Milan has an incredible amount of knowledge and clearly understands the psychology of dogs better than anybody else we have spoken to. His approach is direct and clear, which made training Reggie our anxious miniature Dachshund simple, and made him much more confident and relaxed. We also felt that Milan really took the time to understand Reggie, not just reacting to his behaviour in the moment, but taking the time to understand his personality and desires - and communicating that to us clearly and consistently.
We are the very happy owners of Crispin. As lovely as Crispin is, he is reactive and prone to barking at other dogs and can strain on the lead to get them. Not knowing anything about Crispin’s background, his behaviour left us struggling with how to best manage him. Enter Milan and Konner. Thanks to them and their knowledge and support, we’ve already seen improvements in Crispin and now have a much better understanding of him, but more than that, we feel we’ve been trained as well! After our eye-opening in-person sessions, we know what Crispin is capable of. There’s light at the end of the tunnel! Now, it’s a case of managing Crispin’s environment and following the techniques Milan and Konner have shared to change Crispin’s behaviour for the better. Thank you guys!
We've recently completed the 30 day training programme with Milan and it's an understatement to say it's been a game-changer for us and our dog, Max. We've had Max for 4 years now, rescued from Greece via a fab charity (Healing Paws), and while he's very happy, settled, and loving with us and close family, he's always been very nervous when out in public with lots of people, around strangers, and just in unfamiliar situations. We went to Milan hoping to make Max more comfortable on walks, less reactive to unfamiliar places/people, and less of a guard dog in the house (very reactive to people coming in, the doorbell, etc). Milan's guidance has helped us achieve exactly that. In our first call, we broke down the problems, and Milan advised techniques we should do to make Max more comfortable and get the engagement with him that we were missing on walks. We sent daily updates via WhatsApp, which Milan always responded to, and amended our approach as needed as per his guidance. The three face to face sessions were extremely helpful too - Milan explained Max's behaviour, what we were doing right/wrong, and always had ways of breaking down exercises further for Max to build up to the longer-term goal. We couldn't recommend Milan and Konner at Smart Dogs highly enough - it's been the best thing we've done for Max, we can see huge progress, 100% a worthwhile investment. Before we spoke to Milan, we were concerened Max had too many issues that were the result of being a rescue dog and that there was just no way around them. We were completely wrong - Milan's understanding of dogs, ability to explain the reason beind behaviours and how to approach them is second to none. If you're thinking about giving this a go, go for it!
Great service. Teddy make good progress and loved Konnor 🐶
We cannot recommend Milan enough! Throughout our training journey, Milan has been excellent at breaking down training concepts and getting us to fully understand how and why we are training different behaviours. He has been incredibly patient and knows the solution to every issue we have come across with our dog Bonnie - you're a dog genius! Milan genuinely cares about dogs and has continued to check in with Bonnie even after we have finished our training sessions with him. Milan has taken us from being first time dog owners (with a newborn baby), who were struggling with a reactive, anxious dog to being confident dog owners who now have an amazing family dog. Thank you so much!

We joined Cris' intro puppy class which was incredibly helpful to learn the skills needed to be a successful dog owner. Each class is a focused session learning fundamental skills that you can take home and practice with your puppy. Classes are limited to small numbers, allowing your puppy to adjust to the presence of other dogs without over excitement. The lessons were so valuable we signed up to the follow on course. Recommend to anyone that wants to learn fundamental dog skills and increase their confidence as a dog owner.
Started with our Australian Shepard puppy this summer. The courses were really well structured to teach him the basics and also to help us learn how to train which was incredibly valuable. Great sessions with a small group for a nice calm environment. Would definitely recommend to anyone new to dog training like ourselves.
