I left my pets in the very reliable care of Marlene from Furry Walks. When Marlene first come round to visit them it was claer she had a very natural way with animals and my dogs took to her straight away. Marlene made regular visits and exercised and played with them, she sent regular photos which were so reassuring to recieve and I returned to happy, well cared for pets. Would highly recommend Furry Walks and I will definatley be using again.
We had the pleasure of using Furry Walks while we were away on holiday, and Marlene was amazing! She did daily home visits to take care of our dog, and we couldn’t have asked for anyone better. She was reliable, caring, and made sure Nina was happy, comfortable, and well looked after while we were gone. Marlene sent us regular updates and photos, which gave us such peace of mind knowing everything was in good hands. It’s clear she genuinely loves animals and treats them like family. Coming home to a relaxed, happy dog said it all. We would recommend Marlene and Furry Walks to anyone looking for trustworthy, loving pet care.

Richie has been AMAZING with my dogs. I adopted a dog from the dogs trust who had trouble with recall and I no longer have to worry about it. And it doesn’t stop there, the work he does to rescue and rehome dogs in his spare time is something that needs to be recognised. Will ALWAYS HIGHLY recommend. Xx
I am so grateful to Richard at Emerald tails who has been working with my 2 dogs. I’ve been with other trainers but working with Richard has yielded the quickest results, especially in lead walking my very social/bouncy Labrador puppy. As the photo shows they know when he is due to call and can’t wait for his arrival. Richard has an amazing way with dogs and can’t recommend him highly enough. Very professional and down to earth.
He Really cares about animals and gives a great insight to training, amazing how quick the wee doggy took to it. Very professional yet extremely friendly. I would highly recommend this
Finding skilled dog trainers in Tandragee means connecting with professionals who understand the unique character of this historic County Armagh market town. From training puppies in homes near Tandragee Castle to working with reactive dogs along the Cusher River walks, our certified trainers deliver personalised obedience training, behaviour modification, and puppy socialisation programmes tailored to rural and small-town living.
Serving Tandragee and surrounding areas including Markethill, Richhill, Scarva, and Clare, we've successfully trained over 850 dogs across the region in the past eight years. Our expertise addresses the specific needs of dog ownership in this close-knit community, from navigating Market Street to enjoying countryside walks and managing livestock awareness.
Tandragee presents unique training requirements shaped by its blend of small-town community living and access to rural farmland. Dogs here must be equally comfortable walking through the town centre past the imposing Tandragee Castle as they are encountering sheep, cattle, and wildlife on surrounding country lanes and fields. Our trainers specialise in developing well-rounded dogs suited to this environment, including livestock awareness training crucial for rural County Armagh.
The town's tight-knit community means dogs frequently encounter the same neighbours, other dogs, and familiar faces, making consistent good manners and friendly socialisation essential. We understand local considerations including seasonal farming activities, country show preparations, and the importance of reliable recall in areas where dogs may encounter farm animals. Whether your walks take you along the Newry Canal towpath or through residential streets, we ensure your dog responds appropriately to every situation.
Our puppy programmes focus on the critical 8-16 week period, introducing young dogs to both town and country environments. Training covers essential commands, house training, and controlled exposure to various scenarios including farm machinery sounds, livestock at safe distances, and the social atmosphere of Tandragee's community. We help puppies develop into confident, well-adjusted dogs comfortable in all local settings.
Given Tandragee's rural setting, we specialise in teaching dogs reliable recall and appropriate behaviour around livestock. This training proves essential for safe countryside walks and prevents dangerous chasing incidents. Dogs learn to focus on handlers despite the presence of sheep, cattle, or horses, ensuring they can enjoy off-lead exercise while respecting local farming communities and wildlife.
Our behaviour programmes address issues including leash reactivity on quieter streets, nervousness around traffic or unfamiliar people, and anxiety in dogs adjusting to small-town life. Using positive reinforcement methods, we help dogs develop calm responses and confidence, whether encountering other dogs near the Square or walking past busy local businesses on Market Street.
Dog training in Tandragee typically costs £35-60 per hour for private sessions, with package deals of £200-400 for comprehensive 6-8 week programmes. Group classes range from £10-18 per session, offering excellent value for basic obedience and socialisation. Mobile services throughout Tandragee and surrounding villages mean trainers come to your home at no extra charge within the local area.
With farmland surrounding Tandragee and livestock grazing in nearby fields, dogs must learn not to chase or disturb animals. This training prevents dangerous incidents, protects livestock, respects farming communities, and ensures your dog can safely enjoy countryside walks. It's both a legal responsibility and essential community consideration in rural County Armagh, where agricultural activity remains central to local life.
Begin training immediately when bringing your puppy home around 8 weeks old. The critical socialisation period between 8-16 weeks is vital for exposure to Tandragee's environment including town sounds, farm machinery, livestock at safe distances, and various people. Puppies can join group classes after initial vaccinations at approximately 10-12 weeks, though dogs of any age benefit from professional training.
Professional dog training in Tandragee creates well-mannered companions suited to both town and country living. Our proven methods combine modern training techniques with understanding of rural County Armagh's unique requirements, developing confident dogs who respect livestock, respond reliably to commands, and integrate seamlessly into community life. Contact us today to schedule your consultation and start building the perfect partnership with your dog in Tandragee.
