Tom & Victoria have been absolutely amazing at helping us with our cavapoo puppy ‘Freddie’ since we got him. They gave us a detailed, personalised plan for Freddie after a very thorough assessment which has helped us greatly. The follow up videos from Tom have been invaluable and we will continue to refer back to these for a long time!! They are extremely knowledgeable, always at the end of the phone if you need any help/tips and deeply care about their clients/dogs. Thank you so much Uncle Tom and Victoria!!! Would recommend to anyone
I contacted Pooch on a Pedestal after our rescue puppy started to develop some challenging behaviours at home and outside. Victoria has been so helpful in helping us identify triggers and appropriate interventions and activities for Jimmy to help get him back on track. They have helped us manage doggy sibling relationships, socialisation, fear barking/reactivity, separation and more. I couldn’t be more pleased with the constant support we’ve had at all times and will continue to work with Pooch on a Pedestal moving forward.
Victoria and Tom have a wonderful way about them. They have worked so hard with our rescue dogs. If you value, kindest and experience then these are the team for you and your doggo.
We had a fantastic experience with Victoria and Tom! They were absolutely brilliant with our golden retriever—so patient, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. They provided us with a really detailed training plan and even sent over a video to help guide us at home, which made a huge difference. They were also incredibly friendly and easy to talk to, which put us (and our dog!) at ease right away. Thanks to their support, he’s doing so well with his training. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for expert, caring trainers!
Tom and Victoria are the Pooch on a Pedestal dream team! When we adopted our working cocker spaniel puppy we were at a loss as how to best train her and meet her insatiable energy levels! After an initial assessment and intense training sessions with Victoria, Sadie has been going on regular socialization walks with Tom and has recently graduated to ‘cocker club’ 😂 we are so grateful to Tom and Victoria for their expert knowledge and genuine affection for the dogs they work with. Their advice and support guided us through the early stages, helping us to understand Sadie and facilitating her smooth transition into our family. Thank you! 🐶🐾

My pug was suffering with hind leg weakness and muscle wastage following an illness he struggled with stairs, jumping on the sofa as usual, long walks etc. We looked into lots of different hydrotherapy providers and decided on Aquadogs. Both Ceri and Angela are highly knowledgeable of different dog breeds and you can tell they are massive dog lovers! My pug was nervous for his first few sessions as he hates new environments and people but by the second or third session Angela had won him round by going at his pace and lots of treats! We noticed a huge difference in Hugo as he was able to jump up again, tackle the stairs with ease and was less breathless on walks! So his general fitness had improved. We can also tell he genuinely really loves the sessions as he is so happy afterwards! We were only planning to do 10 sessions but he loved it so much we have kept it up since April now! We could also claim back £500 from Petplan and Angela filled in the forms quickly for us and our claim was quickly approved! I highly highly recommend they are excellent value for money and it has been worth the investment to see the improvements in my pug❤️
Me and my partner will recommend everyone that we can to Aqua Dogs, we've been taking our Chow Chow Teddy here to help manage his osteoarthritis and support his weight loss. Ceri has been amazing with him and is very understanding if he appears uncomfortable with anything. It's clear that she is very knowledgeable in her field, she has given us information to support Teddy's treatment - such as feeding information, walking recommendations and massage techniques. Since coming here over the past 6 weeks we have seen an increase in Teddy's mobility, he appears to have a real spring in his step, he has been more playful and seems to have more energy than he used to. For an old boy (10 years old) I think hydrotherapy, along with Ceri's support and positive reinforcement has been just what Teddy has needed to improve his quality of life. Honorary picture attached, he looks fuming but really he loves it, especially when Ceri cracks out the treats!
Amazing Amazing Amazing. My Boy Haze Gets Soooo Excited When Coming Here, Very Warning, Friendly & Great Exercise For Him As He's A Senior Struggling With Athritis!! Had 8 Visits, One A Week & Have Seen Improvements In My Boy.
After being referred by my vettywoman to have water exercises to help fix my leg, I went to AquaDogs with my Hooz. Ceri, the watervet, watched me walk and videoed it, and gave me loads of treats. Then we (me and Ceri) got in the bath together, she said I was clever and brave. All the time giving me treats, she's brilliant and she's fixing my bad leg too. Ceri is brilliant and can't wait to see her again, and my Hooz we well behaved too. If any furry furends have leg problems come here. They're nice and very easy with the treats. 🐾🐾💛
What an amazing place we took our dog Chester for his 1st hydrotherapy session after patella luxation surgery. Ceri was amazing so patient and explained everything to us. Chester did so well and we feel we're in great hands to complete Chester's recovery. Can't praise this team highly enough.

Fantastic trainer, patient and kind
We started taking our puppy 2 weeks ago. We are getting better results with cues, tips on behaviour, and advice on building the confidence of our pup and us. Tamara is amazing
Questions not applicable as it is a puppy training course. Fantastic information and any questions answered on a group or individual basis.
Fabulous dog trainer. Can perform miracles!
We took our black Labrador puppy to Propups puppy classes. We not only thoroughly enjoyed the classes but felt they gave us the tools we need to raise Rosie correctly. It was also great to be able to get advice and support from the trainers during the class on other issues we were experiencing. We will be signing up for graduate classes to continue the learning!

