Michael truly is as described - a proper dog guru! We worked together for 2 1/2 hours through very practical training methods focused on building positive behavioural associations. Within 5 minutes of arriving we were working directly with Roland across everything from jumping up and greetings, impulse control, to walking off the lead in a busy park alongside fun games and tricks to keep him fulfilled. Michael helped breakdown some of the pitfalls you may find from overly generalised advice that you read which ultimately confuses you to clear and well explained processes you can easily repeat. All this added up to a very happy dog, who responded well to all the methods being employed and a very happy owner who now has the confidence to put these into practice and enjoy the training too! Bravo!
Great dog trainer! Very knowledgeable and has lots of simple and effective dog training tips. Would recommend to all.
This is our rescue dog who has been with us for the past 2.5 years - she is going to be 10 years old this year. The issue we were having was her pulling on the lead like MAD making walks not that pleasant an experience. Tried training her following videos on YT but with no luck - Enter Michael! Within one afternoon, our dog was walking next to us or behind us and continues to do so - sometimes tries to pull but we have the tools to not allow her to do so thanks to Michael! Now we need to get her socialised and we know where we will get that help! With The Dog Guru Michael - you can teach old dogs new tricks!
I can't praise Michael enough: we landed him with two puppies (brothers), two days after getting them from the breeder as we were unable temporarily to settle them and within two weeks we got two well-behaved healthy puppies back, who were already house trained and responding to a range of commands (and obviously enjoying it). They are now a month on and are growing up into two respectable young dogs: Michael gave them the best possible start in life and I can recommend his services whole heartedly: he is brilliant!! That was 12 months ago. Since then we lost one of the boys and got a new puppy to help the remaining one adjust. That meant retraining and Michael again did a superb job. Can’t recommend him enough!!!
My husband and I are extremely happy with the support and service Michael has provided. We've learned so much about our puppy and how to train her the essentials to support her transition into the human world and rules. He is always available for a chat, we don't know what we would have done without him!

Karen at bugzy’s dogs has been an incredible asset to the progress of our dog Daisy. The classes were filled with useful activities, as well as clear and effective guidance, that we have been able to implement into Daisy’s routine. Thank you!
Bugzy’s dog training helped me and my lively cockerpoo Buster so much. We completed the foundation course and enjoyed going every week, it was really fun. Karen also did a 1-1 visit and we followed her helpful instructions and kept up with the training and so many people have commented on how well behaved he is. Karen is calm, patient and very knowledgeable, watching her deal with some extremely challenging dogs was impressive!
Friendly, relaxed training classes. We have a 2 year old Cavapoo who wasn't the best on walks. Karen made us realise the importance of going back to basics, trying to encourage our dog to listen to our commands and working on recall. Karen has lots of great advice and bags of patience. Would highly recommend!
I like too thank you and everyone for such a lovely course. Very well conducted and so friendly and helpful. Learnt loads, Karen such a fantastic teacher, and her assistant trainer are so helpful, and friendly, each dog has there own space and assistant trainer, always keep each dog safe. Highly recommend
Friendly, relaxed training classes, our puppy now realises she does not have to rush up to great every dog or person she sees and listens to me more. My other dog barks a lot at other dogs but this has reduced a lot which is quite a result!

Sue is fantastic, we have two dogs that are great aside from on lead, within the first session Sue had already shown us the way to transform lead walks! The motivational ongoing support and check ins are fabulous too!
Sue came to my home to help me with my 6 month old pup on Saturday. She was full of tips on other areas too and even though we are only 4 days in I can see a big change. Great advice given in a friendly way. Highly recommend.
Sue has really helped me with training my adopted Greek dog. She has been very patient bith with Lemoni and myself. Lead walking is now much more manageable I also feel I can contact Sue at anytime within problems Thank you Sue
Sue helped me to train at the time my 1 year old whippet, who preferred to play with other dogs to me and would pull me along the street to get there. So we worked on loose lead walking and playing over the park. It took a few sessions and eventually, with her help and guidance he started to listen to me. I no onger have her for physical training sessions but she checks in with me once a week to see how we are doing and if I have any concerns or worries she is always willing and on hand to answer/reassure me.
Sue has been a great help with our two dogs. The younger one had separation issues and would bark constantly when we left him. Sue gave us advice to follow and within 1 week he had calmed down, stopped barking and can now be left without us stressing about the noise. Thank you Sue!

