Brilliant First Aid Course - possibly the best one that I have ever attended. Will definitely recommend to others. The course leaders awareness and inclusion of everyone in the room was outstanding.
Attended the dog first aid course. Great content and came away more knowledgeable and confident to deal with a situation with my own or someone else's dog.
Great course delivered by an enthusiastic and knowledgeable trainer.
I had an absolutely excellent first aid training session yesterday! The instructor (and assistant) were incredibly knowledgeable and engaging, making topics easy to understand and remember. The balance of theory and practical exercises was perfect, giving me confidence in applying what I learned. I feel much better prepared to handle emergencies now. Highly recommend this training to everyone!
Completed the emergency first aid for dogs course which was amazing! So insightful and so many useful tools and tips. I’m a dog walker and this course made me feel more confident going forward to act in an emergency, I would 100% recommend for anyone who works with dogs or owns one.🌟

First time taking our dog here. Was easy to find and easy parking. There was water & bowls provided for your dog and poo bags & hand sanitiser. Plenty of seats too for the owners. Our dog had a great time running about. Owners met us at the park as it was our first time and were very friendly and explained everything to us. Will definitely be back.
Great place to take the dogs
This is a great experience for any dog it’s clean and the dogs love it it’s also very inexpensive a real bargain
Excellent facility. Reasonably priced and easy to book

Freddie had the best time at Barkwrights when we were away on holiday. I would highly recommend. Lots of outdoor spaces to explore and play, Freddie was looked after like part of the family. Thank you
I can not recommend Vanya-Louise enough, me and Buddy have been working with Vanya-Louise on a one to one basis for a few weeks and every session is tailored to Buddy's needs. Never underestimate the bond that training gives you and your pup, I'm more confident now and am appreciating all Buddy's small but real life wins! It's a journey and we are having soo much fun, thank you Vanya-Louise xx
We have just finished a block of 3 sessions with Vanya-Louise. Toto absolutley loved it! As did we! Can’t recommend highly enough!
I can't recommend Barkwright puppy classes highly enough. Vanya is an excellent trainer and gives individual tailored advice, ensuring that each pup is set up for success.
Amazing classes and couldn't recommend Vanya-Louise enough! Our dog attended both puppy and junior classes, and it's honestly been such a good thing for him, not only for nailing the basic behaviours, but for socialisation him too! Highly recommend!

Excellent! Learnt so much about my dog, Denise is great. Thanks again from Louise, Chris and Barry.
We wanted to give a huge shoutout to Denise , who worked absolute magic with our 4-year-old Cavapoo, Molly. Before working with Denise, Molly was a nervous pup, especially around other dogs, and walks had become more stressful than enjoyable. Over 4 training sessions, Denise helped Molly feel calmer and more confident. She not only taught Molly how to manage her interactions, but also gave us the tools to support her in the right way. The difference has been incredible—Molly is now enjoying her walks again, sniffing, tail wagging and all! Seeing her happy, relaxed, and her playful self again has been such a joy. If you're looking for a patient, kind, and truly skilled trainer, Denise is the one. We can't thank her enough!
Denise ‘gets’ dogs. Patient, positive reinforcement, techniques that work.
We had a great 6 weeks! Couldn’t recommend more highly.

Just finished a 10 week puppy course and it was absolutely superb. Alex and Amy are brilliant. The course covers loads of practical work but also equally important insight into how your dog thinks and what he or she needs from you. I would highly recommend this course to anyone with a new pup.
Such a fantastic way to learn how you and your puppy think! Such brilliant training for both owners and dogs. Alex applies common sense and principles to teaching you and your pup how to behave and learn from each other. Can’t recommend highly enough. 👍
Just finished a 8week puppy class with Alex and Amy. After going back to having a pup I was nervous and felt overwhelmed however they made the course both enjoyable, easy to follow and achieved goals set. Arthur learned so much as did I and he’s gone on leaps and bounds. Thank you both and knowing you’re always at the end of a phone means so much. Highly recommended xx
Finding qualified dog trainers in Westhill means connecting with professionals who understand the unique needs of this thriving Aberdeenshire town. Whether you're training a new puppy near Westhill Shopping Centre, managing reactive behaviour on walks around Westdyke Leisure Centre, or teaching recall in the surrounding countryside, our certified trainers deliver personalised obedience training and behaviour modification programmes tailored to local conditions.
Serving all areas including Westhill town centre, Arnhall, Kingshill, and surrounding communities, we've successfully trained over 850 dogs across the area in recent years. Our expertise addresses the challenges of dog ownership in this growing commuter town, from navigating the busy Straik Road to enjoying off-lead exercise in nearby woodland walks and the Westhill paths network.
Westhill presents specific training requirements shaped by its semi-rural character and proximity to Aberdeen. The town's excellent network of paths and green spaces provides ideal training environments, but also means dogs regularly encounter walkers, cyclists, and other dogs. Proper socialisation and reliable recall training are essential for safe countryside walks and town centre navigation.
Many Westhill residents commute to Aberdeen for work, requiring dogs that can cope confidently with being left during the day and adapt to varied routines. Our trainers specialise in addressing separation anxiety, building independence, and creating calm household behaviour. We understand local considerations including wildlife encounters on countryside walks, vehicle traffic along main routes like the A944, and the social dynamics at popular dog-walking locations around Westhill.
Our puppy programmes focus on early socialisation during the crucial 8-16 week period. We introduce young dogs to Westhill's environment including traffic noise, various walking surfaces, and countryside distractions. Training covers house training, crate training for working households, bite inhibition, and essential commands. Controlled socialisation helps puppies develop confidence around other dogs and people, preventing future behavioural issues.
Our behaviour modification programmes address leash reactivity on town paths, fear-based responses, and aggression issues. Using positive reinforcement techniques, we help dogs learn calm responses to triggers encountered on daily walks. Progressive training builds tolerance gradually, replacing unwanted behaviours with focus and self-control even in stimulating environments.
For countryside access, reliable recall is essential. Our advanced training develops off-lead control despite distractions including wildlife, livestock, and other dogs. Training incorporates distance commands and emergency stops, ensuring dogs respond reliably in open spaces while owners maintain complete confidence during countryside walks.
Dog training in Westhill typically ranges from £35-65 per hour for private sessions, with package deals offering better value at £240-450 for 6-8 week programmes. Group classes generally cost £10-18 per session, while puppy courses average £120-220. Prices reflect the local market with trainers offering mobile services throughout Westhill and surrounding areas.
Begin training immediately when bringing your puppy home around 8 weeks old. The critical socialisation window between 8-16 weeks makes early exposure to Westhill's environment essential. Puppies can join group classes after initial vaccinations at approximately 10-12 weeks, though dogs of any age benefit from professional training.
Reputable trainers should hold recognised qualifications from organisations such as the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers, Association of Pet Dog Trainers UK, or equivalent professional bodies. Look for trainers using positive reinforcement methods based on current animal behaviour science, with local experience understanding Westhill's specific training environments and challenges.
Professional dog training in Westhill creates well-adjusted companions suited to both town and countryside living. Our proven methods combine evidence-based techniques with local knowledge, ensuring your dog thrives in this vibrant Aberdeenshire community.
