Excellent Puppy and Bronze training with my lively sprocker spaniel. Helpful and very friendly staff
Really enjoyed our sessions . Leo got a lot out of the time and my husband and I would thoroughly recommend the training course.
I highly recommend South Coast Dog training. Louise has a great depth of knowledge and experience in a wide range of training and behavioural situations. Albie and I enjoy going to her classes.
I am delighted to have found this training school for my very bouncy Labrador. He completely loves going to the class and it has given him a frame of reference that takes the stress out of everyday outings. Fantastic results and a very happy dog. Thank-you Louise!
Great instructors, very friendly, small group - practically one-to-one - def recommend

Joana has been so helpful. My dog loved her and she has helped me immensely over just 3 sessions. I have learnt a lot which I will continue to use with my cheeky puppy /teenager . She gave me lots of great tips and advice as well If you are looking for a friendly, knowledgeable dog trainer , then Joana is your girl
Joana is brilliant! Very flexible, knowledgeable and friendly. We had some issues with a rehomed 6yr old dog and the change in just a few sessions has been remarkable. Milo absolutely loves the sessions and Joana is always available should we have questions between sessions.
Joana is a dog genius. She’s been working with our very challenging puppy Milo for several months now, and the difference she has made to our relationship with him is fantastic. We’ve learned so much, and Milo loves nothing more than when she comes round!
We contacted Joana to get some help with helping to socialise our dog and cat, our dog was very vocal and wanted to chase our cat constantly. With Joana’s help, she taught us simple techniques to rewrite those behaviours with positive reinforcement training. It has taken a lot of time and patience but the training has really paid off and now we have confidence that our pets feel more confident and safe around each other. Joana was very professional, friendly and has such a great wealth of knowledge and experience. We are very grateful for all the guidance and would not hesitate to recommend Muddy Trails to anyone in need of help training their dog (or cat!)
I got in touch with Joana through a recommendation for help with my puppies frustration reactivity. Joana has been amazing in giving me tips and on how to approach things in a friendly and manageable way. I am now more confident in my approach on what to do and have seen massive improvements in my dogs behaviour. Would 100% recommend Joana to anyone looking for help with their dogs.

Beth was great with my puppy, he came home happy and content and clearly had a nice time. Beth sent me lots of videos and pictures and reassured me as was the longest I’ve left him.
Beth is the loveliest person nothing is ever any bother, my dog absolutely loves her and going on walks with her she’s amazing, reasonably priced compared to most other dog walkers! Highly recommend her services to anyone who has a dog ☺️
I honestly don't know what I'd do without Beth - our fairy dogmother! My dog always enjoys her walks with Beth and is always extremely happy to see her. Beth has so much experience with dogs and I know my dog is in really good hands. If you need a dog walker then I would really recommend you contact Beth 🙂!
Great service my dog loves the time he spends with Beth and I know he’s safe and happy.
My dog loves her walks with Beth and the other dogs she takes to her paddock. She is very knowledgeable about animals and sends pictures of the walks everyday!

Lisa is awesome. We are part way through training our Labrador puppy with her and already the difference is night and day. She genuinely seems to just ‘know’ how to tackle each situation. 5/5 an outstanding experience! 🐶
We were struggling with Ben's high levels of fear & MY lack of confidence when walking him. Lisa has shown us how to read Ben's body language, to advocate for him when around other dogs (he's very submissive) & given ME much more confidence. I couldn't believe how much less anxious he is if I'm more relaxed/confident when walking him. Lisa's so down to earth & just put us at ease the minute we spoke to her on the phone. She is always there if you need help with any issues. I really like her training methods which help form a strong bond with dog & owner 🐾🤗🐾
Lisa is very easy to talk to and really explains the reasoning behind the different training techniques used. My dog really struggled on walks with pulling as well as reacting to people and other dogs. After just 2 session with Lisa and using her advice in every walk I have already seen such a positive change, it’s almost like walking a different dog.
Lisa is down to earth, telling it how it is, reassuring and calming influence on my partner and I and our dog. Her influence has led us to success with our dog, Mika, and her training. When we contacted her, we were filled with anxieties around having a new dog who was showing a lot of anxiety herself after being rehomed with us. Lisa guided us through, she is always available, and always happy to give advice. We would not be where we are now, without her. Thank you Lisa. We look forward to continuing our journey with you!
Lisa's passion for dogs is palpable and that alone makes the training sessions worthwhile. In the short amount of time that Lisa has been helping us, we've made some incredible progress covering a breadth of topics, allowing us to understand how our dog's behaviour and routine at home can impact his reactivity towards other dogs when out walking. As we continue to learn, Lisa offers support and information which is proving to be invaluable.

