Really personal experience, she very much trained based on our dogs specific needs and temperament, taught us so much on a one to one session. Followed up with an email filled with all her guidance/advice/tips in the session as well as her recommendations for products/food/training/ equipment that will help us and our dog. Would very much recommend going here.

We have been doing a 12 week foundation course with Acer gun dogs. Today we passed our field test! It has been an absolutely amazing course, brilliant teachers and is taught in such a good way. I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ if you want to develop a closer bond and understanding with your dog, there is nowhere else to go!

Acer cancelled my course subscription at short notice under a very unconvincing excuse. They are very unprofessional. CORRECTION: I called the owner's (insurance-related) reason given to me for cancelling my subscription "unconvincing". In his reply, the owner states a very different reason. He chose to intervene in a family situation and disrupt an imperfect but a balance nevertheless causing much emotional turmoil. To top it all off, he made public claims about my daughter. She or people who know her are likely to find his post. This is very insensitive to a child. I won't be drawn into discussing very personal and private affairs in public. It's right to keep this 1-star review here. If the attempt at family cancelling by Acer's owner happened to my family, it can happen to others.

We have been training with Acer since our puppy Lola was 8 weeks old and the courses are fantastic. For our most recent courses on the beginner gun dog course we’ve had Nicole and she is just BRILLIANT as a trainer. She has the patience of a saint and will adapt all of her advice to the individual dog. There were times where Lola just didn’t want to do as she was told/was very distracted at the field with all the smells but Nicole always came up with ways to support and help us and never made it seem like an impossible task! The advice is always tailored to you personally and the experiences you’re going through with your own dog. We couldn’t recommend Acer enough!

Absolutely nothing negative to say! We went with some family, dogs, kids and adults! The kids had the best time playing in the pool with the dogs! It was like our own private hour long party! Everyone had a fantastic time and very tired humans and dogs afterwards. Perfect for our dog who is selective with his friends, he could run free swimming and playing ball to his hearts content!

As the weather was too warm for a normal walk, I booked an hour in the secure field with the pool. My dog, Mabel absolutely loved it, we will be back

I highly recommend leaps and bounds. The trainers there are absolutely amazing and super knowledgeable. They do everything they can to help you with any issue. I have struggled with my rescue puppy and they have just been extremely helpful. I see Nat for my sessions who has been a trainer, shoulder to cry on and someone to make you laugh when you need it. Even though I am in class with Nat, Tammy the owner and Nic who is a trainer and in the office ask for updates and check in with how we are doing. I will never take Pablo or future dogs anywhere else 🐾

Love the team at Leaps and Bounds. Especially Tammy, Jo and Kate from my days of attending years ago with my boy Gizmo. They were always very positive and encouraging and catered for all size dogs and temperaments. Love the agility course they have and since they've expanded their team and facilties. My mum and brothers border terriers went to pup classes the years after Gizmo and they had a very positive experience too, and highly regarded Natalie as a wonderful trainer. Working as a Veterinary Surgeon I'm constantly meeting young pups or dogs that are rehomes etc, it's great to have a place to be able to guide and recommend to new and experienced dog owners alike. 5 stars from the Keen and Border fanatic family xxx

Both our dogs attend Leaps and Bounds group classes. The classes include dogs at similar levels of development and are very well resourced and varied in content. Nat and her colleagues create a very positive environment while never shying away from areas that need addressing. Both dogs love going and have progressed to more advanced classes and this helps me adapt my training to their changing needs. I thoroughly recommend Leaps and Bounds.

I cannot rate the customer service of G3 dogs high enough. Edmond was amazing with communication and was so helpful when Royal Mail were not. I would recommend G3 dogs any day! Thank you Edmond and Team!!!