Cris has helped me and my partner with our two white swiss shepherds after struggling with walking the both of them as well at attending puppy classes with them individually. The attention to detail is amazing and the support you receive is personalised to your needs. Thanyou so much Cris from us all especially Ozzy and Luna! 🐾
Rosie had a bad experience with a bull terrier and went from a happy friendly dog to a nervous anxious dog. Rosie would react to every dog we came across, also anxious with people she didn't know. Her tail would be tucked in and she'd be cowering behind me. Contacted Cris who came to both Rosie and my rescue. Not only did she help train Rosie but she helped train me and taught us both so much. With only 4 lessons we went from having anxious walks to happy walks where Rosie wouldn't react to other dogs her tail was up and she was back to her happy confident self. Our lives are so much better, I can't thank and recommend Cris enough the way she talks and explains things and situations was superb. Thank you
Cris is a superb trainer and I wholeheartedly recommend her classes and 121 support. I have a 15 month old lab and have been working with Cris for the last year. It’s not my first experience of dog training and all trainers are not the same. My top tip is to do your homework and really look for the right person to work with you. Cris is friendly, knowledgable and has excellent professional qualifications. She focuses on building the confidence of both dogs and their handlers. She has a wealth of experience to draw on and classes are so much fun. Our lab cannot wait to get into the hall and give Cris (in)appropriate levels of licks and wags. Not every dog owner wants to have competitive obedience levels for their mutts but Cris understands that and I do believe every one of us should see the levels of joy and bond that even the simplest training can bring our mutts. Learning what your dog loves and finds challenging and how you can support them is so rewarding. Cris is a very safe pair of hands and you can trust her to help you and your beloved pooch have a safe and fun-filled life together.

Karen is a fabulous trainer .She is so patient. Our GSD puppy is so much better, calmer in the house with the training tips and practice.I fully recommend her if you need help with your dog or puppy.
Amazing trainer! We have a four-month old Tamaskan who loves to investigate everything and can get very excitable. We were at a loss on how to get him to pay attention to us! In just one week with Karen, we saw such an improvement. Karen is calm, patient, understanding, and hugely knowledgeable. Any issue, she's got the solution. Her recommended products have been top tier too. Thor actively loves heading to the centre for his training, and he loves trotting after Karen for treats and cues! It's not just good for the dog either; Karen has instilled such a positive mindset in us, Thor's owners. Now, instead of being stressed to high heaven wondering what we can do, we have a much calmer house, calmer walks, and a more hopeful outlook that any challenges can be overcome with the right training and consistency. Definitely a brilliant investment for you and your dog. We can't wait for our next session!
Me and my partner decided to book our 6 month old Shih tzu Luna in for some classes, as we were having some problems with her play biting, settling and recall. Karen was absolutely amazing and really helped us understand our dog and what works for her. She wasn’t judgemental at all and helped support us through the training when we made mistakes. Luna is so much calmer now and is learning very fast. We feel confident that with the resources Karen gave us, she will grow into a perfect companion for us. Thank you so much!
We started working with Karen before we got our puppy, which resulted in a good start to Rocky’s life with us. At an early age Rocky was bitten by another dog and we feared how this would impact on him. I’m confident that it was Karen’s advice and guidance that has helped him to be friendly and confident with dogs, despite the bad start. Karen is a great listener who is honest, kind and very knowledgeable. She provides reading and things to watch to help you on your journey, and is very supportive. I highly recommend her as I work as a Psychologist, and her ethos and theories complimented what I know from my own work. Thank you Karen.
Having had a bad experience with another dog trainer, We contacted Blue Dog service in October this year. We spoke with Karen, arranged the training and we have never looked back. We had reached the end of our tether with our dog and just could not see the way forward, Karen changed all that for us. She is so calm, considerate and kind. Everything she said made sense. Not only do we get one to one training with her she also supplies videos and books for us to keep abreast of the whole process and is always available to offer additional support if need be. Our dog has come on “leaps and bounds” and we now appreciate him so much more, thanks to Karen.

Worth every penny. Not only do you get to understand your dog and what it is trying to tell you, you also have fun doing it. We really enjoyed our Friday morning classes and will miss going each week….well worth the drive down from Coldstream. Will definitely been joining the Good Companion Classes. Gary Rachael and not forgetting Ernie
We’ve had an incredible experience with Nathan and Louisa while training our GWP, Bonnie. Their emotional intelligence with both dogs and humans is exceptional, and their deep understanding of canine behaviour—both in theory and practice—sets them apart. The weekly one-to-one sessions with Nathan and the group classes with Lou have truly transformed Bonnie. Without their guidance, she would be a very different dog. It helps that they are both lovely people to spend time with, too! We couldn’t recommend them more highly!
