I can’t thank Brian enough for his guidance, patience, and expertise. He has helped us build Buddy’s obedience and turned our walks into something we both love. Before starting the 12-week program, my golden retriever was extremely reactive, and pulled on the lead. I struggled to walk him, and it was a daily challenge. Now, after completing the program, he heels beautifully by my side, and doesn’t react to other dog. We enjoy peaceful, stress-free walks together. The transformation has been incredible.
I would highly recommend this training service. I feel like I am seeing the light after a struggle with my reactive dog thanks to the help and support from Brian and the team. Very approachable trainers.
Where to begin??? My big (and he's huge) black lab Baxter couldn't set sight on any other dog without reacting. LOUD barking and lunging to the point where I would drive miles to the middle of nowhere to walk him as my anxiety was through the roof and I didn't want to risk meeting another dog. Then I got in touch with T.P.K.T. They tailored a block of sessions to our needs which we are just over half way through. The difference in Baxter is unreal, today for example, at a session, we were in the park with 2 other dogs and he was lying down just watching them do their thing!!!! At an earlier session we actually walked alongside another dog!!!! We still have wee blips but like I said we are only half way through. The big difference is I now have more confidence to walk him in well known dog walking areas. Brian's knowledge and understanding of dogs is quite incredible and I can't thank him enough for the progress so far!!! Long story short..... don't think twice about booking T.P.K.T
We started working with Teachers Pet when our puppy was about 6 months old. We have a Great Dane puppy who can certainly be a handful and Brian has been excellent to work with. As well as training our dog it is training us as owners so we can achieve our ideal results. They have access to great facilities and the training has been very clear and we have seen great progress almost instantly. We're very excited to reach the end of our course and believe that we will have a well mannered and obedient dog.
We’re almost half way through our training plan at the moment and we are already impressed with the progress we have made in such a small amount of time. Brian’s knowledge and expertise are first class, his advice and guidance has really helped not just train buddy, but train us as his owners. We’re very grateful we came across Teachers Pet K9 Training and would highly recommend the company to anyone looking for help with training their dogs.

We have used the services of Croft Pets since 2010. I could write many pages on how extremely pleased we have been with the highest quality of care and attention that they provided to our 3 dogs, Saxon (Labrador), Campbell (Cockerdor) and Ritchie (JRT) Collectively known as The Boys, they loved going to Sue and it felt as if they were off to stay with an aunty to have fun. they always returned home very happy, so happy they often would run back to Aunty Sue!! we are now left with only 1 of The Boys as Saxon passed away in 2022 (ages 16) and Campbell in 2024 (aged 14). Ritchie found it difficult being in his own and his stays with Sue meant he had other dogs to be with. We have recently moved out of the area and one of the things we will miss most is Aunty Sue who over the years has not only looked after and cared for The Boys but became a friend too. Sue and Stuart thank you so much for the past 15 years, from Anne and Sodi and most of all from The Boys xxx
Our dog Reggie has been going to Board with Sue now for over 3 years and he loves his stays! Stuart also walks Reggie up to 3 times a week which Reggie is delighted about. Sue has been wonderful to Reggie, as he is far from an easy dog and not many people would cope with him however - they are both so caring and patient with him. When we go away we know he is well cared for and in capable hands. When situations have arisen - both have Sue and Stuart have given tremendous support. Would highly recommend Croft Pets.
I have been using Croft Pets (Sue) for quite some time and have absolutely no hesitation in providing this positive review. Both my dogs love going out with Sue and staying in her home. Sue is professional and and provides a fab service which is very much valued by me and my dogs. Thank you!
Sue is very reliable and has great communication. Very trustworthy with our two dogs who she visits regularly for us. It’s a relief knowing they get their mid-day wander!
Thank you so much Sue, for always taking great care of our cat while we are away, it is lovely for him to be able to stay in his home and be comfortable rather than going to a cattery. Everything is kept clean and tidy for us when we get back. You always manage to fit us in even a last minute break at Christmas - Thank you 😊

I recently did a webinar with Yvonne on Fireworks and collies. Yvonne was very helpful and full of advice which I am going to try with my own collie.
First-class! Yvonne’s support in helping us begin to desensitise our adorable but nervous little Collie girl, is wonderful. Less than a week into the process, and she is already less reactive to some of the trigger sounds that were just changing her personality in a heart-beat, (including fireworks, the noise of young children playing, and alarms). So distressing for us, and Yvonne’s pragmatic, personalised approach has given us real optimism that we can make this little dog’s life even more complete. I’m very impressed.
I joined a Fireworks webinar with Yvonne in early August 2025 which was scheduled several months before Bonfire Night to enable us to use the tools she gave us to work with well ahead of the night itself. Yvonne gave generously of her time during the webinar and since then has provided materials for us to use. We can also contact her for ongoing support, if required. Thank you, Yvonne.
Wonderful trainer! Kind, patient, and effective with positive reinforcement. Highly recommend 🐾
Just shared a very interesting presentation by Yvonne, The Collie Whisperer. This lady obviously knows dogs, and especially collies, very well. Yvonne has provided a programme to follow to desensitise my collie before bonfire night. It sounds fairly easy to follow 🤞. I’ll start tomorrow. Thanks Yvonne

