We've learnt so much about dog training through HoundPlus and would highly recommend using them. The team really know what they are talking about! We especially love the Sunday social walks, Raffy has a great time playing with the other dogs and we feel safe knowing we are around like-minded people that want to train their dogs in the same way.
Nick is an awesome trainer, very realistic, honest and super patient in explaining complex things in easy to understand ways. Great at adapting to different types of dogs and owners, too. Would recommend to anyone!
We've learnt so much from Nick and the rest of the trainers at HoundPlus. Having the option to chose the type of training we like or mix it up with the different types of classes available means we get to try new things and constantly learn new skills. Our confidence continues to increase when training with our dog and when out and about thanks to the support we have recieved both in and out of class. The trainers all clearly love and understand dogs and make sure you understand why and how to train. Most importantly our dog adores Nick and Livvy and the other trainers, he gets very excited when we go to classes and he just keeps impressing us in how well he does. Finally the app is so easy to use and book classes which just makes planning so easy. Im really glad we chose HoundPlus when we got our puppy and a year later we are still loving attending training each week.
Nick and the gang are the best! Definitely would recommend for anyone who is new with dog owning or if you just want to learn more! We love their chilled out approach and crazy amounts of knowledge! Our little boy, Donnie, has built amazing confidence and Nick helped us to further our bond. We will be using all the guys at HoundPlus indefinitely ♥️

We had a great experience with Iwona. Her holistic and thoughtful approach really made a difference to my dog’s behaviour and confidence. Iwona took time to understand my dog’s needs and behaviour patterns to translate them into a structured training plan. My dog is young, excitable and full of energy, but she knew exactly how to work with that - using calm, clear guidance and positive methods. The training made a real difference to his engagement with me and his skills have grown noticeably over a relatively short time. Thoroughly recommended!
We cannot recommend this amazing dog trainer in Bristol highly enough. Our adolescent Labrador was boisterous, excitable, and increasingly difficult to manage. Walks were stressful, guests were greeted with chaos, and daily life was becoming a challenge. We had already tried working with another trainer, but the results were limited and inconsistent. Then we found Iwona and everything changed. From the first consultation, her depth of knowledge, professionalism, and genuine dedication to helping both dogs and owners was clear. She created a personalised training plan tailored to our dog’s needs, energy levels, and temperament. Each training session was engaging, fun, and incredibly productive, not just for our Labrador, but for us as owners too. What truly sets her apart is the consistent support she provides between sessions. The weekly voice check-ins were a lifeline, offering encouragement, troubleshooting advice, and reassurance. No question ever felt too small, and her ability to explain behaviour in a way we could easily understand made such a difference. The progress in our dog’s behaviour has gone far beyond our expectations. He’s more focused, calmer, and finally understands what’s being asked of him. Walks are now enjoyable, visitors are welcomed calmly, and our bond with him is stronger than ever. We’re so grateful to have found someone who is not only a skilled professional but also incredibly passionate and supportive. Without a doubt, she is the best trainer we’ve ever worked with. We're lucky to have her!
Iwona was so great with our high energy puppy, she's given us the tools to help with training and we're seeing such a difference! Can't recommend highly enough.
Iwona is an amazing dog trainer. She helped us to learn how to engage better and build better habits with our rescue dog Marshall. She makes training sessions fun and Marshall absolutely adores her. We learned how to encourage our dog to focus on us around distractions using positive reinforcement. She regularly checked in with us between sessions and thought us a lot about dog behaviour. Marshall's training is still a work in progress but he is improving continuously since we have started to train with Iwona.
Iwona is an excellent trainer. We had a 1:1 package and are really happy with the result. We got great advice and practical work with our puppy, who is well on the way to becoming a model citizen dog!

We've been making great progress working with Debs. Ben Es reactivity is slowly but surely improving and he is much calmer overall. Debs explains things really clearly and is very patient. We've done 1:1s and group classes and I would recommend both!
We have been going to puppy classes then Hoopers for the last few years. Deb is welcoming, friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and has been so good for my very nervous cocker spaniel with her calm and caring approach. We have learnt so much, Can't recommend her enough.
