Great place for the price my dog absolutely loved it their she was knackered after 20 mins of being their always water available for the dogs and bins for dog mess very clean and well kept place i will be booking on each week for my dog ideal place for dogs with no recall like mine to work on it and allow them time off the lead to stretch their legs without having to be constantly on the look out for other dogs to take your dogs attention away
Beautiful fields, the boundaries between the different fields are well maintained. A good touch to put a visual barrier between the friends too, kept my dogs focussed on their own business. One of the best enclosed fields I've been to. Clean and tidy areas.
Brilliant secure place to let your dogs enjoy themselves. Our Jack Russell, Walter loved it! He's not good around other dogs but loves chasing his ball so this is perfect for him. Easy to book and helpful instructions on the day by text. Plenty of parking too - will definitely be back!

We joined Cris' intro puppy class which was incredibly helpful to learn the skills needed to be a successful dog owner. Each class is a focused session learning fundamental skills that you can take home and practice with your puppy. Classes are limited to small numbers, allowing your puppy to adjust to the presence of other dogs without over excitement. The lessons were so valuable we signed up to the follow on course. Recommend to anyone that wants to learn fundamental dog skills and increase their confidence as a dog owner.
Started with our Australian Shepard puppy this summer. The courses were really well structured to teach him the basics and also to help us learn how to train which was incredibly valuable. Great sessions with a small group for a nice calm environment. Would definitely recommend to anyone new to dog training like ourselves.
Cris has helped me and my partner with our two white swiss shepherds after struggling with walking the both of them as well at attending puppy classes with them individually. The attention to detail is amazing and the support you receive is personalised to your needs. Thanyou so much Cris from us all especially Ozzy and Luna! 🐾
Rosie had a bad experience with a bull terrier and went from a happy friendly dog to a nervous anxious dog. Rosie would react to every dog we came across, also anxious with people she didn't know. Her tail would be tucked in and she'd be cowering behind me. Contacted Cris who came to both Rosie and my rescue. Not only did she help train Rosie but she helped train me and taught us both so much. With only 4 lessons we went from having anxious walks to happy walks where Rosie wouldn't react to other dogs her tail was up and she was back to her happy confident self. Our lives are so much better, I can't thank and recommend Cris enough the way she talks and explains things and situations was superb. Thank you
Cris is a superb trainer and I wholeheartedly recommend her classes and 121 support. I have a 15 month old lab and have been working with Cris for the last year. It’s not my first experience of dog training and all trainers are not the same. My top tip is to do your homework and really look for the right person to work with you. Cris is friendly, knowledgable and has excellent professional qualifications. She focuses on building the confidence of both dogs and their handlers. She has a wealth of experience to draw on and classes are so much fun. Our lab cannot wait to get into the hall and give Cris (in)appropriate levels of licks and wags. Not every dog owner wants to have competitive obedience levels for their mutts but Cris understands that and I do believe every one of us should see the levels of joy and bond that even the simplest training can bring our mutts. Learning what your dog loves and finds challenging and how you can support them is so rewarding. Cris is a very safe pair of hands and you can trust her to help you and your beloved pooch have a safe and fun-filled life together.

Had a few sessions with both of our dogs and they were great! Done the beginner classes and a 1-1 home visit. We learnt ALOT and are continuously using the skills taught. Excellent experience
Liz is amazing; she is very clear in her teaching in class and so supportive helping to iron out where I've been going wrong, in a lovely way. The training programme that you access on line to support all that Liz has taught in class is excellent, the videos are a great reminder. These classes have been worth every penny and I highly recommend anyone who is getting or has already got a pet gun dog to book asap, it will save you and your dog a lot of frustration.
Liz is a really knowledgeable, compassionate trainer. We approached her for help with our 6 yr old rescue cocker spaniel! She helped us sort out his diet and sleep and then explained how the big emotions he was feeling were influencing his behaviour. Through training games we learned how to create a calmer environment so he found it easier to manage. Not only did we end up with a spaniel with the behaviours we wanted but the training gave us a really connected fun relationship with him. I can't recommend Liz highly enough for working breed parents!
