These puppy training classes were excellent! I use a rollator to walk and Kathryn helped me change exercises to accommodate my needs and adjust to doing them with my rollator. The classes were detailed, plenty of opportunity for questions or extra help and taught the basics of puppyhood such as the following commands: Sit, stay, recall, leave it, heel work, focus on owner, etc. The classes were a maximum of 5 which was a lot better and meant Kathryn could give each of us the individual attention and provide alternative ways, adjustments and methods of training. She showed the value of high value versus lower value treats and how to slowly reduce value, quantity and need for treats as we progress and to replace with affection instead of treats. At the end, we got a certificate and rosette for completing the class. I would highly recommend this puppy class for new puppy parents.

Kathryn is a fabulous trainer, the whole puppy training course was so enjoyable. We were all made to feel welcome and comfortable. The easy way in which Kathryn explains things helps you feel confident and motivated to work with your pup. We loved every minute - wish it was a bit longer though as it was so good.

Kathryn is a brilliant trainer. We struggled to get our dog onto a puppy training course and Kathryn suggested the Gun Dog Training Stage 1 as an alternative. This was perfect as we learnt basic commands and developed our bond. We now have the skills needed to manage a very active young dog. We loved it!

I am beyond grateful for the 1-1 training Emily provided for my two Italian greyhounds and have seen real improvement with reactivity and prey drive, which was proving challenging when on walks and in public. Emily taught the basic skills of positive reinforcement and more importantly the need for rest days!! I was initially skeptical of rest days due to the amount of energy my dogs have, however Emily showed us how we can use scent work and field hire to exert energy in different ways away from triggers. This has been eye opening and I am so grateful as are my two! They are much more settled and not as stressed when in the home or out on walks. Working from home is becoming much easier too. I have learnt the power of my words and ones that work for them, that they will respond to. Emily was able to put the effort in to my two simultaneously, catering for their unique needs. I am so grateful for the support Emily has provided and on going support if needed which is super reassuring. The improvements I have seen so far has been life changing for all of us and with continued practice will make perfect. Thank you Emily! I couldn’t recommend enough. 5*! Lauren, Aron, Benny and Havana x

We’ve recently had a set of puppy 121’s with Emily to make sure we start off on the right foot with our new Collie cross. Emily has been great to work with, totally flexible in her approach and the training is completely tailored to our pups needs. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and look forward to attending some of the varied classes she runs in the near future.

Booked Emily for 4 sessions for my border collie puppy Nelly who is a car chaser . Emily was warm friendly helpful and very knowledgable . She pointed me in the right direction and added that consistency is the key . She was also very patient with me as I don’t absorb information easily and struggle with consistency too. The car chasing still very much work in progress but will continue working on it . Would highly recommend Emily to anyone needing help with their 4 legged friend . Thanks Emily

Emily is an excellent trainer, with real in depth knowledge and experience in applying positive reinforcement. She worked with me and my typical teenager lad who is pulling a lot on the lead and whose recall has got very unreliable. She went through lots of different tools that we could use, tailoring them to suit the fact he is awkwardly not that food motivated. He really enjoyed the session and I got a lot out of it too. Would totally recommend.

Harrison’s Dog Training was recommended by our local vet as an experienced positive skills based trainer. We chose the Pet Gun Dog classes for our Labrador, to work on engagement and impulse control. She has thoroughly enjoyed all the activities and it has been great to see her use her working dog brain in a fun, force free environment. We would highly recommend Harrison’s Dog Training for all breeds of dog, as there are classes for many different abilities and ages.

Having taken on a rescue from Romania we were beginning to despair if we could ever get him to settle and behave but Myles gave us the tools and the confidence that made the difference. We now have a more contented and well behaved dog. It takes dedication but with Myles help and support it has been so worth it.

I was at the end of my tether when I contacted Nicky , we were having problems with resource guarding in my retriever puppy which was quite frightening at times. Nicky has been absolutely brilliant in helping me to correct my puppy's behavior with guarding. Even after the first session , with the skills and knowledge that Nicky passed on to me, I felt more confident and in control of the situation , and at last i started to enjoy my puppy. We had 4 sessions in total and after each session , Nicky sent an in depth email summarizing what we had covered during the session an what to work on until the next session, which was great as I don't retain information well 😆 Nicky's love of dogs is obvious to see, it was a pleasure to have Nicky coming to the house and spending time with her , Hattie loved her, we'll both miss our training with Nicky. I thoroughly recommend Nicky and without doubt would contact her again if we have any further issues.