I took my timid, small Australian Labradoodle to Tracy for her first Holistic Groom. We had already visited prior to this, so she could feel comfortable in the room, which was so relaxing and filled with calming scent and therapeutic music Tracy was amazing with her and the cut was just as I’d asked, there was even time for a play in the back garden, before I collected her. Tracy is so caring and passionate about everything she does and it’s very reassuring to know Millie is in her capable hands 🐾
Thank you so much for Marnie’s spa day & beautiful groom. Marnie smelt gorgeous and was definitely a pampered pooch. Thank you also for her little accessory on her collar 🥹🫶🏽 You’re the best! 🐾🤍
Gwennie had been home groomed for a while as she is rather nervous with people touching her paws and face. I opted for Henry & me as Tracey specialises in nervous dogs. Gwennie was also rather knotty so I was also rather nervous taking her. Tracey was amazing, calm, relaxing and so loving. We had a meet and explore first then the appointment. When I picked Gwennie up from her groom she was so happy playing with Tracey and having lots of fun . He coat looks fabulous. I would highly recommend "Henry & me Dog Traing & Grooming .
Meg enjoyed a lovely spa treatment, Reiki session and groom with Tracy. She had a lovely time and came back looking and smelling amazing! Tracy was great with her and took her time as it was Meg’s first time with her. The room was air conditioned as it was a hot day and the smell of essential oils and calming music really made the whole experience for Meg as relaxing as possible. She spend the rest of the day fast asleep! We will definitely be returning again soon. Thank you xx
Brilliant puppy training classes that are truly dog centred and really help to strengthen the bond with your dog. We loved that it was all games based and that you build up a little handbook of the games to refer back to. Tracy is a wonderful, patient trainer who really cares about each individual dog and owner. Thoroughly recommend these classes - our puppy, Scout, could not wait to go in each week.
Finding qualified dog trainers in Southsea means working with professionals who understand the unique challenges of coastal dog ownership in this vibrant Portsmouth neighbourhood. From training puppies along the bustling seafront promenade to managing reactive dogs in the popular Canoe Lake area, our certified trainers deliver personalised obedience training and behaviour modification programmes tailored to seaside living.
Serving all areas including Old Portsmouth, Eastney, and Albert Road, we've successfully trained over 1,800 dogs across Southsea in the past eight years. Our expertise addresses the specific challenges of this coastal community, from beach distractions to navigating busy shopping areas.
Southsea presents distinct training requirements shaped by its coastal location and vibrant community atmosphere. The extensive seafront from Clarence Pier to Eastney Beach offers excellent exercise opportunities but introduces unique distractions including seabirds, beachgoers, and strong sea smells that can challenge untrained dogs. Popular areas like Southsea Common and Canoe Lake mean daily encounters with numerous other dogs, making proper socialisation essential.
Our trainers specialise in coastal-specific challenges including recall training near the beach, desensitisation to crowds during seafront festivals, and managing excitement around water. We understand local requirements and ensure your dog can confidently navigate Albert Road's cafés, Palmerston Road's shops, and the busy pier area while maintaining excellent manners.
Our puppy programmes focus on early development while introducing young dogs to Southsea's coastal environment. Training covers essential commands, house training for terraced properties, and controlled beach exposure. Socialisation sessions near Southsea Castle and Rose Garden help puppies develop confidence around diverse stimuli including cyclists, kite flyers, and other beach-going dogs.
Reliable recall is crucial for safely enjoying Southsea's beaches and common areas. We develop bombproof recall despite seabirds, beach balls, and other dogs, ensuring your companion responds immediately whether on the shingle beach or in Southsea Rose Garden, giving you confidence to provide proper exercise while maintaining control.
Dog training in Southsea typically ranges from £45-70 per hour for private sessions, with package deals at £320-480 for 6-8 weeks. Group classes cost £15-25 per session. Many trainers offer free initial phone consultations and mobile services throughout Southsea at no extra charge.
Yes, though seasonal restrictions apply. Dogs must be on leads on designated beaches between May 1st and September 30th. Year-round off-lead access is available on specific sections. We provide beach-specific training that respects these regulations while building reliable recall and appropriate beach behaviour around swimmers, families, and wildlife.
Look for qualifications from organisations like the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers, Association of Pet Dog Trainers UK, or Animal Behaviour and Training Council. Choose trainers using positive reinforcement methods with local experience who understand Southsea's coastal challenges, seasonal crowds, and beach regulations.