The dog log has been completely life changing for me! I started puppy classes with my 11 week old retriever puppy Marley last year and it was the best thing I ever did! We have gone on to do our APDT good companion awards and have learnt so much in the process. Nathan and Louisa are so patient and will always find ways to adjust their teaching for whatever you need! I especially love the way they help me understand why my dog is doing a specific behaviour, which has really helped me understand my dog better and therefore been amazing for our relationship. Adolescence has been (very) hard for me but Nathan and Louisa have been there every step of the way for me, and continue to be, which I will be forever grateful for. Furthermore, I informed Nathan and Louisa I wanted to learn more about dog training and without missing a beat they offered me a place to shadow them so I could learn more about ethical dog training and directed me to resources that I’d need to further my knowledge. Words cannot fully describe how much I recommend the dog log! If you are looking for kind and knowledgable dog trainers look no further :)
Ziggy, our labradoodle, enjoyed and learned so much at The Dog Log's Puppy training classes, that we also signed up for the Good Companion course too. We all look forward to the classes and we really have seen the benefits with Ziggy. Nathan and Louisa have a natural affinity with dogs, making the whole experience enjoyable, but more importantly, worthwhile. We were recommended to use the Dog Log and now, we too happily recommend them to others, looking to get the best from their pets.
Absolutely fantastic service and really happy that I used Nathan to train Kobe. So much knowledge and insight and I now have very well behaved puppy. We started with one on one classes but are already looking onto the socialisation classes. Fantastic help and support Thanks Nathan and Lou

Finding qualified dog trainers in Ponteland means connecting with professionals who understand the unique characteristics of this affluent Northumberland village and its surrounding countryside. From training puppies in homes near Ponteland Park to managing reactive dogs along the riverside paths by the River Pont, our certified trainers deliver personalised obedience training, behaviour modification, and puppy socialisation programmes tailored to rural and suburban living.
Serving Ponteland village centre, Darras Hall, Kirkley, and surrounding areas, we've successfully trained over 850 dogs across the community in the past eight years. Our expertise addresses the specific needs of dog ownership in this picturesque area, from navigating Ponteland High Street to enjoying off-lead exercise at Ponteland Memorial Playing Fields.
Ponteland presents distinct training opportunities shaped by its blend of village atmosphere, quality housing estates like Darras Hall, and access to Northumberland's beautiful countryside. The area's numerous footpaths, bridleways, and proximity to locations like Prestwick Carr nature reserve provide excellent training environments but require dogs with reliable recall, livestock awareness, and confidence around horses and wildlife.
Many Ponteland residents own larger breeds and working dogs that need structured training for both physical exercise and mental stimulation. Our trainers specialise in preparing dogs for countryside walks, teaching appropriate responses to livestock, and building confidence around the horses commonly seen on local bridleways. We understand the community's expectations for well-mannered dogs in public spaces including the village centre shops, local cafés, and during popular events at Ponteland Leisure Centre.
Our puppy programmes establish crucial foundations during the 8-16 week socialisation period. We introduce young dogs to Ponteland's environment including village traffic, countryside sounds, livestock at distance, and the varied terrain found throughout local walks. Training covers house training for family homes, crate training, recall basics, and lead walking suitable for both pavements and country paths.
We specialise in developing reliable recall essential for safely enjoying Ponteland's countryside access. Training teaches dogs to respond immediately despite distractions including rabbits, deer, and ground-nesting birds. Crucially, we include livestock awareness training, teaching appropriate calm behaviour around sheep, cattle, and horses encountered on public footpaths and bridleways throughout the area.
Our behaviour modification programmes address reactivity issues that can emerge during village walks or countryside encounters. Using positive reinforcement, we help dogs learn calm responses to other dogs, cyclists, and horses, replacing reactive behaviours with focus and self-control suitable for Ponteland's community-oriented environment.
Dog training in Ponteland typically ranges from £45-80 per hour for private sessions, with 6-week packages averaging £320-550. Group classes cost £15-25 per session, reflecting the area's premium service standards while remaining competitive with Newcastle prices.
Yes, countryside training is one of our specialties. We focus on reliable recall, livestock awareness, and appropriate behaviour around horses and wildlife. Training typically requires 6-10 sessions conducted in progressively challenging environments around Ponteland, Prestwick, and nearby countryside locations to ensure your dog can safely enjoy the area's excellent walking opportunities.
Professional dog training in Ponteland creates confident, well-mannered companions suited to both village life and countryside adventures. Our proven methods combine modern training techniques with understanding of local requirements, from High Street behaviour to countryside recall.
