Kim is an excellent dog trainer and has helped us significantly over the years with issues with our rescue dogs She can read the dog and situation so well and provides an excellent programme of changed behaviours (mainly by us) to help our dogs have their best life I can’t recommend her highly enough
Kim is absolutely fantastic! She really understands your dog. Kim noticed the problem straight away and was open and honest with us about what causes Roxie's reactions. We gave the new routine 100%, and within 48 hours, we already saw a change in our girl. Not only is Kim a fantastic dog trainer, but she is also easy to get along with, and you know you are getting the truth from her. We are so looking forward to continuing our training with her, and we know she really has our dogs' best interests at heart.
Absolutely thrilled with the service from Kim . She came to me for a 3 hour session ( which lasted 4) to help with my recently acquired 2 1/2 year old sibling Poodles. The main problem , which started to develop after 6 weeks with me , was reactivity to others dogs. We still have a way to go but I’m amazed at the progress so far , sound, sensible advice from a clearly very knowledgeable lady . So happy I found her 👍
Kim clearly understands dog behaviour and is very effective at diagnosing specific issues. Our 2 dogs are very different and Kim tailors strategies to their individual needs. We highly recommend Kim who goes above and beyond what is expected of her, taking extra time if needed and making follow up calls/texts to check on progress, such is her passion for finding a solution. We are really pleased that we found Kim to help us out and have seen much improvement because of her advice.
Kim came to see us and our young cockerpoo for 1-2-1 training recently to advise on lead training and general obedience. We are very pleased with the results and know that it is up to us to keep going with the ‘homework’ she gave us! Thank you Kim!

I cannot recommend Tom and Sharne highly enough. I have two Dobermans (aged 4 and 6) who, due to a change in my personal circumstances, had not received the training or boundaries they needed. When they came to live with me in March this year, I was unable to take them out at all — they were extremely reactive to other dogs, constantly barking and trying to get to them, even when walking in a secure field. My 6-year-old girl in particular is very sensitive and anxious, and I really wanted to give them the best chance of becoming part of the family. I found Tom and Sharne and decided to send both dogs to their four-week boot camp — and I can honestly say they have worked miracles. Both dogs are now so much more relaxed, especially my girl. They can walk calmly next to other dogs without reacting, and they are able to settle and relax even when dogs are nearby. For the first time, I can confidently take them out myself and continue the great work Tom and Sharne have done. The support didn’t end at the boot camp either. They gave us a detailed handover, were incredibly helpful and adaptable throughout, and reassured me that they are there if I need any guidance going forward. My Dobermans are not only calmer and happier, but they also look fantastic — they were overweight before, and now they’ve toned up and look exactly as a healthy Doberman should. It’s clear how much care and love Tom and Sharne gave them — I can see the bond they built, and I know my dogs were very well looked after. I will definitely be booking with them again whenever I need to go away.
I dropped my beagle off to Vislor kennels when we went away on holiday and they were fabulous. Sharne was very professional, good communication and sent me some updates too when I was on holiday. Milo seemed to of have the best time and he’s been knackered since he’s been home too so they’ve well and truly spoilt him and kept him very busy! I will 100% be using these guys again very shortly whenever I need overnight care again! So easy and so chill throughout the whole process! Thanks guys xx
We sent Max (pur 10 month old Patterjack) to Tom and Sharne after several other trainers struggled to help him. Max was incredibly reactive to everything when out on walks, barking at most things and pulling hard on the lead. Tom and Sharne had Max for 3 weeks and the we cannot believe the difference in Max since collecting him. He walks by our side now, no barking and we can take him to busy areas without any concern or worry. We had regular updates throughout the 3 weeks from them both including photos and videos of Max and he was clearly well looked after and has formed a strong bond with Tom after his time there. They also offering boarding so if we ever need to board Max we will 100% be sending him here as they were absolutely brilliant with him. Thanks so much Tom & Sharne!
Approached Sharne and Tom for support for our boy Murphy to help better manage his anxiety which made him reactive and lack of attention in his walks. 3 weeks in residential training and the effect has been huge. First walk back with him today after getting him home, walks to heel and past dogs running up to him with no bother - now is the time for us to put their hard work into more practice but it’s made walking him so much more enjoyable and he is far more relaxed. Couldn’t recommend highly enough and worth every penny!