Debs is a knowledgeable and patient trainer - of humans and animals! Her vast knowledge and quirky sense of humour enabled us to build our confidence with Alfie, our Cocker Spaniel. Debs helped us from the very beginning when Alfie was 10 weeks old and over a year later we’re still enjoying our dog classes and seeing results every week. Debs is really skilled in explaining behaviour from a dog’s perspective so when Alfie starts to develop annoying habits, she explains why that is happening from the dog’s perspective and how we to train the behaviour we want instead. Thoroughly and wholeheartedly recommend this wonderful person
Monty loves the Hoopers class and Deb. He is a working labrador and this shows as he finds it fun to race through Hoops and around Barrels on direction from us, he has to use his brain to work out what we need him to do. This class has really helped him to stay more focussed on us when he is out walking which is of great benefit and gives us more control. Keep up the good work Deb.

Great puppy class learnt so much, now we are continuing with classes in Canford Park. I didn’t have the confidence to let our puppy of the lead, but I do now with Sarah’s help. Sarah has not only trained our dog but also us. Enjoy every session!
We were helped by Sarah for our last dog Bartie 15 years ago, so it was a no brainer to sign up again for our pup Monty. I was particularly struck with how she's developed new ways to help train the pups to have fun with their owners and learn the important skills to keep them safe both on and off the lead. We've signed up for the follow on classes in Canford park as we thought it was important for Monty to learn in the places where we need him to be safe. We can't recommend her enough!
Sarah's classes are a wonderful resource for early puppyhood and beyond. Each session involves hands-on work with your dog, covering all the basics -- from commands to lead walking to settling and more. As a trainer, Sarah is a nice blend of straightforward/practical and warm/knowledgeable. Plus, it's nice to be in a room with other owners who are going through the same ups and downs!
We went to Puppy and Puppy Plus classes with Sarah, we had a great time and learned a lot on dog training and expectations. Our puppy really enjoyed going to the classes. I would reccomend.
I did the 5 week puppy course with Mutleys and really recommend it. Sarah is kind, practical and very knowledgeable. The classes cover lots of important ground, and Sarah was also incredibly helpful and reassuring when I needed a bit of help via email between classes. The thing I liked best about the class is how committed Sarah is to the dogs' wellbeing. We finished classes a couple of weeks ago, and I've continued to work on training using the things I've learned from Sarah. I've seen huge improvements in the area that I found hardest (lead walking!). A bit of advice - the classes are intense, so make sure you don't plan anything for afterwards! You and your puppy will both need some time to decompress.

Michelle was great, really understanding. Robin was at a point where walking her was unbearable and with persistents and Michells help she has improved immensely.
Hello my name is Ri and my caring calm human found me at Holly Hedge Dog Sanctuary Bristol. I have been with my human for 3 years but lately life has been like a roller coaster and my anxiety has become more intense. I experience, anxiety in all areas of my life from meeting new humans to having a strange thing called a lead that is attached to me when I go out for walks ! I also don't like to leave my caring calm human and can't imagine what her day would be without me ! My human decided to introduce in my home to a lady called Michelle Lorde.IMAGINE THAT ! I met Michelle and she felt very safe to be around . Michelle showed my human new skills to help me be more brave around people who enter my home. Michelle came up with lots of solutions to help me overcome my anxiety. After my time with Michelle I am starting to feel a lot better and would like to say thank you to Michelle for all her hard work and support. I would definitely recommend Michelle to hang out with you to help overcome the complexities of the human world.
Michelle has been a huge help with our dachshund. Rolo had developed resource guarding issues from a pup which we think was due to him being hand reared (mum had mastitis and pups couldn’t feed together and learn to share) Michelle helped us to understand why Rolo reacted the way he did and also gave us advice on how to manage this. I think managing his anxiety will be ongoing but with Michelle’s help we feel much more well equipped to help Rolo be a happier dog. I highly recommend Michelle - she is very reassuring and supportive and does not ever make you feel like you are at fault. She understands dogs behaviour and explains why they react in certain ways and how to overcome it. If you have any concerns about your dog then Michelle is the person to turn to.
