We took our 8 month old cocker to this site for the first time on Saturday, he absolutely loved it, he was so happy running free and very safe. Would recommend this site for any new owners of pups.
What a lovely place, first time with our cocker spaniel and he loved it. Will be booking another session. Highly recommend.
Wow what a lovely place to have fun with your dog. I googled agility training and K9 Academy popped up. It was less than 10 miles from us so we just had to go. Our Border Collie had never done anything like this before but was so exited to be jumping over fences and through hoops along with going through the tunnels and climbing over the obstacles. Private well kept field with professional kit and no distractions. Places to rest or have a picnic while you’re there. What a great evening we had and have already booked again. 100% recommended.
What a fanatic place. We loved it, and most of all, so did Rubix. Highly recommend it.

Before I met Raimonda I was at a loss with my chihuahua. I adopted him and saw how reactive he was quickly with barking at everything, getting out of control and he was very stressed. Going outside was a fear and hiding behind cars and bushes when people and dogs walked by. After training with Raimonda, we learnt so many training techniques and tips. I fully trusted the process and am in such a different place now which I never thought would happen. I’m so pleased we found Raimonda, the training sessions have been so valuable. Being able to take my dog out for calm walks is amazing! Highly recommend
I write this review as I sit and eat my lunch whilst my puppy FINALLY naps in his crate. This morning I was firmly stuck in the puppy blues but I feel so much more positive after my 2 hour session with Raimonda. I’ve always felt confident training my dogs but recently got a 5 month old puppy who had spent all his life so far in a kennels, so felt a bit confused about the best way forward, specifically with crate and toilet training. Raimonda has helped me make sense of how to train him and totally reinforced my confidence. I cannot thank you enough!
Fantastic dog trainer gave us many tips and positive ways to make our dog far more obedient and much happier would definitely recommend..
What can I say..Rai has worked wonders with my dog. He was fearful of everything but aggressive with it. Literally everything from people, dogs, pushchairs, joggers, hi viz jackets and bikes. He was a hyper nervous wreck. He also previously suffered trama in his life which added to it. I knew there was a softie under all that floof and I so desperate to help him, finding the right trainer was hard. Then literally I found Rai, a BIG ray of sunshine. Cannot thank her enough, she had a battle on her hands to find a safe way to work with us. She also gave me confidence as well to learn to trust him which was so hard!! She's not just a fantastic trainer but a lovely person and I have already recommended her to 3 people. She's really amazing👏 5 🌟 isn't enough. She has literally changed our lives!!
Raimonda is an Excellent trainer, she as helped Cooper a lot, just need to concentrate on getting him not to bark at dogs, we got him to not bark at people, would definitely recommend her

Jerome is an incredible trainer & has great knowledge! Our dog was reactive and had little experience in general and with the information we were given/shown we’ve been able to fix how we are with our dog to help guide her! Everything was explained in such detail and demonstrated in such a way that the training was so easy to grasp too and implement into our everyday. Thank you so much! ☺️
We had such a great experience working with Jerome! He’s incredibly personable and put us at ease right from the start. He’s very knowledgeable and always made himself available to answer our questions, no matter how small. You can tell he really cares about what he does and wants the best for both dogs and their owners. Highly recommend!
Highly recommend JHD Training. Very practical advice, great engagement with myself and my dog. Working In public spaces was a valuable experience.
Punctual friendly and very good with Sydney. Learnt so much from Jerome and up to us now. He is there at the end of the phone if we need him and that's reassuring to know. Totally 💯 recommend
Jerome gave us really clear guidance and tools to help with our dogs reactivity. We would recommend him to anyone!