I have just completed the Pet Gundog lifeskills and obedience course with my young springer spaniel, Izzy and thoroughly enjoyed it. I rehomed Izzy when she was 11 months old and life has been a whirlwind since then. She was obsessed with birds, she pulled on the lead, had no real recall to speak of and was perfectly happy to ignore me on walks in favour of running through undergrowth in search of anything she could chase. I signed up to Liz's course in a bid to further the training we'd already begun and it was one of the best decisions I've made. We now have a solid recall, including recalling away from birds and the neighbour's cats and our walks look so much different to how they used to. The games and skills that are geared towards gun dogs have been massively helpful in transforming our walks and I would recommend the class to anyone who has a whizzy, busy spaniel. The support from Liz both in and outside of classes is fantastic and she's able to tweak exercises to suit individual dogs where needed. The next part of our training journey is hopefully going to include some 1-2-1's with Liz to continue to build on the skills we've developed during the course.
We took our 14 month old bonkers lab to Liz and she has transformed him into a much more compliant, trainable and fun dog. Her understanding of the gun dog breeds and how they think and respond to direction and instruction is amazing. We've had such a great experience so far we're booking up for my time with Liz to develop his training and skills further. Something we never thought we'd ever get to! It's money and time well spent We can't recommend Liz highly enough.

Can’t recommend Vicky enough , I have attended the puppy classes with 2 of my dogs over the last 12 years and it has given them the best start . We are looking forward to starting the follow on course with Ruger in the next few weeks to build on the things we have learned.
Excellent company. Extremely professional and very reasonable prices. Would wholly recommend it to anyone looking for dog advice.
We were so close to returning our puppy because of him biting our daughter so much. We booked a home visit consultation and the 6 week puppy starter class and because of Vicky's help we managed to curb some of the more worrying behaviour. Vicky gives guidance and advice in a way that makes sense and helped us understand our puppy's behaviour, then what we can do to curb and manage this. She doesn't claim to have a magic wand or a quick fix, but if one thing doesn't work she will suggest something else, such as changing the reward or changing the command given. In class we found Vicky to be patient, recognising the different temperament of each dog there and their nature (because of their breed). When trying different commands and techniques she demonstrated first and encouraged us to persist, but acknowledged that it is hard work training a puppy. The lay out of the class was helpful and she recognised what dogs got on well and what dogs to keep well apart. Our pup loves Vicky (the treat lady!) and always loved going to class. Thanks to Vickys help our little one really is a good dog (well, most of the time!). Thank you, Vicky, for giving us the tips needed to make our home a happier home, giving us the confidence needed to continue training at home and helping us learn how to curb behaviour that could have led to something serious happening if things continued the way they were. And a big thank you for being there in between classes too, answering WhatsApp questions and emails.
Firstly, it is so important to know that Vicky is one of the few fully qualified and appropriately accredited dog trainers in the area so you know that you're getting someone who actually knows what they're doing. Vicky was excellent with us and gave us the skills and confidence to get our puppy through her classes. She's come so far by just learning the basics and we hope to continue to the next steps because our dog loved coming so much.
Absolutely loved the little learners course it was great fun and we learned so much that we are already benefiting from both at home and out and about. The group was just the right size and all the puppies got equal amounts of attention. Vicky was professional and informative and made the impossible look easy at times. She was also happy to pick up questions outside of the class. I couldnt recommend Have a Good Dog highly enough.

We had the pleasure of meeting lee today and what a difference in just one session! I've taken my dog for a walk this evening using the tips and techniques he shown me and what a difference it has made. My dog is now listening to me even when dogs are present which i didnt think was possible. Highly recommend! Thank you!!