I would highly recommend Right Start Dog Training to everyone with a new puppy. The training, both by video link and in class with Kaye was really informative and helpful, with lots of tips and advice, just what I needed to help with my new puppy 😁. I really enjoyed my classes with Kaye, and as I said, have no hesitation in recommending Right Start.
Kaye is a fantastic trainer who I highly recommend. She helped me with understand my dog better and gave me so many useful tools to use to help with her behaviour. She is so knowledgeable but is not condescending and you can tell she genuinely wants to ensure both owner and dogs needs are met. Thank you so much Kaye.
Gertie, my cocker spaniel puppy and I have just completed the Adults and Adolescents Training Course. It was fun and really informative. Kaye is really knowledgeable, and Gertie is now well on her way to developing into a polite and happy girl. Thank you Kaye
The puppy sessions with Kay were well structured and informative. Even though I’ve owned dogs for most of my life and I’m now in my 70’s, I learned many new ideas and techniques. Working cocker spaniels are high energy and intelligent dogs and with Kay’s help, I now have a very well balanced 5month old with which to build upon.
We have just finished a 6 week training course with our rescue Cocker Spaniel with Kaye. We learnt really useful positive training methods which Kaye backed up each week via email. Included in the emails were several links to video clips too which I'm sure we'll re refer too in the weeks ahead. I would highly recommend Kaye and her training course.

We saw Caroline for an hours 1:1 to help us with our young male Labrador who was becoming unwalkable. He pulled on the lead to the point that going out with him was something we started to dread. He barked at other dogs and we basically couldn’t take him anywhere. After one hour with Caroline she taught us how to walk him to heel and how to stop him from barking. She explained a lot to us about our dog and has helped us to understand him so much more. I now walk my dog happily in busy high streets with other dogs around and he doesn’t pull or bark. I feel in complete control of him and he loves it. My dog also seems happier and calmer in the house. I wouldn’t have believed one hour could do this but Caroline was amazing, so knowledgeable and professional. Changed our lives if I’m honest. Thank you. Laura and Paul Shaw
Wow wow and wow anyone needing help with there pampered pooches please don’t hesitate to give Michael and Caroline a call , we rescued a 2 yr old springer who had been kept inside all his life so you can imagine the challenges we had ahead of us , but the worst challenge was getting ( Mutley ) to sleep at night after 3 weeks of no sleep no respect or manners we were at our wits end , one home visit from Caroline and some strict boundaries / training in place and ours and Mutley lives have been transformed we now have a dog who sleeps all night and is so much happier in general and our family no longer need match sticks to hold our eyes open , we honestly honestly cannot thank you enough , we are attending more training sessions and cannot wait to see the progress Mutley makes 🙏🏻🙏🏻🩷 the Mitchell family
Mike and Caroline are fantastic dog trainers. Our pup is coming along nicely with the training we received as puppy parents. Highly recommend Stokes K9 to anyone looking for puppy/dog training. Can’t wait to go back for more advanced sessions once our boy grows up a bit.
We had a great experience at puppy school with Stokes K9 Training. The whole team were great and really supportive. They taught us what commands to use to get our dogs listening and responding and I’ve seen such a difference with my dog since following their guidance. The classes are a great size to practice socialising, but also for the trainers to get to know each dog individually and provide personalised advice based on your individual needs. Can’t recommend them enough!
What to say, thank you to Mike and Caroline For helping us with our German shepherd Winnie who was very nervous around people Has come on so well with Mike and Caroline's advice and knowledge They explained everything and gave you tools to work with each week It's fun for us too Sad, it's our last day today Will be coming back for the scent training soon Not forgetting steve who all so made us feel welcome