I've been a member since TDTS first opened, and I absolutely love it. The sense of community is incredible — there's no judgment, just support and encouragement. The range of resources is fantastic, from online courses and webinars to live sessions and the absolutely amazing in-person training. It’s all excellent value for money too. The help and support available are second to none, and everyone is so friendly. I truly love being part of the TDTS family - that's really what it feels like, a dog trainers family! Thank you Lee and Helen!
Just got back from the 2-day Practical Skills weekend hosted by Lee and Helen from The Dog Trainer School — what an amazing couple of days! Full of brilliant ideas for training classes, 1-2-1s, workshops and working with my own dog too. It was a great hands-on experience, surrounded by other inspirational trainers who were so friendly, supportive and encouraging. The focus was all about keeping things fun and simple for clients, which I absolutely loved. Feeling absolutely shattered but so inspired — thank you for an awesome weekend!
I have been a TDTS member since it opened and have done several in person courses too. It’s always a fab learning experience and I come away brimming with ideas! The membership itself is an amazing resource full of value and a great supportive community 🥰
A fantastic resource for dog trainers! Helen and Lee have made my life so much easier by providing the information, training, and the support that they do. £12 a month is well worth it!! Highly reccomend to any dog trainer out there.
A brilliant Saturday in Peterborough a few weekends back with The Dog Trainer School! I attended their Workshops workshop, Lee & Helen were both so welcoming and made me feel at ease instantly. The Workshops workshop was fantastic, I had a great day learning new things and they've helped me come up with new workshop ideas for my business. Lee made sure that the course was tailored to exactly what the attendees wanted to get from the session with a perfect mix of theory and practical elements to the workshop as well as a few breaks. I also loved Helen's talk on marketing at the end as this is something I really need to improve on. I would 100% recommend The Dog Trainer School courses to anyone looking to learn new things or improve their knowledge further. I plan on signing up to their membership soon.

Very patient and understands dogs very well. Solved my issues after literally one session, can’t recommend enough
Very happy with her service! Thank you .
Very useful session which has already shown benefits with our dogs behaviour, would have no hesitation in recommending daisy.
I met Daisy during lockdown, she tailored the class to be in line with Government guidelines but without making the session less impactful. Daisy was really friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. She taught me a lot about general puppy behaviour and what certain actions meant. She was quick to understand my puppy's specific personality and help me learn what would work best for us. I found the session so helpful. She also followed up with detailed notes describing what we'd discussed/practiced in the session and some recommendations on certain toys/treats that would be best for my dog. I would definitely recommend her one to one training classes.

Serving Orton and surrounding areas including Tebay, Raisbeck, and the broader Eden Valley, we've successfully trained over 850 dogs in the region. Our expertise addresses the unique challenges of rural dog ownership, from livestock awareness training to recall in open fells.
Orton presents distinctive training requirements shaped by its rural setting and agricultural heritage. The village's proximity to working farms, abundant wildlife, and open moorland means dogs require exceptional recall, livestock awareness, and confidence in varied terrain. Our trainers specialise in preparing dogs for countryside living, including exposure to sheep, cattle, horses, and wildlife like deer and rabbits that populate the fells.
Training addresses specific rural challenges including navigating bridleways, responding reliably on open hillsides, and maintaining calm behaviour around livestock. We understand local needs from preparing gundogs for the shooting season to ensuring family pets can safely enjoy walks across Orton Scar and surrounding countryside without disturbing farming operations.
Our specialist rural training focuses on developing reliable recall in open spaces and teaching dogs appropriate behaviour around livestock. Training includes controlled exposure to sheep and cattle, boundary respect near farmland, and building recall that works across large distances on fells and moorland where distractions are abundant.
For Orton's working dog community, we provide gundog training, sheepdog foundation work, and general working dog obedience. Training covers steadiness, retrieving, directional commands, and the discipline required for dogs working alongside handlers in demanding rural environments.
Our puppy programmes introduce young dogs to rural life systematically, including various terrains, farm animals, agricultural equipment, and country sounds. We build solid foundations including recall, lead walking on country lanes, and confidence around vehicles and machinery common in farming communities.
Dog training in rural Cumbria typically ranges from £35-65 per hour for private sessions, with specialist working dog training at £45-75 per hour. Group classes cost £10-18 per session, while comprehensive programmes range from £200-400 for 6-8 weeks. Mobile services throughout Orton and surrounding villages are standard practice.
Yes, livestock awareness training is essential in Orton's agricultural setting. Training involves controlled exposure to sheep and cattle, teaching boundaries and recall away from livestock, and building impulse control. Most dogs require 6-12 sessions to develop reliable behaviour around farm animals, with ongoing reinforcement recommended throughout their lives given the rural environment.
Professional dog training in Orton creates confident, well-behaved companions suited to countryside living. Our proven methods combine traditional rural training wisdom with modern positive reinforcement techniques, ensuring dogs thrive in Eden Valley's beautiful but demanding environment.