A very infomative session. Lots of lessons learned and appreciated. As Lee says its the humans that need training . We know that if we need any further support Lee is there to lead us in the right direction
I am delighted with the results I got from Lee helping me with Jax. I knew it was my fault I was making Jax reactive, however stopping was difficult, if your nervous your dog knows! The ability Lee has with dogs is second to none, his ability with people is fantastic! I have been on more of a journey than Jax if I am honest. I cannot recommed Lee enough I really can't, he made it seem like magic, I can't believe what we achieved. Thank you so much Lee from us all esp. Jax
Understood our needs immediately and observed our puppy’s behaviour excellently to give us a bespoke training plan. Couldn’t have been happier with the professionalism and comfort in knowing that the training we will now provide will help our puppy develop the right way.
He was very friendly and gave very good advice, advised we can get in touch anytime if we need any further help. Also sent more information to help via wasap.
Finding skilled dog trainers in Roker means connecting with professionals who understand the unique challenges of seaside dog ownership in this historic Sunderland coastal community. From training puppies to navigate the busy Roker Beach promenade to managing reactive dogs along the scenic Marine Walk, our certified trainers deliver personalised obedience training, behaviour modification, and socialisation programmes tailored to coastal living.
Serving Roker Park, the seafront areas, and surrounding neighbourhoods including Fulwell and Seaburn, we've successfully trained over 850 dogs in the area. Our expertise addresses local challenges from beach recall training to managing dogs around the popular Roker Pier and lighthouse.
Roker presents distinctive training opportunities shaped by its coastal location and strong community atmosphere. The famous Roker Beach provides excellent training environments, but the distractions of seagulls, other dogs, and beachgoers require solid obedience foundations. Dogs need reliable recall around Roker Park's Victorian gardens and excellent lead manners along the busy seafront during summer months.
Our trainers specialise in coastal-specific challenges including desensitising dogs to wave sounds, managing excitement around beach activities, and building confidence on sand and pebble surfaces. We understand the local environment from the peaceful morning walks along Marine Walk to the bustling weekend atmosphere at Roker Beach. With many residents living in terraced properties near the seafront, we focus on creating well-mannered dogs suited to close community living.
Our puppy programmes build essential foundations during the critical 8-16 week period, introducing young dogs to Roker's coastal environment including beach sounds, seagulls, and the unique textures of sand and shingle. Training covers house training, basic commands, and controlled socialisation in Roker Park, ensuring puppies grow into confident, beach-ready companions.
Essential for enjoying Roker's beaches and parks safely, our recall training builds reliable responses despite distractions like seabirds, other dogs, and interesting smells along the shoreline. We train in real-world locations including Roker Beach during permitted times and throughout Roker Park's open spaces, ensuring your dog returns immediately when called even in exciting coastal environments.
Dog training in Roker typically ranges from £35-65 per hour for private sessions, with 6-week group classes costing £120-220. Many trainers offer free initial consultations and mobile services throughout the SR6 area, bringing professional training directly to your home near the seafront or Roker Park.
Roker Beach has seasonal restrictions with dogs allowed year-round on certain sections and restricted during summer months on designated areas. Our trainers know which beach sections permit dogs and the best times for training, ensuring compliance with Sunderland City Council regulations while maximising training opportunities along the coast.
Begin training immediately at 8 weeks old to capitalise on the crucial socialisation window. Early exposure to Roker's coastal environment, including beach sounds and busy promenade activity, develops confident dogs perfectly adapted to seaside living. Puppies can join group classes after initial vaccinations at 10-12 weeks.
Professional dog training in Roker creates well-behaved companions perfectly suited to coastal community living. Our proven methods combine expertise with intimate knowledge of Roker's unique environment, from beach protocols to park etiquette. Whether you live near the iconic Roker Pier or in residential streets behind the seafront, expert training ensures your dog becomes a confident, reliable companion ready for every seaside adventure.