I would have given this company 100 stars if I could have, especially Edmond. After me ordering the wrong item and having to send it back by Royal Mail special delivery at a cost of £7.35 which then somehow got lost in the post. When I emailed G3 dogs I had a prompt reply from Edmond saying they hadn't received it. I sent him my proof of postage and he got on the case. He filled in all the online forms for me as I had told him I was having difficulty with it all. I received a refund from Royal Mail for the postage. Then a company that Royal Mail had sent the item to in error very kindly sent it onto G3 dogs and Edmond immediately let me know that it had come to light and issued a full refund. I have never had customer service like this before and every time I emailed them their response was immediate. Well done to G3 dogs I can't recommend them highly enough.

Professional Dog Trainers in Fen Ditton: Expert Canine Training Services

Finding skilled dog trainers in Fen Ditton means working with professionals who understand the unique character of this charming Cambridgeshire village. Located just northeast of Cambridge along the River Cam, Fen Ditton offers beautiful rural walking routes and riverside paths that require dogs with excellent recall and social skills. Our experienced trainers provide personalised obedience training, behaviour modification, and puppy socialisation programmes tailored to village life and the surrounding countryside.

Serving Fen Ditton, Horningsea, Quy, Teversham, and surrounding areas within the CB5 postcode, we've successfully trained over 180 dogs in the past five years. Whether you're walking along the towpath to the Plough pub, exercising in the recreation ground, or navigating the narrow High Street, we ensure your dog becomes a well-mannered companion suited to both village living and Cambridge city visits.

Why Choose Dog Training in Fen Ditton

Fen Ditton presents specific training needs shaped by its semi-rural location and strong community atmosphere. The village's proximity to the River Cam provides excellent walking opportunities but requires reliable recall training, especially along the popular towpath where cyclists, joggers, and rowers create constant distractions. The narrow village lanes demand perfect lead manners, while encounters with livestock in surrounding farmland necessitate strong impulse control.

Our trainers specialise in preparing dogs for Fen Ditton's unique environment, including desensitisation to rowing boats during Bumps races, farm animals in nearby fields, and the busy activity around the Ancient Shepherds pub. We understand local walking routes from the recreation ground to Stourbridge Common, ensuring your training translates directly into everyday situations throughout your village routines.

Dog Training Solutions for Fen Ditton Residents

Puppy Training and Village Socialisation

Our puppy programmes focus on early development during the critical 8-16 week period. We introduce young dogs to Fen Ditton's environment including farm sounds, cyclists on narrow lanes, and the active riverside atmosphere. Training covers house training, basic commands, and controlled socialisation in the village recreation ground, building confidence that prevents future behavioural issues.

Recall Training for Riverside and Rural Walks

Reliable recall proves essential for safely enjoying Fen Ditton's beautiful walking routes. We develop bombproof recall despite distractions including waterfowl along the Cam, cyclists on towpaths, and wildlife in surrounding fields. Training ensures your dog responds reliably whether walking to nearby Horningsea or exploring routes toward Stourbridge Common.

Livestock and Wildlife Awareness Training

Living near working farmland requires dogs with excellent impulse control. Our training teaches dogs to remain calm around sheep, cattle, and horses in surrounding fields, responding immediately to commands when encountering livestock. This training protects both your dog and local farm animals while allowing enjoyable countryside walks.

Dog Training Questions in Fen Ditton

How much does dog training cost in Fen Ditton?

Dog training in Fen Ditton typically costs £45-70 per hour for private sessions, with package deals offering better value at £250-450 for 6-8 week programmes. Group classes in nearby Cambridge cost £15-25 per session. Mobile trainers serving the village usually include travel within their rates, making home training convenient and cost-effective.

Where can I train my dog in Fen Ditton?

Fen Ditton offers several excellent training locations including the village recreation ground off the High Street, quiet lanes for lead work practice, and the riverside towpath for distraction training. Nearby Stourbridge Common provides larger open spaces for advanced recall work, while surrounding footpaths offer rural training environments with controlled livestock exposure.

Do I need livestock training for my Fen Ditton dog?

Yes, livestock training is highly recommended for Fen Ditton dogs. The village is surrounded by working farmland with sheep and cattle in nearby fields. Dogs must learn to remain calm and under control around livestock both for legal requirements under the Countryside Code and for the safety of farm animals. Professional training prevents potentially dangerous situations during countryside walks.
