac) has been going on walks for a few weeks now, and I just wanted to say how happy we are with WWP so far, you guys have gone way past our expectations and done such an amazing job with Big Mac. On every occasion he’s come back from a walk he does not get up until it’s food time, which is how we know he’s had plenty of exercise/play. There have also been occasions where I would not have known he’s been through mud and puddles if it wasn’t for the pictures the guys send post walks. The team does a fabulous job making sure he’s nice and clean/dry when he’s back at home. We love seeing Big Mac’s updates and what he gets up to on the day. Thank you & the team for a great job.

I have a tendency to waffle so I’ll just say this…stop your search for a dog trainer because Kahla is the best! As long as you listen to what she tells you and apply it consistently, you will be surprised at what you and your dog can achieve. I saw an improvement with my dog’s behaviour after just one session and a couple of weeks of applying what we had learned. The courses are also fantastic as are Jenny & Gabby and I’ve always felt in safe hands with all of them. Can’t really say enough, thanks from me and my monkey Clarence :)

Juliana Jones ★★★★★

We had a really good 1st experience with Kahla regarding our 1 year old rescue Lurcher cross. Our dog is not aggressive but he gets overly excited. He becomes super focus and if other dogs is close he will whine, bark, bites his lead and do somersault. We have no luck getting his attention. Kahla gave us a really good exercise to do with him when going on walks. She was really knowledgeable and gave us tips specific to his breed. The session was so fun and she put everything into context for us.

Serving CF10, CF11, CF24, and surrounding postcodes, we've successfully trained over 2,800 dogs across Cardiff in the past eight years. Our expertise addresses urban challenges from navigating Queen Street's busy pedestrian zones to enjoying off-lead exercise in Bute Park and Roath Park.

Why Choose Dog Training in Cardiff City Centre

Cardiff City Centre presents distinct training requirements shaped by pedestrian zones, public transport, and bustling shopping districts. With thousands of daily commuters and tourists, proper socialisation and lead manners are essential.

Our trainers specialise in city-specific challenges including desensitisation to street performers in the Arcades, tolerance for match-day crowds near Principality Stadium, and reliable behaviour in mixed environments from Millennium Centre to Cardiff Bay waterfront. We understand local regulations including park rules at Bute Park and the requirements for dogs using Arriva Trains Wales services, ensuring practical, applicable training for daily city life.

Dog Training Solutions for Cardiff City Residents

Puppy Socialisation and Foundation Skills

Our puppy programmes focus on the critical 8-16 week period, introducing young dogs to Cardiff's urban soundscape including trams, buses, construction noise, and diverse crowds. Training covers flat-living house training, basic commands, and controlled socialisation in Cathays Park, building confidence around other dogs, cyclists, and street activity while preventing future behavioural issues.

Urban Manners and Public Access Training

We specialise in preparing dogs for Cardiff's dog-friendly culture, teaching them to settle in cafés around Mill Lane, walk calmly through pedestrianised areas like St Mary Street, and maintain composure during busy shopping trips. Dogs learn appropriate behaviour in public spaces, from ignoring street food to navigating crowds at Cardiff Market, making them welcome companions throughout the city centre.
