These puppy training classes were excellent! I use a rollator to walk and Kathryn helped me change exercises to accommodate my needs and adjust to doing them with my rollator. The classes were detailed, plenty of opportunity for questions or extra help and taught the basics of puppyhood such as the following commands: Sit, stay, recall, leave it, heel work, focus on owner, etc. The classes were a maximum of 5 which was a lot better and meant Kathryn could give each of us the individual attention and provide alternative ways, adjustments and methods of training. She showed the value of high value versus lower value treats and how to slowly reduce value, quantity and need for treats as we progress and to replace with affection instead of treats. At the end, we got a certificate and rosette for completing the class. I would highly recommend this puppy class for new puppy parents.

Kathryn is a fabulous trainer, the whole puppy training course was so enjoyable. We were all made to feel welcome and comfortable. The easy way in which Kathryn explains things helps you feel confident and motivated to work with your pup. We loved every minute - wish it was a bit longer though as it was so good.

Kathryn is a brilliant trainer. We struggled to get our dog onto a puppy training course and Kathryn suggested the Gun Dog Training Stage 1 as an alternative. This was perfect as we learnt basic commands and developed our bond. We now have the skills needed to manage a very active young dog. We loved it!

I am beyond grateful for the 1-1 training Emily provided for my two Italian greyhounds and have seen real improvement with reactivity and prey drive, which was proving challenging when on walks and in public. Emily taught the basic skills of positive reinforcement and more importantly the need for rest days!! I was initially skeptical of rest days due to the amount of energy my dogs have, however Emily showed us how we can use scent work and field hire to exert energy in different ways away from triggers. This has been eye opening and I am so grateful as are my two! They are much more settled and not as stressed when in the home or out on walks. Working from home is becoming much easier too. I have learnt the power of my words and ones that work for them, that they will respond to. Emily was able to put the effort in to my two simultaneously, catering for their unique needs. I am so grateful for the support Emily has provided and on going support if needed which is super reassuring. The improvements I have seen so far has been life changing for all of us and with continued practice will make perfect. Thank you Emily! I couldn’t recommend enough. 5*! We’ve recently had a set of puppy 121’s with Emily to make sure we start off on the right foot with our new Collie cross. Emily has been great to work with, totally flexible in her approach and the training is completely tailored to our pups needs. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and look forward to attending some of the varied classes she runs in the near future.

Booked Emily for 4 sessions for my border collie puppy Nelly who is a car chaser . Emily was warm friendly helpful and very knowledgable . She pointed me in the right direction and added that consistency is the key . She was also very patient with me as I don’t absorb information easily and struggle with consistency too. The car chasing still very much work in progress but will continue working on it . Would highly recommend Emily to anyone needing help with their 4 legged friend . Thanks Emily

Emily is an excellent trainer, with real in depth knowledge and experience in applying positive reinforcement. She worked with me and my typical teenager lad who is pulling a lot on the lead and whose recall has got very unreliable. She went through lots of different tools that we could use, tailoring them to suit the fact he is awkwardly not that food motivated. He really enjoyed the session and I got a lot out of it too. Would totally recommend.

I would absolutely recommend this grooming parlour. I took both my dogs today for a full groom. One is 16yrs old and has numerous ailments. The other is a 9month old puppy who is very cute and bouncy. When I collected them, they both looked amazing. My older dog was jumping up like a happy little lamb. I haven't seen him do that for years. It was lovely to see. Thank you to everyone at Bark. xxx

Harrison’s Dog Training was recommended by our local vet as an experienced positive skills based trainer. We chose the Pet Gun Dog classes for our Labrador, to work on engagement and impulse control. She has thoroughly enjoyed all the activities and it has been great to see her use her working dog brain in a fun, force free environment. We would highly recommend Harrison’s Dog Training for all breeds of dog, as there are classes for many different abilities and ages.

Having taken on a rescue from Romania we were beginning to despair if we could ever get him to settle and behave but Myles gave us the tools and the confidence that made the difference. We now have a more contented and well behaved dog. It takes dedication but with Myles help and support it has been so worth it.

Together with Tina and their doggy helpers make a great team and i would highly recommend for a dog of any age and ability.

Professional Dog Trainers in Chorley: Expert Canine Training Services

Finding qualified dog trainers in Chorley means connecting with professionals who understand the unique demands of dog ownership in this historic Lancashire market town. From training puppies near Astley Park to managing reactive dogs along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal towpath, our certified trainers deliver personalised obedience training, behaviour modification, and puppy socialisation programmes tailored to local life.

Serving all areas including Chorley town centre, Buckshaw Village, Adlington, and Coppull, we've successfully trained over 1,800 dogs across the area in the past eight years. Our expertise addresses the specific challenges of dog ownership in Chorley, from navigating busy Market Street to enjoying off-lead exercise at Yarrow Valley Country Park and Eccleston.

Why Choose Professional Dog Training in Chorley

Chorley presents distinct training requirements shaped by its mix of traditional market town character and modern developments like Buckshaw Village. The area's excellent network of parks including Astley Park, Coronation Recreation Ground, and access to West Pennine Moors provides superb training environments, but also means dogs encounter numerous other canines daily, making proper socialisation essential.

Our trainers specialise in preparing dogs for Chorley's varied environments, from the crowds at Chorley Market on Flat Iron Market days to the quiet paths around Anglezarke Reservoir. We understand local requirements including navigating the busy train station area, walking through town centre pedestrian zones, and the recall demands of wide open spaces at Healey Nab. This local knowledge ensures your training translates directly into confident, well-mannered behaviour throughout your daily routines.

Tailored Dog Training Solutions for Chorley Residents

Puppy Training and Early Development

Our puppy programmes build solid foundations during the critical 8-16 week socialisation period. We introduce young dogs to Chorley's environment systematically, including town centre activity, canal paths, park encounters, and varied terrain from flat paths to moorland walks. Training covers house training, crate training, bite inhibition, and essential commands, with controlled socialisation in locations like Astley Park ensuring puppies develop into confident, adaptable dogs.

Reactive Dog and Behaviour Modification

Chorley's popular walking routes often reveal reactivity challenges. Our behaviour modification programmes address leash reactivity on narrow canal towpaths, fear-based responses, and resource guarding. Using positive reinforcement techniques, we help dogs learn calm responses to triggers at busy locations like the footpaths around Yarrow Valley, building tolerance progressively and replacing problematic behaviours with focus and self-control.

Advanced Recall and Off-Lead Training

For dogs ready to progress, our advanced training develops reliable off-lead control essential for safely enjoying Chorley's open spaces. We build bombproof recall despite distractions at locations like Rivington Pike, White Coppice, and Birkacre. Training ensures dogs respond reliably whether in quiet residential streets or amid the activity of popular weekend walking destinations, giving owners complete confidence.
