We were recommended to Sinead by our dog trainer, as we had been struggling with our male malamute after some negative dog experiences, but also battling frustration and lead walking for years. As we aren’t local Sinead has been happy to work with us and our trainer to help guide us through the early work ensuring we are getting the foundations right. The change in my dog after 3 sessions with Sinead is immense! We are just at the very start of our journey and we are already in the best position we have ever been! I can’t express how life changing Sinead has been for not only us but my dog too. The sessions are so informative and real, not sterile environments but also not setting the dogs up to fail. Every small part of the process is explained in so much detail to ensure we understand exactly so that our communication is clear between us and Swayze. But it doesn’t just stop there, Sinead is always at the end of the phone giving advice and feedback when we send over how we are getting on. We set new goals as the weeks go on. The goals are attainable and are set to work around us, she’s our biggest cheerleader too! And celebrates our wins just like we do! She really cares for the dogs and wants to see them thrive. Swayze loves the sessions and Sinead! We can’t thank her enough, we are now not battling with our dog and we are enjoying him and our walks as a team! I can’t wait to see what the rest of this training journey has to come!

Our dog a Zuchon is only small but has a big attitude. He had behaviour issues due to not socialising like he should have due to covid. He would bark at strangers and some dogs. We tried numerous things but we then came across Unity K9. Lewis & Sinead have been amazing not only having patience with Harvey but also with ourselves whilst going through the different training aspects. They are so knowledgeable and nothing is too much trouble. I've sent videos to Sinead to check we are doing everything correctly and always had a response. We've had one to one sessions. Been on a group session and also a home visit. The difference in Harvey is amazing and it's not just us that have noticed the difference. So thank you Sinead and Lewis for not only helping Harvey but us also. It's now a pleasure to go for a walk. We would highly recommend.

If you need to train your dog, this is definitely the place to go. Sinead and Lewis are great. They definitely know their stuff, have a lot of time, and patience. My dog, Boris, had been attacked by an XL bully, so he was really reactive. I've been going to Unity K9 now for 4 months and Boris is already a different dog, better behaved, and a lot more chilled. I can't thank them enough.

When a well-known dog charity told us we had no other option but to put my 2 year old German Shepherd to sleep, we found Unity K9 who saved us. We have been working with them for over a year, and they have helped me to see a future where we can live our best lives with our dog. You won't find more caring, knowledgeable, and supportive trainers. We have also used Unity K9 for boarding, I can't recommend this enough. Training was maintained throughout his stay and he came home calmer than ever. Amazing option to have, 100000% recommend.

Lewis and Sinead have worked magic with my very dog-reactive dog. When he first came to me on foster in may 2024 he was two days away from behavioural euthanasia for his reactivity. After working with Lewis and Sinead he was a different dog. It took time and hard work but now I can walk him anywhere and we both have the skills to deal with real life situations such as off lead dogs with no recall, a situation that would have filled me with dread this time last year and prevented me from enjoying my dog. Now we enjoy out time together and out walking. THANKS GUYS

Cannot recommend Faye highly enough. My dog was 6 years old when I found out I was pregnant, he was very excitable and I could only describe his first experience of seeing a baby as like he had seen a cat. He used to pace around the house when the baby arrived and was showing clear signs of stress. After multiple sessions with Faye during my pregnancy and after my baby was born, Cooper is a totally different dog, relaxed and obedient around the baby. Thank you so much ☺️

We have been working with Faye remotely and she has been awesome. She was the first dog professional who really helped me to investigate the possibility that there could be a pain component to my dogs reactivity. And as our training goals have shifted she's been supportive and knowledgeable every step of the way. You also get training demo videos with her glamorous assistant Barbie which is obviously priceless. If you have a dog with big feelings and want a skilled dog behavior pro with a sense of humour I would 100% recommend CTPD!

I've known Faye for many years, having met through the Dobermann community. When I took my current rescue boy on, I had already had 10+ years of rescue/reactive dogs so I had plenty of knowledge already, however Henry turned out to be the most challenging of any of my dogs, being both dog and human reactive. Having a second (professional) set of eyes and experience to advise was key. Being able to turn to Faye for assistance in working at distance from distraction and then parallel walking is invaluable. The fact she's prepared to travel an hour to come an work with us is fantastic. We've done sessions in secure fields, urban environments and on a country walk and Henry has come on leaps and bounds, but we will continue to work with his confidence in order to make our walks manageable and our lives happier. Because of the work we have put in, he now has made another doggy friend who he can run off lead with in a secure field which is marvellous. It's so important to find someone who works in a positive reinforcement way for challenging dogs like Henry who easily get overwhelmed. I would not hesitate in recommending Calm the Pup Down Dog Training and Behaviour