Had a great first session! I was worried my dog was to naughty to be trained 😂 but she took to it straight away. She was like a new dog within 10 minutes. Very impressed with the techniques used and the outcome👍🏽 Highly recommend
Sean was amazing and helped out very much, I’m from Leicester and I highly recommend him to anyone needing any help with their dogs.
Sean has been a great help with my 3 year old Coton de Tulear and advice and guidance he has given me on how to work with Peggy ,she gone from a very nervous reactive dog on lead to a much calmer dog that is improving everyday .
Had a one hour online session with Sean and it was really enjoyable and made a difference before we'd finished! Would highly recommend! Sean had previously contacted me to ask what problems we were having, and tailored the session around those. First we started with the basics of WHY the dog is doing what they do, things to avoid doing which exacerbate the problem. Finally he walked us through the way to correct the dogs, helping us with technique and commands, correcting how we completed it and offering further tips for problematic scenarios. Even after the hour, the dogs were listening to commands and accepting the corrections better, not perfect but after an hour it made a huge difference! Now to put it into consistent practice!
Sean gave us a correction technique to use to help us to minimise hard puppy biting and jumping. He also advised us on dog psychology and nutrition. We are extremely pleased with the recommendation of the food company. Our puppy loves the food they provide. Life with the puppy is now much improved. Thank you.

Serving all areas including Boulton, Crewton, and Alvaston village centre, we've successfully trained over 850 dogs across the DE24 postcode area in recent years. Alvaston presents distinct training requirements shaped by its mix of residential estates, accessible green spaces, and proximity to Derby city centre. The area's popular walking locations including Alvaston Park and the riverside paths along the Derwent provide excellent training environments, but also mean dogs encounter numerous other canines daily, making proper socialisation and recall training essential for safe, enjoyable walks.
Our trainers specialise in addressing Alvaston-specific challenges including traffic desensitisation along busy London Road and Shardlow Road, adapting to semi-detached and terraced housing with shared boundaries, and building confidence around the diverse activities at Elvaston Castle Country Park. We understand local transport links and community expectations, ensuring your dog becomes a well-mannered neighbourhood resident who's welcome throughout Derby's eastern suburbs.
We provide comprehensive dog training services throughout Alvaston, covering the entire DE24 postcode area. Our trainers regularly work near key locations including Alvaston Park, Pride Park Stadium, Elvaston Castle, and along the Derwent Valley Heritage Way. We serve communities throughout Boulton Moor, across residential streets near Alvaston Community Centre, and within neighbourhoods surrounding the Meadows and Sinfin areas, bringing professional training directly to your doorstep with appointments typically scheduled within 48 hours.
Our puppy programmes focus on building solid foundations during the crucial 8-16 week socialisation period. We introduce young dogs to Alvaston's environment systematically, including traffic noise, park activities, and the various surfaces found throughout local estates. Training covers house training, crate training, bite inhibition, and essential commands, with controlled socialisation sessions helping puppies develop confidence around other dogs and people in community spaces.
Our behaviour modification programmes address leash reactivity on pavements and estate pathways, barrier frustration, fear-based responses, and resource guarding. Using positive reinforcement and systematic desensitisation, we help dogs learn calm responses to triggers encountered during daily walks, gradually building tolerance and replacing problematic behaviours with focus and self-control.
For dogs progressing beyond basics, our advanced training develops reliable off-lead control for safely enjoying Alvaston Park and nearby open spaces. We build strong recall despite distractions including wildlife, other dogs, and park activities, incorporating distance commands and advanced lead work suitable for navigating both quiet residential streets and busier areas near Pride Park.
Dog training in Alvaston typically ranges from £35-65 per hour for private sessions, with package deals offering better value at £220-450 for 6-8 week programmes. Group classes generally cost £10-18 per session, while comprehensive puppy courses average £140-250. Mobile training services throughout the DE24 area mean no additional travel costs for home visits.
Puppy training should begin immediately when you bring your dog home, usually around 8 weeks old. The critical socialisation window between 8-16 weeks makes early exposure to Alvaston's environment crucial. However, dogs of all ages benefit from training—adult dogs and rescue dogs can learn new behaviours regardless of their history.
Alvaston Park offers excellent open spaces for training, while the riverside paths along the Derwent provide distraction training opportunities. Quieter residential streets work well for lead training, and nearby Elvaston Castle Country Park offers varied environments. Our trainers utilise these locations strategically based on your dog's training stage and specific needs.