Michelle is briliant. We had terrible problems from the beginning with our cocker spaniel Missy . She was becoming more and more aggressive and and had bitten me quite seriously on several occasions. I had decided to have her put to sleep but that wasn't an easy option. We took her to the vets and explained the situation and they gave me the names of some dog behaviourists in our area. We chose Michelle and she was wonderful. Michelle understood exactly what the problem was almost at once and advised us on how we dealt with it. This was in November 2018. The results were almost immediate. It is now May 2021 and she really is a lovely dog. Missy will never be a dog I can trust completely but by following certain precautions the bitting has stopped. She is very possessive with stolen things but we have learnt how to deal with her The rest of the time she is a joy to have. She loves people and is perfectly safe around dogs and cats. She as never bitten anyone else. We are very grateful to Michelle because through her we still have our dog because despite everything we love her to bits
Michelle is a fantastic dog trainer and behaviour specialist. She worked with us and our rescue dog Archi over 12 months. She is brilliant at holistically reviewing the struggles and troubles you may be having and she gives a huge amount of support to dog and human alike. Simple and clear advice was the norm; which allowed us to make some much needed progress for Archi, who suffered from anxiety and the city life. We would throughly recommend her to anyone. Thank you again Michelle!
Finding qualified dog trainers in St George means connecting with professionals who understand the unique lifestyle of this scenic Utah community. From training puppies to explore the stunning red rock trails to managing reactive dogs in busy areas near St George Boulevard, our certified trainers deliver personalised obedience training, behaviour modification, and puppy socialisation programmes designed for desert living. Serving the 84770, 84790, and 84791 zip codes, we've successfully trained over 1,800 dogs across Washington County, helping them thrive in this active outdoor community.
St George presents distinctive training challenges shaped by its desert climate, outdoor recreation culture, and rapid growth. The area's extreme summer heat requires early morning and evening training schedules, while the abundance of hiking trails at Snow Canyon State Park and Red Cliffs Desert Reserve demands exceptional recall and wildlife awareness. With popular destinations like Town Square Park and Vernon Worthen Park attracting numerous dogs daily, proper socialisation ensures harmonious interactions throughout the community.
Our trainers specialise in desert-specific skills including snake avoidance, heat safety awareness, and trail etiquette essential for enjoying St George's 300 days of annual sunshine. We understand local regulations for off-leash areas and prepare dogs for the diverse environments they'll encounter, from the busy Sunset Corner shopping district to peaceful residential neighborhoods in Bloomington Hills and the Green Valley area.
Our puppy programmes focus on the critical 8-16 week socialisation period, introducing young dogs to St George's unique environment including desert sounds, various terrain types, and appropriate heat management. Training covers house training, crate training, bite inhibition, and essential commands, with controlled socialisation at locations like Little Valley Trailhead and J.C. Snow Park building confidence around other dogs, cyclists, and hikers.
For active St George residents, we develop rock-solid recall essential for safely enjoying local trails. Training incorporates wildlife distraction work, distance commands, and trail manners suitable for popular areas like Gooseberry Mesa and Red Hills Desert Garden. Dogs learn to navigate desert terrain, respond reliably despite lizards and jackrabbits, and maintain focus even in stimulating outdoor environments.
Our behaviour modification addresses leash reactivity common on busy trails and residential streets. Using positive reinforcement and systematic desensitisation, we help dogs learn calm responses to triggers encountered at Riverside Drive paths or Sunset Boulevard sidewalks, building tolerance gradually and replacing reactive behaviours with appropriate focus.
Dog training in St George typically ranges from £35-65 per hour for private sessions, with package deals averaging £250-450 for 6-8 week programmes. Group classes cost £10-18 per session, while specialised outdoor training may run £50-75 per session due to the unique desert environment and trail access requirements.
Begin training immediately when bringing your puppy home around 8 weeks old. The 8-16 week socialisation window is critical for exposure to St George's desert environment, heat conditions, and outdoor lifestyle. Puppies can join classes after initial vaccinations at 10-12 weeks, though dogs of any age benefit from professional training.
Yes, many St George trainers offer rattlesnake avoidance training, which is highly recommended given the desert environment. This specialised training teaches dogs to recognise and avoid snakes through positive interruption methods, providing essential safety for dogs hiking local trails where rattlesnakes are present, particularly during warmer months from April through October.
Professional dog training in St George creates confident companions ready for this community's outdoor-focused lifestyle. Our programmes combine proven techniques with deep understanding of desert living, ensuring your dog safely enjoys everything from morning hikes at Pioneer Park to evening walks through Ancestor Square. Whether you're in Santa Clara, Washington, or downtown St George, investing in professional training provides the foundation for years of adventures together in Utah's stunning red rock country.