I was beginning to despair when I contacted Calm the Pup Down as I had tried in person training, online programmes, books and watched hours of Tik Toks and YouTube videos but was making little to no progress with my dog's intense fear of strangers. We were constantly worried she would bark and frighten people and our weekly grocery delivery was a nightmare as she would get so worked up. She can now mooch about the sitting room while the delivery takes place without a single bark! Things that were becoming really stressful and worrying are now enjoyable so we can safely say Faye has changed our life as a family. I've done a few online dog training programmes and felt that I was sent generic content with minimal recognition of our unique situation but this couldn't be further from the truth with CTPD. Everything is so carefully personalised to your dog, your environment and feedback between sessions. The written notes and email support between the Zoom meetings are incredibly detailed and the effort which goes into them - video links, personalised diagrams and detailed explanations - is outstanding. All homework is broken down into manageable chunks and tasks with excellent instructions and explanations which Faye will readily adapt if something isn't quite working. Each time we sent an update or query, we would receive a prompt reply with lots of really helpful feedback, adjustments and next steps so it felt like having a trainer in our pocket! Faye is very professional whilst also being really fun, interesting and encouraging to speak to. You cannot fake the passion and care she has for dogs and their wellbeing (especially those who are a bit of a handful!) The range and depth of her knowledge on all things dog and reactivity really impressed me and I have learned so much from her. My only criticism of Faye is she should definitely be charging more for the service she provides! If you're feeling stuck or worried about your dog's behaviour, I'd really encourage you to book in for a discovery call with Faye. It is hands down the best thing we've ever done for our girl! 🖤🐾

Having a reactive dog, things have always been difficult and I’d been worried about introducing her to other dogs. With Faye’s careful help and guidance I have managed to move in with my partner and her dog and the two dogs are now bonding closely. I never thought this was possible and it’s made a hugely positive impact to all of our lives. Faye is very knowledge and patient and knows her s***. Cannot recommend enough!

Melissa has been walking my rescue boy Benton on solo walks and I have to say how impressed I am with her knowledge and care. Benton is a nervous soul due to some experiences he's had in the past and Melissa was so good at reassuring him and building up his confidence. I actually work with dogs myself and it's clear that Melissa is the real deal - she understands canine behaviour. I'm extremely happy and would highly recommend her services.

We have been going to Rixton Dog School for years, and with multiple dogs, which tells you everything you need to know. The team of trainers are very good, and support a positive method of training which does not involve the use of punishment of any kind. They carefully observe each dog's behaviour and adjust training as-needed accordingly. I've seen everything from nervous dogs, to stubborn pups who would rather do ANYTHING other than the task at hand (this would be mine), to exuberant, energetic dogs all too eager to please. All are trained according to standards but with the individual's needs always on mind. 100% recommended to absolutely anyone.

Helping me train my easily distracted pup. Is all based on care and reward. There is the prospect of higher level recognised training. Just the place I had been looking for. It's me that needs the training and I'm going to get it.

William has been going to Deborah’s training since he was a puppy . He loves her and really enjoys the class we attend. He has become a well trained happy spaniel and a pleasure to own thanks to her expertise and encouragement. The class we attend incorporates a good mix of obedience , agility and proprioception activities. It’s always fun and enjoyable and I’d highly recommend Deborah as a brilliant teacher with the knowledge to get the best out of dog and owner.

The community's proximity to the Bridgewater Canal provides wonderful walking routes but demands reliable recall and lead manners, especially during busy weekends when families and cyclists share the towpaths.

Our trainers understand local life, from the traffic along the East Lancashire Road to the community atmosphere around Little Hulton precinct. We specialise in preparing dogs for everyday situations including encounters with other dogs at local walking spots, managing behaviour in homes with shared walls, and building confidence around the everyday sounds of this busy residential area.

Dog Training Solutions for Little Hulton Residents

Puppy Training and Early Socialisation

Our puppy programmes focus on the critical 8-16 week socialisation period, introducing young dogs to Little Hulton's environment including traffic noise, street activity, and canal-side distractions. Training covers house training, crate training for smaller homes, basic commands, and controlled socialisation with other dogs and people, building confidence that prevents future behavioural issues.

Reactive Dog Training and Behaviour Modification

We address common reactivity issues including leash reactivity on narrow pavements, barrier frustration, and fear-based responses. Using positive reinforcement techniques, we help dogs learn calm behaviour when encountering triggers along local walking routes, gradually building tolerance and replacing unwanted behaviours with focus and self-control.

Recall Training and Off-Lead Control

For safe enjoyment of local green spaces and canal walks, we develop reliable recall despite distractions. Training ensures your dog responds consistently whether walking along the Bridgewater Canal or exploring nearby Worsley Woods, giving you confidence to provide proper exercise while maintaining complete control.