Delighted with Albies groom, would highly recommend.
This was our cockapoo Bella's first visit to Paws & Peaks. We moved house recently and she was a few weeks late for her groom but Lynn Fraser did a lovely job and Bella looks amazing. Have already booked her next two appointments. Would definitely recommend Paws and Peaks.

Finding a qualified dog trainer in Beauly means connecting with professionals who understand the unique demands of rural Highland life and the beautiful landscapes surrounding this historic village. From training working dogs on local estates to socialising family pets for adventures around the Beauly Firth and Glen Affric, our experienced trainer delivers personalised obedience training, behaviour modification, and puppy programmes suited to Highland conditions.
Serving Beauly and surrounding areas including Kirkhill, Kiltarlity, Struy, and Cannich, we've successfully trained dogs across the Highlands for over 8 years. Our expertise addresses the specific needs of Highland dog ownership, from managing livestock distraction to ensuring recall reliability in expansive open countryside.
Beauly's rural Highland setting presents distinct training requirements shaped by working farmland, extensive forests, and abundant wildlife. The proximity to sheep farms, deer populations in Glen Affric, and protected bird habitats means dogs require exceptional recall and livestock awareness training. Our trainer specialises in preparing dogs for Highland life, including desensitisation to farm machinery, wildlife scents, and the challenges of changeable Scottish weather.
With many Beauly residents enjoying outdoor pursuits from hill walking to stalking, dogs need reliable off-lead control in remote areas. We understand local requirements including Scottish Outdoor Access Code compliance, ensuring your dog can explore responsibly while respecting farming communities and wildlife. Training addresses the realities of rural living, from travelling in Land Rovers to settling calmly during local events like Beauly Sheepdog Trials.
Our puppy programmes build solid foundations for Highland life, introducing young dogs to farm environments, wildlife scents, livestock at safe distances, and varied terrain from forestry tracks to riverbanks. Training covers essential commands, recall reliability, and developing confidence around the unique stimuli found in rural Scotland, preventing future issues with sheep chasing or deer distraction.
Specialist training for dogs living near working farms addresses livestock distraction, teaching reliable recall around sheep and cattle. We work in controlled environments near Beauly, progressively building focus and obedience despite the strong instincts many breeds have toward livestock, essential for responsible countryside access and maintaining positive farming community relations.
For working breeds and gundogs, we provide specialist training including retrieving, steadiness, and field work suited to Highland sporting estates. Training develops the discipline and skills required for working alongside handlers in challenging terrain, whether for rough shooting, picking-up, or beating on local estates around the Beauly area.
Dog training in Beauly typically ranges from £35-60 per hour for private sessions, with packages offering better value. Specialist gundog or livestock training may cost £45-70 per session. Initial consultations are often offered at reduced rates, with mobile services covering Beauly and surrounding villages at no additional charge within a 15-mile radius.
Yes, livestock awareness training is essential in rural areas like Beauly. Using positive reinforcement and controlled exposure, we teach dogs reliable recall and focus around sheep and cattle. Most dogs show significant improvement within 6-10 sessions, though some breeds with strong herding or chasing instincts may require longer programmes. Training ensures safe countryside access and prevents distressing livestock incidents.
Begin training immediately when bringing your puppy home around 8 weeks old. Early exposure to Highland environments during the 8-16 week socialisation window helps develop confident, well-adjusted dogs. This includes gradual introduction to farm animals, wildlife scents, rough terrain, and weather conditions. However, dogs of any age benefit from training, and adult dogs can successfully learn livestock awareness and improved recall.
Professional dog training in Beauly creates confident, well-behaved companions suited to Highland living. From establishing puppy foundations to developing reliable livestock awareness, expert guidance ensures your dog can safely enjoy the spectacular countryside while respecting farming communities and wildlife. Whether you're in Beauly village or surrounding areas like Struy or Cannich, investing in professional training builds the reliable partnership essential for rural life. Contact us today to discuss your dog's training needs and discover how we can help you achieve a perfectly trained Highland companion.