I just wanted to say a huge Thankyou to Nicky. Before she helped us, my mum was at her witts end with our 9month old labrador. She wasn't enjoying her and it seemed there was issue after issue with a number of things. I called Nicky and explained the problems we were having. I booked 4 sessions and ever after the first one my mum was starting to feel better. The course was competed amd the difference in Moss is actually unbelievable. Nicky listened and addressed each problem individually, she worked with my mum and Moss on the day and sent an email after each session explaining what was worked on and an explanation of what was to be worked on until she came again. I honestly can't Thank Nicky enough for the help she has given and the things she has helped to put in place the things that make Moss as she is now. My mum is so much happier now. Even though the sessions are finished Nicky has said just to go tact with any questions we may have. I would recommend her to any one. Thanks again Nicky, we really appreciate everything you did for us x

Nicky has helped us hugely with our labradoodle who was struggling with some reactivity to noise and light. She was professional throughout and her attention to detail and thoroughness gave us the tools needed to see significant improvements in our dog's behaviour in a short space of time. Nicky was in constant communication and offered advice/strategies/games and techniques to support our dog and progress his training. We now feel well equipped to continue with these strategies to support our dog and are seeing improvements every day. We are so grateful for Nicky's help and highly recommend her services.

I adopting a lovely rescue dog. From day one I was pulling my hair out as River had clearly faced trauma as a puppy and showed signs of food protection. I seeked Nicky's help and ultimately, with her amazing help, experiencing a complete transformation. There was work to do but Nicky made it easy - just follow the steps... I will be forever grateful to her.

Finding qualified dog trainers in Leyland means connecting with professionals who understand the specific needs of this historic South Ribble town. From training puppies in the residential areas near Worden Park to managing reactive dogs along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, our certified trainers deliver personalised obedience training, behaviour modification, and puppy socialisation programmes designed for local conditions.

Serving all areas including Leyland town centre, Worden, Farington, and surrounding villages, we've successfully trained over 1,800 dogs across the PR25 and PR26 postcodes in the past eight years. Our expertise addresses the unique challenges of dog ownership in this Lancashire community, from navigating busy Hough Lane to enjoying off-lead exercise at Moss Side and Seven Stars.

Why Choose Professional Dog Training in Leyland

Leyland presents distinct training requirements shaped by its mix of suburban housing, accessible green spaces, and strong community atmosphere. The town's excellent parks including Worden Park, Worden Playing Fields, and nearby Cuerden Valley Park provide ideal training environments, though the popularity of these spaces means dogs encounter numerous other canines daily, making proper socialisation and recall essential.

Our trainers understand local conditions including the semi-rural surroundings where dogs may encounter livestock, the busy town centre around Fox Lane requiring excellent lead manners, and the canal towpaths where reliable recall proves crucial. We specialise in preparing dogs for Leyland's family-friendly environment, ensuring they behave appropriately around children at local schools and in residential neighbourhoods predominantly featuring semi-detached and terraced housing.

Dog Training Solutions for Leyland Residents

Puppy Foundation Training and Socialisation

Our puppy programmes focus on the critical 8-16 week period, introducing young dogs to Leyland's environment including traffic along the B5253, town centre activity, and park socialisation at Worden Park. Training covers house training, crate training, bite inhibition, and essential commands, building confident dogs ready for Lancashire life.

Reactive Dog Training and Behaviour Modification

We address leash reactivity on popular walking routes including the canal towpaths and through residential estates, using positive reinforcement to replace lunging and barking with calm, focused behaviour even in busy environments like Saturday mornings at Worden Park.

Advanced Recall and Off-Lead Training

Our advanced programmes develop reliable off-lead control essential for safely enjoying Leyland's larger open spaces. Training at locations like Cuerden Valley Park ensures dogs respond consistently despite wildlife, other dogs, and typical park distractions, giving owners confidence during daily exercise.
