My partner and I have had the privilege of working with Laura to help us understand how our puppy is feeling and reducing her day to day anxious triggers. Currently we are working on stopping her from barking at the doorbell and being less nervous of new people! Laura has fantastic insight and techniques to help with lots of different behaviours and after just a couple of sessions we are looking forward to learning more!
We had the pleasure of working with Laura recently as she was helping us with a very nervous German shepherd, Laura really helped us understand our dog and what she needed and honestly really educated us in dog behaviour. Laura's advice was honest and direct, she will not always tell you what you want to hear but she will tell you what you need to hear and we thank her for that. Definitely recommend
Laura is an amazing canine advocate. My dog adores her and always enjoys his sessions. I can not recommend her highly enough.
We were so lucky to have Laura recommended to us. Within minutes of meeting her, I knew we - as well as our dog - were in safe and exceedingly competent hands. It’s early days for us, but already we’ve made huge progress with our extremely anxious pooch and are reaping the rewards. Laura is teaching us all a lot, and that’s giving us all confidence, and we’re developing an even deeper bond with our dog in the process. Not just that, Laura is a lot of fun, and we look forward to our sessions with her. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Laura to any dog - or owner - who needs her.
Laura is a rare find. She knows how to achieve results and doesn't take short cuts for quick fixes that you may experience elsewhere. She's in it to help for longterm results and positive experiences for both the dog and the owner. With the most genuine approach and interpersonal skills, she communicates with kindness and compassion and has a love for dogs and all animals that is rarely seen.

Tamzin is a fantastic trainer – enthusiastic, motivating, and full of positive energy. She gives clear, practical guidance that really works, and it's obvious how much she loves the dogs she works with. Every session is thoughtfully planned, with all the equipment you could need, whether we were indoors or out. What I appreciated most was how Tamzin took the time in every class to ask individually about my puppy’s specific needs and challenges. That personal attention made such a difference and helped her make real progress. She also follows up every class with an email full of extra resources, often tailored to what we discussed in class – which has been so helpful in reinforcing what we’ve learned. Highly recommend her classes to anyone looking for supportive and effective training!
Brought our very energetic and live wire cocker spaniel to Tamsins classes, we’ve learnt a lot of calming techniques and ways to deal with tricky behaviour , lessons were informative. Everything is emailed weekly too. Recommended these classes
I can't recommend these classes highly enough! Tamzin is fantastic, approachable and incredibly knowledgeable. We were struggling with our puppy, who was very anxious around people and hesitant to go for walks. With a lot of patience and experimenting with various techniques, he is now a happy, confident dog who loves his outdoor adventures. These classes have taught us so much not just how to train our dog, but also how to understand his behaviors and triggers, which has helped us support him even better. Tamzin has always been available for us whenever we needed assistance, providing us with different strategies to tackle any issues. Coming to these classes was truly the best decision we could have made for our puppy and I’m endlessly thankful for the positive change Tamzin has brought to his life. Thank you ☺️
Absolutely loved it my dog really has improved and she remembers the dogs name which is nice. We missed couple lessons and she sends notes after each lesson to keep up. Would Definitely recommend this training well worth the money. Thanks Tazmin
Tamzin has been a godsend in helping us deal with a serious case of sibling rivalry. The younger dog developed a tendency to be reactive and being a large dog, it was a real worry. Working one to one, Tamzin taught me to read body language and gave me strategies to manage the problem with distraction techniques and calming activities. Chester is now a different dog and daily dog walks are now a pleasure rather than a stress filled chore. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I've only had one session with Lou so far but things are already improving with my puppy Bolt. The tips and guidance is already paying off and less than a week in I'm seeing positive changes. Highly recommend if you are looking for kind hearted people to help you learn how to train your fur baby.
My lab/cocker cross pup April and I attended the puppy training. I found it beneficial in cementing training and also socialising her in a safe environment. We have now signed up to the foundation sessions.
Lauren has been amazing during the 4 sessions we've had together so far. She's given me more confidence and valuable guidance on how to work with our 4 year old Springador on his reactiveness whilst out on walks. Thank you for everything, I can highly recommend.
Lauren has been amazing with our goldendoodle Bruce. Over the past 6 sessions he has got so much more confident in himself and less reactive. Lauren really takes the time to get to understand each dog and what works for them. I cannot recommend Spirited Dog training highly enough!

Thanington's character as a peaceful residential area with strong community ties creates specific training needs. Dogs here must navigate quiet residential streets, interact politely with neighbours in close-knit communities, and behave impeccably when venturing into nearby Canterbury city centre with its pedestrianised zones, shops, and tourist attractions around Canterbury Cathedral.
The proximity to countryside walks along the Stour Valley and the Great Stour Way means reliable recall training is essential for safe off-lead exercise. Our trainers specialise in creating dogs comfortable in varied environments, from quiet Thanington lanes to the bustle of Canterbury's historic streets, ensuring your companion adapts confidently to every situation you encounter together.
Our puppy programmes focus on early socialisation during the critical 8-16 week period, introducing young dogs to Thanington's environment including residential streets, local green spaces, and gradually progressing to busier Canterbury areas. Training covers house training, crate training, basic commands, and developing confidence around people, dogs, and everyday situations, establishing foundations for lifelong good behaviour.
We address common behavioural challenges including leash reactivity, fear-based responses, and aggression through positive reinforcement techniques. Our systematic approach helps dogs learn calm responses to triggers they encounter on local walks, building tolerance and replacing unwanted behaviours with appropriate alternatives that make walks enjoyable for both dogs and owners.
Advanced training develops reliable recall essential for enjoying Thanington's access to countryside walks and riverside paths. We build solid off-lead control despite distractions including wildlife, other dogs, and interesting scents, ensuring your dog responds reliably in varied environments while maintaining the freedom to exercise properly in open spaces.
Dog training in Thanington typically costs £45-70 per hour for private sessions, with package deals offering better value at £300-450 for comprehensive programmes.