Fantastic venue to learn for both humans and dogs, we were part of a puppy course and then a junior course, smudge the sprocker learnt so much from Sharron and so did we. Positive training and reinforcement, top tips, fun training inside the barn or out in the enormous field. Sharon’s knowledge of training and dog psychology is incredible. She taught us all calmly, quietly and successfully. Brilliant. Thank you
Great dog training here

Julie’s puppy classes are amazing! Darla’s confidence has grown so much over the 6 weeks, we’ve been taught valuable skills and techniques that have become part of our daily routine. Highly recommend!
We attended the puppy classes and obedience classes with our German shepherd. She is now coming up to one years old and what an amazing dog she is! She has all the tricks we learnt in class down to a T and she is amazing on the lead, even when there are distractions around. Not only is this a class for the dogs but it’s a class for us. I have a reactive 8 year old staffy who’s been through a lot of trauma and is terrified of other dogs and men. Whenever there’s food around he freezes in place and is unable to move. He never attended these classes at the barn but using the advice and skills Julie taught me, I started working with him for a few minutes a day. Now less than a week later he can perform ‘safe’, ‘close’ and walks amazingly next to me. He’s a lot more confident in himself and his anxiety has eased a lot on walks. What an amazing experience these classes have been🥰
I took my puppy to the barn it was a great experience for us both, Julie was amazing and gave me the tools I need to truly connect with and guide my dog, our bond has been so much stronger ever since! Cannot recommend enough:)
Three months after attending the barn puppy school and continuing to use the commands and positive reward-based training we learnt from Julie, Bonnie is now such a well behaved Jack Russell. She walks neatly alongside us with the reminder of ‘tight’ and passes other dogs quietly and happily - she’s always so happy to make new friends along the way too! When starting puppy school, Bonnie was overexcited and barked a lot, but thanks to the barn we’re able to take her to dog friendly places where she quietly lays on her mat. We can’t thank Julie and the barn enough for all the advice and guidance - we would definitely recommend!
Finding qualified dog trainers in Caerphilly means connecting with professionals who understand the unique needs of this historic Welsh town where medieval heritage meets vibrant community life. From training puppies in residential areas near Caerphilly Castle to managing reactive dogs along the scenic Rhymney River Trail, our certified trainers deliver personalised obedience training, behaviour modification, and puppy socialisation programmes tailored to local conditions.
Serving all areas including Caerphilly town centre, Bedwas, Trethomas, and Energlyn, we've successfully trained over 1,800 dogs across the county borough in the past eight years. Our expertise addresses the unique challenges of dog ownership in this Welsh community, from navigating the bustling Van Road to enjoying off-lead exercise at Morgan Jones Park and Parc Penallta.
Caerphilly presents distinct training requirements shaped by its mix of valleys terrain, historic sites, and close-knit communities. The town's excellent network of parks including Caerphilly Castle grounds, Morgan Jones Park, and the extensive Parc Penallta provides wonderful training environments, but also means dogs encounter numerous other canines daily, making proper socialisation and recall training essential for safe, enjoyable walks throughout the CF83 postcode areas.
Our trainers specialise in addressing local challenges including desensitising dogs to the busy A468 and A469 routes, adapting to the hilly terrain characteristic of the South Wales Valleys, and building confidence for dogs using the Caerphilly to Cardiff train services. We understand that many Caerphilly residents live in terraced housing with shared pathways, requiring dogs with excellent public manners and the ability to coexist peacefully with neighbours in these traditional Welsh communities.
Our puppy training focuses on the critical 8-16 week socialisation window, introducing young dogs to Caerphilly's environment including the bustling town centre atmosphere, exposure to livestock near rural areas, and the varied terrain from valley paths to castle grounds. Training covers house training, crate training for smaller homes, bite inhibition, and essential commands. Controlled socialisation sessions help puppies develop confidence around other dogs and people in popular locations like Parc Penallta's visitor centre.
Caerphilly's popular walking routes often reveal reactivity issues. Our programmes address leash reactivity on narrow pavements, fear-based responses, and barrier frustration common in terraced properties. Using positive reinforcement, we help dogs learn calm responses to triggers encountered along the Rhymney River Trail or in busy areas near Morrisons and Tesco. Progressive training builds tolerance gradually, replacing unwanted behaviours with focus and self-control.
For dogs ready to progress, our advanced training develops reliable off-lead control necessary for safely enjoying Caerphilly's larger spaces. We build dependable recall despite distractions including wildlife at Parc Penallta, other dogs at Morgan Jones Park, and hikers on popular valley trails. Training ensures dogs respond reliably whether in residential streets or amid the weekend activity surrounding Caerphilly Castle, giving owners confidence to provide proper exercise.
Dog training in Caerphilly typically ranges from £35-65 per hour for private sessions, with 6-8 week packages averaging £250-450. Group classes cost £10-18 per session, while puppy courses spanning six weeks average £120-220. Many trainers offer free initial phone consultations.
Begin training immediately when bringing your puppy home around 8 weeks old. The critical socialisation period between 8-16 weeks makes early exposure to Caerphilly's environment essential. Puppies can join group classes after initial vaccinations at approximately 10-12 weeks, though dogs of any age benefit from professional training.
Yes, dogs can be trained for confident town centre walking. Training involves gradual exposure to crowds, traffic noise along Cardiff Road, and distractions near shops. Most dogs require 4-6 sessions to develop reliable lead manners in busy environments, starting in quieter areas and progressively introducing higher stimulation locations.
Professional dog training in Caerphilly strengthens the bond with your canine companion while ensuring they thrive in this historic Welsh town. Our proven methods combine evidence-based techniques with local knowledge, creating confident, well-mannered dogs ready to enjoy everything from valley walks to community events. Whether you live in town centre terraces or newer estates in Energlyn, investing in professional training ensures your dog becomes the reliable companion you've always wanted.
